Ethan - The mall - Ayla @Norschtalen

It didn't take them long to actually get inside of the mall and they hadn't really seen much that caught their attention on the short walk to the door, nevertheless they still kept their heads down and tried to be as quiet as possible. When they actually got to the door and crept inside the smell hit Ethan straight away, he'd never smelt anything quite as bad before, he threw up almost immediately. Hunched over, Ethan took a second to compose himself, he wiped his mouth was the back of his hand then covered his mouth and nose with his other clean hand to try and hide some of the smell. Ethan had worked very close to sewers which were awful and had to deal with the smells there, but this was a hundred times worse. "That's the worst things I've... ever smelled." Ethan whispered in an out of breath voice, despite the smell, they had no other choice but to continue with whatever Ayla had planned. So far hadn't seen any signs of people living there or close by.

This part of the mall looked like it hadn't been touched in quite some time. There was the odd decomposed body scattered around the floor, obviously this was where the smell was coming from. After a few minutes Ethan moved his hand away from his mouth after getting used to the smell, well as used to it as you could get with it anyway. Ethan had always been a little sensitive when it came to smells. He could see something that was horrible to look at but would be fine, but with smells he would never do well with them.

Ethan stayed behind Ayla whilst she had the map and some kind of a knowledge about the mall from being here before. As they continued through the mall, Ethan had pulled out his hatchet and was killing a few Walkers that were so decomposed that they couldn't even walk anymore. [i]Find some peace.[/] Ethan thought to himself after he'd pulled the hatchet from their heads. He had no clue whether there was anything left of the person it once was but he disliked the thought of him wondering aimlessly around as a walker.

Ayla pointed to where they needed to go and gestured for him to go in front. It was a women's clothing store that they was entering so there wouldn't be much there for him. He was hoping to find maybe a walking store, that had some boots, he currently was wearing some trainers that were looking a bit worse for wear and some coats that were made for colder weather in case he ever headed north. All of he had left were the clothes he was wearing and a thin hoodie that was in his car. Ethan moved through the store quickly but stayed low. There was a few Walkers dotted about the place standing motionless. It was nothing the two couldn't handle.

They moved through the store silently killing any walkers that were in their way. The escalators finally came into view when suddenly a hand lurched out and grabbed Ethan's leg. By instinct Ethan wrenched his leg away but the hand still had a hold of him. Ethan tripped backwards trying to get away from whatever had hold of him from underneath the clothes rack. He pushed himself away from where the hand was coming from with the hand still clinging on to him. As he moved back even more a walker came out with its bottom half missing. Ethan kicked it in it's face trying to not let it get close to biting his leg. Without realising Ethan had backed up too much and knocked over a mannequin that crashed into the floor making a massive bang. Ethan finally managed to grab his hatchet and chopped off the hand that was holding on to him. He jumped up straight away and stamped on the walkers head crushing it. The hand was still holding on to his leg which Ethan quickly yanked off him making a disgusted face as he did it. Straight away he realised what he'd done and looked around and saw walkers moving to them. "Up the stairs, quick." Was all that Ethan bothered to say as he headed to them trying to get as far away as possible from where the noise was made.

Ethan - Approaching the mall - Ayla @Norschtalen

As Ethan drove towards the mall, he kept glancing into his rear view mirror looking at Ayla. Still not fully trusting her so he wanted to check what she was doing and at the same time watching her expression as she told her story. He found it strange that she wouldn't sit in the front seat but all those thoughts quickly left his head when he actually took in what she was saying. The car started to swerve close to the curb every now and then when he was listening to what Ayla was telling him too intently and wasn't paying much attention to the road. It took a while for Ethan to realise that he was looking at her from the mirror with his mouth open in utter shock. "I'm... I'm sorry... I didn't know that's how bad it had gotten out there..." It was all that Ethan could muster up to say in response. There wasn't any words he could have said to make it okay.

The rest of the way they went in silence except when she was giving him slight directions. It didn't take long for the mall to come into view but the closer they got to it, the more Ethan started to second guess himself. He had always been optimistic and just believed he'd be able to find some safe haven and build some sort of life but after listening to some of the horrors Ayla had witnessed and what kind of carnage the walking dead could cause. The vision was slowly dying. All he wanted was to wake up from this nightmare back in England with his girlfriend by his side, he knew that was never going to happen though.

He pulled the car up around a few minutes walk away from the actual mall, he didn't think it would have been the smartest of ideas to drive straight to the front door causing attention to themselves. Before he got out the car he took a swig of the water at the side of him preparing himself for what they could be facing. Then he moved to the trunk of the car to get his equipment, he chucked on a ruck sack, tied his hatchet and the quiver with the few arrows left to his belt. His knuckle duster went into his pocket and he held on to the bow. "You ready then?" Ethan said in a cheery tone trying to convince himself everything would work out.

"Sounds like we have a deal then." Ethan said with a smile on his face but in his mind he started to get reservations about actually letting her come with him as soon as she said she wasn't afraid to kill him. Now that he thought about it, it was a little strange that a woman was just on her own walking down a road not even attempting to stay hidden with all that was going on in the world, was it some sort of trap and this is what she did? Wait for people to pick her up then rob them. A few moments passed as Ethan thought about whether he was making the right choice, a look of doubt creeped onto his face but in the end up he just smiled again and took the chance hoping she wasn't crazy or evil. "Get in then whenever you're ready... I'm Ethan by the way."

