Makan nodded. He wouldn't fly just yet, not until his wing was totally healed. In the meantime he would simply follow the old dragon's scent. The horses were spooked by his presence, but he settled them down by speaking the Draconic tongue-- a language that all living creatures innately understood.
As they continued the scent grew stronger. There were fewer animals in the area, even insects. This dragon's presence had frightened them away, and they would not return to this area until the scent was gone. It may be best to burn the scent away... Makan mentally mused. The village would be upset, but destruction is occasionally necessary for life to continue.

"Dragons naturally heal faster than humans," Makan replied matter-of-factly. "Wings heal quickly, as a necessity. Dragons need their wings for many reasons. As for a temporary home, a nest will be fine. Unless it starts snowing. The cold makes my joints ache." He chuckled. "I sound like an old drake, but I am just shy of being 125." He shook his scales. "In the meantime, I should set to finding that dragon's cave. Perhaps bring some villagers with, and a wagon. I've noticed that dragons here in the West hoard more treasure than necessary compared to back home. We have what we need, or a little bit more."

We could do something interesting other than killing them off. Maybe Ryūko wakes up and asks about them, and the nurse asks, "Who's Asuka?"
