Haha, I'd bust a rib if Don's ability kicked in on another Akasha-sits-on-you round and she just loses all motivation to move off of him.
NICO LEHMANN

When the cat-like girl grabbed the thread, Nico almost gave up hope. What was wrong with people here? (Rich, coming from you.) How did this situation even get this far? And did that girl really turn into a panther and back?

With the weight of two people suddenly off of him as Asswipe rolled off immediately after the girl jumped off, Nico sucked in a breath he had been trying to catch since the girl had barreled into them. In panther form.

A magic school--fine. But the hammering heart in his chest was not having any of that rationality, especially when Nico's version of Prozac was being toyed around with by someone other than him.

His eyes followed the small patch of vermilion as much as he could, though without his glasses he wasn't quite sure what he was trying to discern. And then the blob of tan skin moved closer and he could finally make out the clear details of her face. If his mind wasn't in such a state at the moment, Nico would have blushed at a girl coming that close to him wearing that little. He wouldn't call himself conservative, but he was suddenly glad his glasses were off.

The most surprising thing was the vermilion thread she proffered, her sympathy clear on her face as she gently spoke in a language Nico couldn't understand. He squinted a bit to get a clearer view of her features, but ended up just blinking back the tears that had almost come out. Pushing himself up as much as he could manage at the moment, he tentatively took the thread from the girl's open hand, reaching out carefully as if he was afraid she might renege on her offer.

When the bundle of thread was safely back in his hand, Nico cracked a small smile at her through the dirt and slowly-forming bruise on his temple.

"Thank you," he said quietly, almost too quiet for anyone to hear.

And the tightly wrapped length of thread back in his hands seemed to set the world right, silencing the deafening keening of sound in his mind that sometimes threatened to overwhelm Nico. He took several deep breaths as the sigil on his hand dimmed further and finally disappeared. His eyes flicked to Asswipe's right hand, which was now also free of that mark.

That was when Asswipe spoke up, referring to him as 'Glasses' and threatening more bodily injury if Nico used his powers on the douchebag again.

But with the thread back in his hand, Nico hardly cared. He nodded reflexively without really paying attention to the contents of the threat and instead turned back to the girl.

"Thank you," he said again, his voice a bit louder now. Fumbling around some more, he finally felt the cold frame of his glasses almost a meter away and quickly shoved them back onto his face. The left lens now sported a thin crack running diagonally across the surface, but there wasn't much he could do about that.

With a clear view of the girl now, and a clear view of everything else about the girl now, Nico turned red and then turned away, trying not to think...thoughts.

Wow, she's really cute all over.

Dammit.

Looking around for anything to distract him, Nico remembered Asswipe was still nearby and with a scramble he picked up his bag and backpedaled away, keeping his eyes on the worst human being to ever exist. He didn't want to be surprised by that meteoric asshole again.
@banjoanjo

Damn. Good luck on your exam! Punch it in the face and come back to us victorious! So you can quickly resume being a complete douchebag IC.
@banjoanjo

Nah, I figured the first reaction should be yours since Akasha is off and Donny doesn't seem like the type to wait for Nico and Akasha to interact before reacting, haha.
@Scio

So if my plan was to upgrade Galvanize and Debilitate to something even cheesier like Sublimate (maximize ability output to the target's current limit) and Countermand (single-target silence, essentially), that would be 2 points in Kyoka down the road?

Edit: Oh, did you want us to edit that into our sheets for now or hold on until everything is laminated and framed?
Haha, no rush. I'm impressed you got all that out from a phone? Actual magic, though.

Edit: I'll wait on banjo since the first reaction should be his in this case--and also because Donny's way more likely to snap-quick react than Nico if banjo had any particular reaction planned.
@Nanashi Ninanai

No problem.

@Riffus Maximus

Donovan was holding that skein in his hand the entire time, actually. But if Akasha remembered that it originally came from the bag, it all amounts to the same effect, haha.
@Nanashi Ninanai

I don't mind, but remember that Scio is still working on the current system so all of this could be overhauled whenever he finalizes that. Also note that I don't know a thing about the laws of magic in this world, so all suggestions and opinions are coming out of my ass. At the end of the day, the GM's opinion is the only one that matters, so don't put stock in what I think. Let's just call this an exercise in shooting the breeze, haha.

But if you want my opinion on your ability:

Haha, are you kidding? You have the equivalent of small-radius teleportation. Generally, that's OP. That your limiter is in the medium used to teleport just makes it fair. I believe Scio put it best when he mentioned that simplicity is beauty. Besides, we're all going to "level up" and gain new abilities at some later point, so I don't think yours is narrow at all. Rather, it's just right.

Still, Scio did ask you to hold off on making the ability for a reason, so be prepared for anything.
Glad I could help.
@Letter Bee

Hmm, a drain and conversion is already somewhat dicey in terms of overpowered, imo. But if I had to develop a check and balance for someone who specializes in directly manipulating mana (or whatever they call it here), it would take the form of a rate limit, a proximity limit, and a target limit, rather than a weight limit.

One target at a time (at least for now and that's if Scio green lights it all), in close proximity, and at a slow rate. Think damage over time rather than hard damage upfront.

Instead of seeing immediate results, it'd be gradual, similar to Donovan's effect. Which means in a potential combat situation, Mikhail would be the guy in the corner keeping that DoT applied on the enemy. Something like that.

Edit: Since you already have a mobility limit on Wellspring, and assuming the AoE isn't large, that seems balanced enough to me.

Edit 2: I would have also suggested a cost limit in the form of the drain costing large amounts of energy to use, but doesn't drain at a 1:1 ratio. More like a 1:0.25 ratio or something, but since Scio has a pattern of disliking quantifiers that are too specific (and I personally agree; there are too many messy details there that aren't necessary), I think more organic limits would be better.
