A quick introduction of myself and a few associates of mine
For real though, I'm a Brit who dabbles in most genres of roleplay, but tends to go for fantasy and sci-fi in particular. I prefer high casual, but will use a more or less advanced writing style if I like the concept.
@Gemini Token Still waiting on that Simic character, and the launch is tomorrow. Not trying to rush you, but you might want to ensure that you've got it done, since I'll have to approve it before you can use it, and that might not happen immediately.
Name: Allendris Palluvia Age: 12 Race: Vedalken Appearance: Personality: Allendris takes the typical Vedalken reserve and apathy, spits it out and laughs at it. Though not, perhaps, as intensely idealistic as a typical Boros legionnaire, he does demonstrate impressive drive to succeed, and has shown to be relentlessly focused on his mark. Though most of those he has worked with see his drive as obsessive and dangerous (particularly other Vedalken), they cannot deny that he produces results. History: Allendris was never truly born. He was built by a Simic biomancer, one of the many in the guild intent on creating a perfect creature. The mage wanted Allendris to serve as a bodyguard and predator, and though he succeeded in making Allendris capable of the task, the upgraded Vedalken felt he could do better alone. Needless to say, that biomancer hasn't been seen much in the twelve years since Allendris' creation. With the appearance of an adult but the experience of a child, Allendris knew he would not fit in to modern Ravnican society, but he did have some advantages - he was superior physically and mentally to the majority of his kind, created with four arms and an incredible ability to track. He became involved in mercenary work, using his abilities to track down the target and bring them back, dead or alive. His creator had also given him some basic knowledge of Simic magic, which he utlised as he needed. The time spent as a guildless mercenary caused a few run-ins with certain Rakdos mages, who disliked the competition. Discouraged from his current path by the crudeness of his rivals, he turned towards a lighter path, and continued to use his skills, but this time for the Azorius, hunting criminals and capturing them for their trial. He never officially became a member but his skills are relied upon regularly, and in return he has learnt a lot of white magic, which dwarfed his basic blue and green to become his primary colour. Associates:
Kazarak Karm - A Rakdos mercenary, the pair were rivals, but things escalated quickly when Kazarak attempted to have Allendris assassinated. Allendris' protection under Azorius means he doesn't have to worry about Kazarak much, but he still would take the long walk around, rather than the short walk through, Rakdos territory. Julius Sandum - Allendris' main contact within Azorius. When someone needs to be brought before the Senate, Julius is the one to let Allendris know. Becoming aware of this informal agreement, Azorius also tends to go to Juliud when it is Allendris they want. Julius is also the one who taught Allendris his white magic. Others - A handful of non-noteworthy mages within Boros and Simic who owe Allendris for one reason or another.
Guild: Azorius Rank within guild: 0 Colours: White, blue and green
(1) - Zealous Guardian (2) - Somnomancer (3) - Samite Archer (3) - Wall of Denial (4) - Skymark Roc (7) - Archon of the Triumvirate
Additional information: Allendris is a remarkable tracker, by using both an extraordinary sense of smell, a good eye for evidence of one's passing and capable mind for deducing it. Like many Simic Vedalken, he also has four arms.
@Ryougu In the first paragraph of your history section, there's a misplaced capital letter. Once that's dealt with, Boris is accepted. Though that convsersation ended a while ago, I'm pretty sure I'm Azorius. You can tell why from the first sentence of this reply.
@Ryougu Since I'll be closing further applications on Tuesday (and launching the rp) I'd say go ahead and make the character, but if anyone new wants the slot between now and then, they get priority. Same goes for anyone else who wants a second character in Orzhov/Azorius. If these are not taken by either new or current players, there will be GMPCs to fill them. Don't worry about that.
@Gemini Token Yeah a Phyrexian isn't going to work, though I guess you already figured that.
@PrivateVentures As has already been said, reusable counterspells don't exist in magic for a reason. Maybe instead a mana cost to tap a creature, like Icy Manipulator?
@1Charak2 For the created artifacts, I was thinking that you use mana cost/effect/etc. of existing cards but make item/appearance/etc. your own. The roleplay aspects are original, the statisitcal aspects are not. Created artifacts will have an "activation cost", i.e. They work like normal spells except they exist outside of duels, and can be used for whatever the item is (such as the cutlass chopping people).
@Ryougu I don't play magic all too often, when I do it's either at FNM or game days. Pretty much completely standard, though I've been thinking about making a commander deck (I do have an idea in mind).
@1Charak2 Nothing, technically. But they won't, because this is an rp with a bunch of people who appreciate the enjoyment of roleplaying and not godmodding, and also it has GM who can (as he has previously stated) make life very difficult for the uncreative character.
@PrivateVentures Counterspells work reliably, except in the case of counters which allow the target's controller to e.g. pay mana to prevent the counter. In that case, what the target's controller would be able to do determines the success of the counter.
