I'm most interested in the historical or mundane one, the other option just in case people wanted a modern version.

I'm hoping for the mundane one we can make it funny rather then be as bored as our characters. There's plenty of humor to be had in the subject matter if we get on a roll but the idea could be a double edged sword. I guess if we got too bored with it then all of our characters die while not paying attention due to being bored and we can start the other one. ;)
I was inspired by a recent gag on an anime that could be expanded upon into a possible roleplay idea and had other ideas of my own that could also be used depending on what's voted on by you guys.

The inspired idea is taking magical girls and making them realistic, aka very mundane. They have to fill out job applications, damage reports, patrol around looking for monsters yet nothing comes up, etc. Basically, normal police work they don't show on tv with a few rare fights that end up requiring a whole lot of paperwork. This would be a free roleplay that mainly tries to be comedic based on how boring being a realistic magical girl is. It may even climax with us getting ready to fight the big bad but finding out that we're not the only competent ones and the police already arrested him...spoiler alert! (EDIT: Here is the mundane roleplay)

The historic Japan one is set in the warring states period where samurai were fighting each other from different groups. However, the existence of magical girls threatened to change history as samurai became bodyguards of magical girls who would serve as the main fighting force to decide battles. Oda Nobunaga (a super famous guy from this era) wishes to take over all of Japan with his elite magical girl forces...at any cost. Can our little group survive his onslaught and restore peace to the nation? P.S. Elite samurai can fight on a similar level to magical girls, just with insane fighting ability rather than magic, so this allows male characters to be useful as well.

The deathly serious one is a possible future of the historic Japan one where future was changed due to the existence of magical girls springing up there. They basically took over a third of the world and a rebellion is starting in a conquered territory.

Such force that orc had to throw two large orc men around and then bash through the elven male with the shield, knocking him down as well as the female behind him. She knew that orcs could be strong, but that was ridiculous! This was no ordinary orc, that much was for sure. As he shot a fireball at her she had no other option but to release the magic that she had stored in front of her palm, sending it flying towards the fire at breakneck speed to likely eliminate both attacks in a massive explosion. The force of the blow knocked her backwards a bit and she barely managed to maintain her footing, only doing so due to her incredible grace and anticipation of such a result.

Her eyebrows furrowed into a look of annoyance. So much for her quick and easy victory plan. She'd have to kill this intruder soon before her elves lost the battle. The other two elves were now trying to scramble to their feet before the orcs could reach them.
It would be interesting if I did a random character challenge. *Steals idea secretly

I'll get a post out in a bit, various stuff came up.
Odd how air is in only excluded element, but of course this is just up to your personal preference so is not an issue.

For the backpack blocking, it sounds like an automatic one block attack? I assume it hits something hard by sheer luck but breaks it to explain one block? Or the shadows bloc it but why limited to one block? It would make more sense just to leave it open ended where the shadows can block as many attacks as it reasonably could and no auto block.

Gms also disappear. hahahah

We just need a line of succession.
@ImportantNobody Is this already a thing, or is it a future possibility?

Future possibility

The thing is, we've seen how RPs generally run on Guild, as far as vanishes and the like. That would be the biggest issue, as well as rewards and the like.

If people vanish then we can either say they got lost after accepting the question or, if that's clearly not the case, create some enemies capable to taking them out from the shadows.

Perhaps maybe quests and the like can be implemented, but that may be difficult to apply in this situation.

There exists a world made up entirely of a fantasy inn where quests are placed on a quest board for brave adventurers to accept. Is the quest finding a lost cat? Is it stopping a world destroying hornet infestation? There's a ton of options both serious and light hearted. Accepting quests gives great excuses to have our characters team up because you put your stamp (or whatever) on the quest sheet to say you accept it and sometimes these people team up to make things easier on themselves. This quest board can be posted in IC posts for the main multiverse thread and people say in the OOC which one they want to do and organize the quest with other people.
Again, I maintain my stance that you can't really force a child to do anything they don't want to do. Specially at that age. And don't say he'll do something bad to her if she doesn't, cause a child that age won't care. They'll just cry/throw a tantrum or many other child like things kids do when faced with things they don't want to do.

Impaqt's comments mostly fall in line with my own (although I struggle with realistic height and weights so wouldn't have noticed without research) besides the fact that I'm pretty sure she's not intending the acid exploding to effect any people either, it's just not written into the sheet that way.

As for the quoted comment, I find it very interesting if I did have a character behaving like that, although I admit I have no idea how it would fit at all into an arena battle even if it would be interesting to play as for once.
