After a few minutes, Alice finally arrived home. She changed into a pair of running shorts and a t-shirt as her pajamas and sat on her desk. Now that she had her presents for the twins, she decided to write in their birthday cards too.

For Adelisa, it was a lot easier to figure out what to say so she started out hers first:
Dear Adelisa,
Happy Birthday! You are an amazing girl who's pretty much the entire package: you are smart, funny, gorgeous, and musically talented. I am definitely grateful to have you in my life. So let's celebrate your birthday this year and every year from now on with fun, excitement, and cheers, whether we are 21 or 83. Stay rocking and once again happy birthday!

Alice sighed as she filled the card easily without even getting to write everything she wanted to. Darn the small cards and her large handwriting. But there was Adam's card. While she didn't HAVE to sign it, she kind of wanted to... She wondered whether to keep it simple or not, formal or informal, and heart-felt or platonic. She decided to practice on scrap pieces of paper before she wrote in the actual card to see what she liked.

Concise, simple, and does not show any obvious hints that she may or not like him. She placed the cards into envelopes and then placed the envelopes into their respective bags with their presents. Finally, she was done with presents and it was like a load was lifted off her shoulder.

If she wasn't busy being so serious and ready to go, she would have laughed and enjoyed her little joke.
