Current I wonder if it would be worth my while to return to this site. I've had pretty much abysmal luck with games. Wonder if it'll be any different after a couple of years of absence...?!

@Guardian Angel Haruki Are we willing to NPC them untill we move away from this segment of the story... Which brings the next question that maybe all of us are asking ourselves. Are we gonna recruit fresh blood, or continue with just Safira, Shaedra and Jacoby?

If we are willing to use Mirdas and Signod as NPCs for the scene, I'd like to roll Investigation to look about the tent.
@Guardian Angel Haruki So, at the moment there's no one to keep an eye on the brothers if Safira goes to the tent, since Cu is MIA also. Safira would like to go in there and investigate for Callie's things, but she wouldn't leave Brett and Barney alone. Maybe Warren can come and watch them?

@rush99999As for the secret backstory... It's just like in real life. If that persone moves away before you get to find out, we don't get to find out
I'll throw my hat in this... And probably go for another of Matt's creations, the gunslinger
So tempted to bring the Heart of Gold in this one. Alas, I haven't the time. Hope this picks up and you guys have fun with it
Alena stood stock still in the morning dusk, her Sounetar emblem still emitting the soft glow of the light spell. By the time all involved exited the cathedral the sun had risen a bit and now the sky was starting to get suffused with a soft morning glow. Very soon the objects enchanted with the light spell would need to be snuffed out. But as it stood, the soft glow of the enchantment was still needed. The cleric knight blinked tired eyelids as she observed her charges. One by one they came up and said their piece about the situation they found themselves in and what the law asked of them to endure.

Alena scrutinized the young feline female upon hearing her question. Is she baiting me or does she take me for a fool? The cleric wondered tiredly. Sounetar, grant me wisdom to get through this without unnecessary injury. Alena approached the young woman. "I'll make you a counter offer." She spoke gently. "I take the staff and walk right beside you so you can keep an eye on it." She encompased the group with a compassionate yet firm gaze. "Understand... Surrendering your weapons is more about your intent to cooperate and less about us fearing you'd attack us." The knight paused. "Though if you should so choose. Again I warn you! We are authorized to use the necessary force to bring you in front of the General."

Alena didn't miss the colorful hand-show of the gaunt looking man either. Out of the corner of her eye she saw some of her men recoil in disgust. At least she hoped it was disgust and not fear. She and her cadre of men needed to present a unified front before this group if they had any chance of convincing them to comply without any further bloodshed. As for herself... Well... She'd seen enough gore and dark magic during her time with the clan to last her a lifetime. She was no stranger to it and it held no sway over her. It only brought back heavy memories. Which piled on top of her already tired mind made her even more eager to nip this whole situation in the bud and get this people deposed without quarrel.

The cleric knight's attention was drawn to the entrance or exit of the cathedral as a petite half-elf woman made her way out and after assessing the situation had some choice words about Lex who'd turned himself in voluntarily to Alena and her men and had also taken it upon himself to incriminate in a way his fellow adventurers. I can appreciate the man's respect for the law, but still, betraying your party like that... I'd be calling you worse than 'snake', buddy. Alena thought to herself. But before her attention could linger for longer on the fiery half-elf a young girl spoke up in defense of the group. Extolling their effort in saving her life and the lives of several other people. Probably the group of people who'd exited the cathedral first.

Once again Alena took court of the gathering. "Everyone, please. I understand your concerns. You don't know me and have no reason to trust me. So my word may as well be worthless to you. But it is not to me or my patron. So I give it to you in front of Sounetar who always watches over me. I and my men shall escort you to the General in the most respectful manner. I will listen to your side of the story and should I see the truth in it I will not allow any wrong judgement to befall you! This is my word to you under the watchful gaze of my patron. Take it or leave it, but please accompany me and my men to the General's of your own free will with the conditions I stipulated." Alena finished her speech, her right hand over her emblem, temporarily dimming it's glow. She took the time to make eye contact with each and every person in the group. And then she waited.
@Guardian Angel Haruki A post to keep us alive. I would have posted sooner but I had some health issues to deal with.
Safira rolled her eyes at the immature comment of one of her captives. The other one had a little bit more presence of mind to act like a grown up and chastised his friend. The blood huntress didn't care one way or the other. What she did care for was what they had to say about Callie. As Brett, one of the two surviving Barnaby brothers, finished his story of how they came about the little girl, Safira had to once again roll her eyes. The huntress tried to remember if she knew anything about craters in forests. A glimmer of memory shot through her mind, but was immediately gone. Safira only remembered being in the tavern and hearing bits and pieces of conversation, but she'd been in one of her moods then and the fragment of memory didn't have any chance of being retained.

