Your method is more a boost/buff, not unlike a berserkers rage.

Only to go against main hero transformation stereotypes where they have an out of control evil form (that their close friends must snap them out of with a hug), my characters transformation will be genuinely pure.

If a transformation is wholly positive it doesn't make sense from a story sense, nor is it really suitable for Arena.

Even dragon ball z transformations aren't wholy positive, requiring concentration and energy to keep up so they would tire out without practicing it, although admittedly way more beneficial then hurtful.

Of course I would have additional weaknesses as well as the weakness of having to transform to match the tough opponents. The only way I see transformations being horrible for the enemy is if they BS stuff, which they could do with or without transformations, or it's a close match so tey could fight untransformed for a bit as then transform to beat them, but I have no clue why the opponent wouldn't specify if they can transform or not before the match, knowing they couldn't fight the transformed form and only want to fight untransformed.
Transformations could be a major weakness doing it my way. If your trasformation is what is compared to the opponent, getting knocked out of your transformation messes up your chance of winning while the opponent doesn't need to stay transformed. Plus for story purposes they could be caught un-transformed or can't for some reason.
I was literally watching Skallagrim reviewing the game in another tab on youtube when I saw this. It looks good.
@Descartes Two vibroswords would be better. That way he can dig them into the ground on both sides of him and move him forward like a tank.

His edgy backstory is a given.
So the best character to use to piss people off here is a half demon who instant heal transforms and uses a vibrosword. Gotcha.

I mean primary as the main one he'd use in combat, so while he does transform, it doesn't really matter much in battle if he would always starts with transformation against powerful opponents.

However, it would also be interesting to have another transformation that makes his strengths and weaknesses more evident while adding some additional strengths and weaknesses. No healing.
Why wouldn't transformations just be thought of as the primary form and what is compared to the opponent when deciding battles, and the normal form is just a weaker version that they start out in and not for battling the higher level people. It doesn't seem inherently bad at all, but I haven't battled anyone who tried transformation funny business.
Frieza doesn't heal during transformations and got tired from all that messing around before, resulting in his defeat during final form.

Some peopl may have instant heals during transformation, but I see that more of a problem of instant heals.
My character will probably have power up transformations. Some people have a problem with such things for some reason but who cares.
