Ryuuji stayed in the back of the assembly. Even if his hands were covered being in a crowd was risky. He wasn't afraid of them, per se, but he knew how inexplicably wrong it felt to feel emotions and see memories that weren't your own. It was true that Ryuuji had learned to use it to his advantage but the only time he'd used it outside of simulations was that one time...
He shook his head, and began paying attention to the stage. The young ladies who had been introduced were apparently the student council. According to what he'd been told, they were the strongest students in the entire school. Considering how they carried themselves Ryuuji didn't question it in the slightest. You'd have to be stupid or just plain suicidal to take them on, especially if you were a Rank C student like him. However something told Ryuuji that there was indeed someone that stupid somewhere in the crowd.
How many stories involving tsundere girls have started out that way? Nisekoi, Akame ga Kill, Fate/stay night (Unlimited Blade Works), ToraDora... I can go on. With the help of TV Tropes, that statement is literally not hyperbole.

Ryuuji finished breakfast and checked the handout he'd gotten. Okay orientation is this-a-way, he thought, making his way through the halls. He slipped his gloves back on, glancing at the other students. He had never been able do well in crowded environments, and that was even before his Memory Immersion had been strengthened to its current level. And given this school's reputation even looking at someone wrong could get you in hot water, or so he'd put together from everything he'd heard.
Lots of cute girls though, thought Ryuuji. I wonder how many could literally rip out my beating heart and show it to me before I die, though...?