As Ethan waited for her to get in he looked at her and decided to ask her about the area. "So if you're from around here then where would be the best place to actually stay for the night or just to live? You don't really seem too confident about other survivors turning the place into some sort of refuge." Ethan said in a disappointed tone, he had quite a bit of food and water left that he'd left in the bag in the boot of the car but it couldn't last forever and he had no idea how to live off the land. Sure he had a bow and arrow and was moderately okay with it but he'd never hunted an animal in his life. "Something tells me I wouldn't make the best mountain man. I could build a beautiful looking house for you but ask me to make a fire without a match or lighter, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea of how to begin." Ethan let out a little chuckle to himself thinking how much he can ramble on about nothing.

Ethan had slowed the car enough to were it was just rolling along at the same pace of the woman who didn't really look too pleased to see him. People had become slow to trust since the apocalypse happened and Ethan had no idea what she could have been through. Before the walkers swarmed the town, which he started to see as his home, Ethan had it pretty easy. The most he had to do was do upkeep on the homes and buildings everyone stayed in. The rest of the time when he wasn't helping out he was relaxing in a home were the patio of the house basically backed onto the beach. It was a paradise in comparison to the rest of the country, that was probably the reason no one really took what was happening as seriously as they should have. Ethan kept thinking to himself what the community should have been doing instead of pretending everything would work itself out but it was too late now.

As he listened to the woman speak he was thrown back by what she was accusing him of and what she thought his actual motives were. Ethan looked at her with a confused look on his face. "I'm sorry to have offended you." Ethan apologised quickly, not really knowing what he was actually apologising for, it just seemed to be a trait of an English person, constantly apologising. "Well if you want to be left alone, I'll respect that..." It didn't feel right to Ethan just leaving her on her own but he didn't want to force her into coming with him. "Before I go then, do you know if there's a mall around here? If the accent hasn't given away, I'm not from around here." He debated whether to ask her to come with him but didn't want to come across too pushy.
Ethan - A Road - Ayla @Norschtalen

Petrol splashed into the empty gas cannister as Ethan stood next to an abandoned car that was pulled up on a long deserted road. He spat out the little bit of petrol that had got into his mouth. One of the people who he'd gotten friendly with in the town he'd been staying in had shown him how to syphon oil. It was the only way to actually get any petrol now with all of the stations going empty a long time ago. The sun was beating down on him as he slouched against the car waiting for it to fill up, he put his hand in front of his face to cover the sun from his eyes and looked up to the sky, he never had to deal with this type of heat and humidity back in England, his clothes constantly felt damp and were stuck to him.

After there was no more petrol left he slowly walked back to his own car, tightening the lid of the cannister. He chucked it into his car boot next to the rest of his belongings. The tank was full but it was always better safe than sorry. As he shut the boot, Ethan let out a massive yawn not realising how tired he actually was. He hadn't slept properly in around two days since fleeing from the town, he just drove not knowing where to go. Tears started to run down his face when he took a quick second to think what had happened but he wiped them away in a hurry. He jumped back into the black convertible that he'd rented when he was in Maine which felt like a lifetime ago to him now. When he sat down in the car, he took a swig of some of the water he had left and then set off driving down the road again. The car had started to look a bit rundown on the outside, but the engine was still in great shape.

Every time Ethan passed a sign he slowed down, trying to see if any of them were still readable because he remembered passing a mall somewhere close to where he was. He had driven passed it when he was driving down to Miami with his girlfriend before all of this happened. Ethan was just hoping people might have started to live there or there was a community where he could stay with them. He'd given up hope on ever seeing his family back in England again, he didn't even know whether this was happening in any other part of the world. That was one of the hardest things Ethan had to deal with.

A little further on down the road he slowed down as he passed a bike shop, the place looked like it had been ransacked so he didn't bother stopping but he did notice a woman walking down the road. It brought a sad smile to Ethan's face as this was the first person he'd seen in a few days. "Are you okay?" Ethan asked as he pulled up at the side of her.

Name : Ethan Stanton

Age : 26

Skill : Construction, mechanics, boxing.

Preferred Weapons (up to three) : Steel hatchet, knuckle dusters, wooden compound bow.

Personality : Ethan is a very laid person, even after the outbreak. He daydreams a lot thinking about his life before, keeping himself smiling. He hates getting into dilemmas and having to deal with serious situations, still wanting to have a sort of easy life, which makes him a poor leader. Ethan also likes to try and keep peoples morale up in the group, it usually takes a lot for him to get angry or violent. One of his biggest fears is being alone which leads him to trust strangers when signs would tell other people not to.

Brief Bio : Ethan was born and raised in the north of England, just outside of the city, Leeds. From an early age Ethan was always a sporty child wanting to do all sorts of sports and activities. His two favourites were boxing and archery but when he became a teenager he gave up the archery wanting to spend more time with his friends. After he finished high school he went straight into construction with his Dad who also taught him to drive and the basics of fixing a car, he continued boxing semi-professionally. When he started to get paid he began to save up for a road trip of the US with his girlfriend.

When he turned 25 they flew to Maine, rented a car and started driving down the east coast. When the outbreak started they were in Miami, they managed to escape with a few other survivors and ended up in a town. A few months later, walkers swarmed the town, killing most of the people he'd gotten friendly with and his girlfriend. He managed to get a car and set off trying to find a new group.