"So let me get this straight..." Safira began at length. "You found a little girl... In a crater... after a weird light show in the sky... And you decided she was a rich girl in need of ransoming?!?" The huntress was sure her sarcasm would probably fly right over these thugs' heads. It was obvious they cared only for one thing and when presented with more pressing facts would simply ignore them if there was buck to be made. "Where is this crater?" Safira considered something for a second and added. "And the backpack Callie had on? I want to see what she had in it."

Síofra was busy recalibrating Octa's tentacle servo-motors which had gotten completely misaligned during Lilly's little experiment in operating the big battle drone. Thankfully the physical damage to Octa had been minimal, but readjusting the drone's inner workings and operating mechanisms was a more difficult and lengthier task. As Síofra was recalibrating and running diagnostic after each calibration, one tentacle at a time, she was effortlessly swept back into the past when she was still a loyal TVP soldier.

Five years ago

TVP as organization believed in maximizing everything. This applied to their soldiers as well. They were all required to be proficient in more than just soldiering. For Síofra it was tech. She'd always been drawn to it and had shown an aptitude towards it and TVP had given her the opportunity to be trained adequately in it. Even more so than the average tech out there. As TVP did nothing halfway. You either knew your craft to perfection, or you were out. And Síofra was good. By the time her training had ended she was proficient in dealing with all kinds of tech, recognizing, fixing and modding. But she'd shown an incredible aptitude with drones and to a lesser extent hacking. Two valuable skills for TVP.

Whenever Síofra's unit wasn't out on a collection run she could be found elbows deep within the innards of some TVP drone. And boy, did TVP have some fine beasts in their stables! Síofra loved servicing the drones. They were straightforward. She understood them way better than people. If something went wrong with them, they had a way to tell her exactly what was wrong so she could fix it. People were not like that at all! Most of the times they didn't even know something was wrong with them. And even when they did, they had no idea what they needed to become better again. It was so frustrating!

"Yeah, people are frustrating. I better stick with you guys." The tech soldier said as she petted lovingly one of TVP's reconnaissance drones. Okay, so maybe it's more of a spy drone than reconnaissance. Síofra admitted begrudgingly to herself. But it was a dog eat dog in the corporate world and the other corps out there were constantly trying to get a leg up on TVP and weren't above stealing corporate secrets to get ahead of the game. "Cheaters!" Síofra muttered while fixing the outer plating on the little spy drone. It was clear from the damage it had gotten in a scrap with a bigger defense drone. "You barely got out with your chrome skin, huh lil' guy." The tech said attaching the brand new plating on the diminutive drone. "There! All better now." She said as she ran a final diagnostic and moved to a much larger defense and battle drone. A complaint had come down the chain that it was acting up and to run a diagnostic on its higher brain functions and directives.

"Let's see what's up with you, big fella." Síofra said quietly as she linked up with the drone's core unit.

"What the fuck!" Síofra exclaimed staring at the diagnostic readout. She ran a couple more additional and deeper diagnostics to make sense of the first one. It turned out the drone had its memory banks tempered with. But by some amateur who'd done a piss poor job of it. They'd left some residual files in the banks that were obviously in contradiction with one of the drone's prime directives, which was leading to the weird behaviors.

By the time the first audio segment had finished playing Síofra was so weirded out by what appeared to be some sort of ritual chanting that the second segment caught her completely unprepared and she jumped with a start hearing the horrified girl's scream, her trusty goggles clamoring to the ground.

"Shit! What the bloody hell was that!?!" The tech kneeled, picked up her goggles, put them back on and forced herself to listen to both audio segments again and again. After half an hour she was pale and cold sweat was running down her spine.

This again! Síofra mused. Where the fuck have you been? What did you see to warrant a memory and gps log dump?

Síofra stared stunned at the blinking location displayed on her goggles' visor.
I'll tentatively throw my interest hat in this.
