Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

@Crimmy I could respond in or threesome with @Savo, but I feel a DM post would give us more to work with. Thoughts?
I noticed a previous comment said new versions of D&D are limiting. Although this is true to an extent, I would suggest starting with D&D 5e. This is the most recent version of D&D. It is an excellent system to get one's feet wet into Tabletop.

Pathfinder is great for customization, but with that variety comes a ton of complicated rules. Be prepared to bring a calculator to the table to figure everything out (Roll20 helps with that). It takes me a solid week to create a Pathfinder character due to the literally thousands of options.

By contrast I can create a 5e character in a matter of a couple hours. The biggest trick is finding a DM who is willing to work with you. 5e is not an extremely deep system, but that also means rules are often much simpler. In my opinion, it's a worthy trade. I suggest starting in 5e, and if you find yourself running out of options, try a more in depth system like PF.
"This is why I avoid cities," Mal grumbled, picking himself up off the ground. A quick glance around showed him that no one he could see was hurt badly, although he had lost sight of the cutes again. Thankfully, some loud profanity from the roof informed Mal as to the location of one of them. She seemed like she could handle herself for now.

Mal approached Wren and Stacey, angry that they had gotten thrown by the blast. They might not have been hurt, but he didn't bother to check. Summoning his inner strength, he stood before the duo. "Get on your feet! We must help the others!" he called out, sending an inspiring wave of energy to heal them both by 4 HP. "Come, let's work together."

Mal turned to find the man that Evyr had attacked and stood before him, glaring down. "Did you do this?" he asked. "Do you know how many were in there? If you do not answer, I shall do to you a thousand times worse, and a thousand times more slowly."

After retrieving the address, the party decided that continuing on their main goal was a good idea. The walk towards the parade was fairly short, and with Yvah and the approaching cacophony of military pomp guiding the way, it was impossible to get lost.

The parade was a grand spectacle. Citizens of every shape lined the streets, cheering on the paraders. Marching through the streets were hundreds of soldiers on a myriad of displays: cavalry rode upon regal steeds; archers twirled artows like batons as some shot blunted arrows with parchment rolled about the shafts into the crowd; the fife and drum played a lively marching tune; swordsmen whipped their blades in a frenzy to show off their skill; mages shot harmless sparks in the air; and clerics cast holy orisons on those they passed.

At the head of the parade was the group's quarry: General Aengus Cavanagh, perched upon a white stallion gilded with gold and violet trappings, and an obviously powerful lance at his side carrying a banner of a white wolf on an azure field, the sigil of Bourgund. Leading the stallion was a male gnome who appeared tickled pink to be in the midst of the festivities, and waved to everyone with an enthusiasm that felt contagious. By contrast, the general simply smiled and nodded at those he passed, sometimes lifting his hand an inch off the reins in a light wave.

It was obvious that there was little the group could do but wait for the parade to pass and to follow behind to catch up with the general later. Of course, they were not the only ones with that idea, and the party soon found themselves swept along in a crowd of followers. Most of the party (those with a Passive Perception of 10 or higher) were able to see one of the papers that the archers haf shot into the crowd. The top of the paper proclaimed in broad capital letters: WELCOME TO THE 258TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF BOURGUND INDEPENDENCE FROM THE MAGOCRACY OF ALLAIN! The bottom half contained what appeared to be a coupon to a local merchant: 1 gp off a purchase of 10 gp or more from Pilly's Parlor of Splendid Sundries. The address for the merchant seemed fairly close by.

About an hour passed with the group being pushed along in the excitement of the crowd. The parade came to a close, and the majority of the crowd dispersed, a handful of people pressing forward to try to talk to the General, but being held back by a line of city watchmen. Aengus could be seen in the distance dismounting from his steed and handing his banner to his gnome compatriot who struggled to hold it aloft. The general entered a building and the gnome followed with a handful of soldiers as the remnants of the crowd finally dispersed. It seems that now would be an opportune time to talk to the General, assuming the City Watch allows you past.
Kimiko Maita

@Savo@Crimmy

As Kimiko Maita entered the school building, she silently hummed the tunes for one of her songs in her head, working over a particularly challenging refrain. She was used to singing the melody as a soprano, but this song mixed up the parts slightly, sending the melody to the altos for a few bars and allowing the sopranos to lightly sing a harmony over the top. It was a welcome change of pace in an otherwise simplistic role, but the jump from C# to the A above was unexpected and felt odd whenever she tried to sing it.

She was so caught up in her mental practice, that she didn't notice that she was walking in lockstep with a second-year whose frame towered over hers. The silent refrain echoed in her mind over and over as she walked towards the chorus club, only to be interrupted by a classmate. She had almost figured out the musical jump too.

"Sasaki-san," Kimiko replied with a curt nod, attempting to hide as much of her annoyance as possible. It took her a moment to locate the "kid" that Hayate had mentioned. Evidently, this Western spawn of the colossi standing nearby was the person in question. She had seen him around several times previously (he was hard to miss), but she had never found it necessary to either introduce herself or talk with him. From what she had gathered, his name was Alec? Alexus? "Alexi-san?" Kimiko offered, unsure whether she had the name correct yet or not. "I do not believe we have met formally, nor am I in the practice of 'hangin' with him as of yet."

With the single social interaction of her morning over with, she returned to her headspace to try to pick up where she left off, but alas, most of her progress had been sabotaged by the unwelcome interruption. People could be annoying like that sometimes.
Fyi, there is currently a brand new Persona RP that just started up, in case you wanted an RP without putting in a ton of effort to DM it.
