Reboot - Prized Bride

Kalani Solle

Kalani could almost laugh bitterly in the irony of her fate. She had worked so hard to come as close to perfect as she possibly could but failed to realize that her efforts had made her more desirable and more likely to be chosen for the Reaping. She could not benefit from the rewards of her hard work, but instead had it plucked out of her hands while she is forced to be some other man's trophy wife.

The Drakken soldier that chose her and another Gem for their lord was not gentle when grabbing them. While it did not hurt that much, Kalani glared at him for his use of unnecessary roughness. However, she did not get the reaction she was expecting. The soldier simply smiled as if she had done something amusing, which only made her more angry.

She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself down. The Drakkens had always been stronger than Gems. That was the reason why they had this stupid Reaping every year. Whether or not the Drakkens decide to attack her people depended on her and the other Gem brides. Even if this is a waste of her potential, it was for a greater cause so she will try to be the best Gem bride she could be. Also, angering one of them would immediately be a death sentence and some Drakkens are not kind enough to make it a swift, painless one.

Before she knew it, Kalani was in front of the infamous Krone, the Scream Taker. She felt uncomfortable as he looks over at them. It was as if he was reading their minds, seeing right through them, and determining their fates right at this very moment. She did her best to hold her head up high, but could still feel her body trembling from fear.

He had asked for their names but the water Gem besides her had given a sarcastic response. Kalani did not know whether to be impressed or worried for the girl. Was she trying to get herself killed on the first day?

Quickly, Kalani answered in a polite yet unattached tone, "My name is Kalani Solle. It is... an honor to have been chosen for a Drakken of your status." She curtsied, hoping he did not notice the slight hesitation in her voice.

Katawa Shoujo RP (school for disabled students)

Name: Kirihara Hana

Age:15

Grade (1st/2nd/3rd year): 1st Year

Disability: Deaf and Mute

Personality: Hana is a serious yet well-mannered girl. She is not really extroverted enough where she would go out of her way to make new friends, but she will talk to anyone who wishes to talk to her. However, she is often viewed by her peers as insincere or cold. She's confused as to why that is and is trying to work on that so she can make the friends her parents always wanted her to have. She often spends her time in the library, reading and studying, or in her room to take care of her dolls.

Background: When Hana was born, her parents sensed that something was wrong. After a few tests at the hospital, it was discovered that Hana was born deaf much to the dismay of her parents. She was their first and only child and the fact that she was born imperfectly was heartbreaking. While they have showered her with gifts such as cute clothes and dolls and have been exceptionally good parents to her, she could still feel their disappointment but cannot do anything about it. Her parents also learned how to communicate in sign language so they could help teach her how to sign as well. For most of her childhood, she was home schooled after a failed attempt of joining a regular preschool. Eventually when she became old enough, she enrolled into Yamaku Academy to be with others like her. Her parents hope that she will make new friends and have a fulfilled life while Hana only wants to make her parents happy.

Other Info:
Because she was born without her hearing, she values her eyesight. She loves to look at all things beautiful and surround herself with beautiful things.
To help communicate with people who do not know sign language, she carries a white board and marker to write what she wants to communicate with them and allows other to write on it as well.
She owns an extensive doll collections and treasure them as if they were her own children.

As soon as Becca placed the plate in front of him, Max forgot all about what he was bothered about. He eagerly picked up the fork and began to chow down. Suddenly remembering his manners, he grabbed a napkin and wiped his mouth. "Oh sorry. Thanks for the meal, Becca. It's really good," he said, giving her a big smile as if to show that he truly meant it, which he did. "And why would I mind if you cooked for me everyday? I should be the one begging you to cook for me everyday."

Everything tasted good to Max, but then again it's been a while since he has had a nice, home-cooked meal like this. And Becca was willing to do this everyday? He could get used to this.

It wasn't long before he finished everything on his plate. There was not a single crumb left to be seen. Although he was already done eating, he decided to stay at the table and wait for Becca to finish eating as well, to be polite of course. "So," he began, trying to start a conversation. "We're finally living together. It feels kind of weird, huh?"

He made the mistake of making eye contact with the girl. He now was not able to release himself from her gentle, blue gaze. He felt his heart starting to beat harder and faster. But still he could not stop staring into her eyes. It has only been a year, but she has matured in that time. Or at least something has changed. Fortunately for him, the table was still between them and that prevented him from doing something he might have regretted.
