The character is an artificially created human, so when in doubt I can go the easy "clone" route and have ones of different power show up and even replace a killed one. That way she can fight people of many power levels. However, that wouldn't explain why her weakest body would be default. Hmm...actually this concept could be fun because one body could be a male version of herself, just cause of wacky hijink potential. XD

But then would all the bodies just be sitting uselessly around while she's controlling one and her soul moves back and forth? Or perhaps she could do this before but the bodies are lost to her besides a few in some storage container that she needs permission to use and there's huge drawbacks or magical red tape for using better ones. All of these thoughts running through my head may delay the character posting until tomorrow if I can't get them sorted out. I'm on the verge of something interesting.
One is more human powered with a weapon that can transform into gun form or sword form and shoot bursts taken from her energy. The other can summon weapons taken from a special dimensional space within their soul and is more mid power. There is some similarities but not a huge amount so might as well come in with both, but the lower level one could be better if more people seem to be going for lower tier at the moment.
Curses. I was going to get to work on my new main character, but then thought of another possible new main character. Now I can't decide if to use my new main character or my new new main character.
The...mini threats! Nah.

"Nooooo! My only weakness, bullets! How did you know?"

Or rather, "my one true weakness may be metal, but good luck getting that oddly shaped hunk of metal you're holding over to me in under a second!"
Well, looks like the gun debate has ceased and I don't need te additional points I was going to make. XD

It could be funny in a dark humor way if I come in with a high powered character who gets one shot by a pistol.
It depends what mid tier we're talking about if they can reasonably beat guns or not in terms of raw balancing. I think our current scale has a very broad mid tier. So if someone can control a fire burst that quickly flies around at their will and surrounds them, that would be preferable to a gun, if that counts as a mid tier ability. That doesn't seem like a low tier ability for sure.
Concept

In a sci-fi setting of my creation there exists a certain pastime, and that pastime is watching tanks duke it out for sport! Not to worry, as the inside of the tank is able to protect the participants from serious injury while still maintaining realism by determining what damage an attack would do upon hitting the area and effecting the tank as such, as well as the outside of the tank being completely destructible so that from an outsider's perspective it looks like they really are engaged in an epic life or death struggle. For example, if a tank shell impacts one side of the tank and would have gone all the way through, the other side of the tank explodes itself to reflect this.

Although futuristic, the tanks for this sport are more akin to WW2 era ones from Earth outside of their protective shell underneath, meaning more gritty struggles with up close and personal attacks and old fashioned aiming and loading. Participants can have unique features on their tank such as minimal cloaking, hovering, etc., but they're only allowed a certain amount of points; the more useful stuff costing a ton more, and they can fall into different tiers allotting different amounts of points. This keeps less technologically advanced races still in the running rather than fighting maxed out alien races who make it no contest.

A team is comprised of up to 3 tanks for a small match, 5 tanks (a tank platoon) for medium matches, and 10 for large matches. There are also individual matches that one can participate in, or in special matches where teams agree to a different amount that they both use. Not all spots need to be filled on a team, but you cannot spend extra points on tanks borrowed from ones not participating. Some platoons are representing certain alien races such as their version of Olympic teams, but all manner of teams can be formed, from professionals to amateurs.

How this will work

1. Each person will control an entire tank crew unless people desire to team up. Any number of them can be simple NPCs who are just there to get the job done if desired, acting as if the tank itself is the only character you need. It's required to have a driver, loader, aimer, and commander, but your tank can have additional crewmembers, such as extra aimers for more than one turret if that's the route you're going with.

2. You can create your own alien race or ask me about certain types of alien races you'd like to play and I'll provide you with a race I came up with that matches your description. You can always just be humans. I think it will be a blast imagining all of the different designs that different aliens would bring to the table.

3. Magic exists in this universe, but to use it then it has to be part of the tank spending points on, as magitech devices exist. I'll explain more about this if people are planning on using magic.

4. I don't foresee us having enough people for 10 on 10 matches by any means. Maybe we can get a 3 on 3 match going or something.

5. You guys can team up as desired and then challenge other teams the same as any arena roleplay.

6. As previously stated, you can use WW2 tank stats to see the level of what is allowed. "Laser guns", called Elzion Energy in this setting, can replace tank shells if desired, so is more futuristic but still on the same level of usefulness as per rules, just with some different advantages and disadvantages. I will explain more about different weapon systems in an actual OOC if this gets enough interest.

7. Not sure if the points will actually be figured out or if we just wing it and judge the tanks as a whole on how well they'd match up to one another. Any tank enthusiasts can help me judge the tanks. You should know the front, back, and side armors as well as turret rotation, fire rate, damage potential, and the speed of the tank at least.

8. Arena battles with this setting will all be canon among each other and the main IC can have crews outside of battle forming friendships and rivalries with other teams.
Four pages of discussion is not a gauge for the effectiveness of the argument. I also don't think what's happening here is systemic abuse in any quantity. Multiple people have all agreed that guns outside of high tier fights are intrinsically unfair against any character not totally prepared/outfitted for them, save you are severely nerfing bullet-speed for the sake of fairness, which I admittedly dont see many people do.

This is also not an attack but an outside observation. I have fought gunslingers and spell-guns aplenty and I personally have no real qualm with it provided my every post blocking/evading is not nitpicked to cheese a win because 'but bullet Su fast! Yew can't dodge!' That has happened more times than I care to count, not that it effected the outcome.

I think Dark and Nobody made very good points for their case, however. There were very few actual-scenario defenses provided by the gun slinging side to empower their argument that weren't entirely hinged on characters being prepared beforehand or some kind of deal being struck, or other circumstantial/convenient factor.

Just my two cents.

Agreed. It's not abuse to question what tier guns are best balanced for.

Nerfing bullet speed in a tournament didn't end well for a lot of people, from past experience.

In one of my cases it was against a computer system that gave the gun perfect accuracy so I can't say everyone with a gun would claim to be perfectly accuracy. My fault for agreeing to a battle against it. However, like you mention, a lot of this is trust/deals, so some random person you're up against could very well claim that their gun should always hit if they have a line of sight to the target and do lethal damage because they are a great shot. Some of you guys may be able to build my trust in guns to make me comfortable in saying, "no, that missed" or "even though it hit my chest I keep going" without starting a fight. I would feel bad if they kept shooting and me saying their bullets are not really doing much at all because of the possibility that is the case, so why not make it so. I wouldn't know how far I could take it without the trust because I might worry about going overboard and just let any bullet drop me like a fly.

I won't fight with a human tier vs a gunslinger human tier in an open field, starting at least twenty paces apart... :p I think we all can at least laugh and agree with that is a bad idea, right?

Yeah. Bad idea. XD
*Sigh*

Right. Nevamind. It's so lovely when "that might be okay if you're into that sort of thing" is the best that can be said after something like four pages of discussion.

Whelp, can't be helped, I suppose. Gunslingers wouldn't know what to do with themselves if everyone who wasn't a gunslinger didn't heap systemic abuse on them at every given opportunity.

ANYWAYS. @LeeRoy - am I starting a thread or what?!

That's all that really can be said. Personally I'll never again fight a low tier battle with a non gun user versus a gun user in a ranked battle unless they use a musket or something. I might do it for fun or use another gun user. My win ratio will thank me if I learn my lesson early.
