No prob. This world has a lot of grey areas, so I'm happy to explain for you.
1) Combinations are awesome, both fighting styles, work groups, special moves, and everything in between. Go for it :D
2) Telepathic links are capable for Soul users, and there is actually a certain pair within the Government that take that concept to a whole different level. For those who aren't learned users of it, contact of either skin or eye contact is a must, unless the two involved are deeply connected. Soul isn't only about the mind and soul, it also includes the bonds between others.
3) If you are willing to expend enough Aeon to blow up the whole Academy (which a student wouldn't USUALLY have), and only have it work for the single moment for that burst of Aeon, then sure. I would say that at your level, Ulrich doesn't have enough control to do a mass scale illusion, using up more Aeon in excess than actually doing anything. Of course, that amount would only pertain to the size of a full auditorium, he could probably influence about 20 people, give or take, for a period of time (1 minute). The time would longer for every less person there is. Remember, you're still a second year student, and not able to screw over a small town... Yet.
