Kalani Solle

Bride of Cuwarr Naxremis and future sister-bride of Amalia Solair

Kalani listened quietly as Cuwarr began to talk about hate. She knew that he did not mean what he had said though it was quite convincing. If she had not known about his love for his mother or of his usual kindness, she might have believed him. She had concluded that it was a test, but why? Was her husband interested in the gem?

In return, she continued to preach about love. She spoke of and looked at Cuwarr with such pity, as if he was never loved. "Shut up! Shut up! You know nothing about him! How dare you!" Kalani had wanted to say, but didn't. Because she knew. She knew that this gem was perfect for Cuwarr. She was kind, beautiful, and motherly. What else could he be looking for? She felt her heart drop as Amalia had gently placed her hand on Cuwarr's arm. She wondered if the action had made him fallen for the girl already.

After the girl had apologized for speaking too much, which she definitely was, Kalani finally began to say something. "It appears she has passed your test, mi'lord. And I am quite certain that she will never try to harm you so if you wish, I am okay with having her as a sister-bride," she lied, while taking a step toward the gem. Her words had probably sounded colder than she had intended.

She looked carefully at the girl, noticing her soft, delicate features. Kalani could not help but hate how beautiful she was with her green eyes and long, platinum hair. In spite, she grabbed the gem's face and pulled her in for a kiss. Her lips were softer than Cuwarr's, but the kiss itself was bittersweet. Once she broke the kiss, Kalani said, "Welcome to the House of Naxremis."

"But know that if you ever hurt mi'lord, I cannot let you live," Kalani whispered into the girl's ear. She then went back to her rightful place next to her husband. She reached for his hand and gripped it tightly. She wasn't going to lose to her. She wasn't going to lose him.
I'll try to get a post up as soon as possible.
"Oy, I could've poured you some. You are my guest afterall," Nathan said as James began to pour himself some water as well. But it was too late to do anything about it so he took his own cup and sat down next to his best friend on the couch. He took a sip of water as James began to talk. His friend seemed to be very stressed out with the whole Kylie and the diner thing. He watched as his friend leaned his head back and sighed heavily. Nathan placed an arm around James in attempt to comfort him. "Hey... Things will get better. I mean, we still have our whole lives ahead of us. And I'll always be here to lend you a hand if you need it." He then ruffled his best friend's hair. Was James' hair always this long? Maybe he should get a hair cut soon.

"So relax and talk to me. Or if you don't feel like talking, that's fine too. I could do all the talking if you want." Nathan added. For the entire time that they have been friends, Nathan had learned that James kept to himself a lot. It never bothered him though. If he wanted to talk, he could. Maybe that's why they had drifted their first year of college. But things were slowly changing. James slowly began to talk more about himself and Nathan was there to listen but never to pry.

"Ugh... Anyways... I texted you because I was thinking of breaking up with Rachel. What should I do?" groaned Nathan. His problems seemed trivial compared to James', but some advice would still be nice.
Nathan's soon phone went off and he had gotten a text from James saying that he just got off the bus. Before Nathan could even respond, there already was a knock on the door. A goofy smile reached his face as he got up and answered the door. "Welcome Princess to my humble home," he said with a bow. He had left the door open and left some space to let James in. Afterwards, he shut and locked the door behind them.

"Feel free to make yourself at home. Sit down. Do you want anything to drink? Water? Juice? Soda? Beer?" Nathan asked as he walked over to the kitchen. "Or are you hungry? I don't really have much food though." He didn't really have people over that often, but he always did his best to be hospitable. As he waited for James' response, he poured himself a cup of water.
@Belle
Thanks for letting us know. Hope you have a safe trip!
I lost my head in San Francisco
Waiting for the fog to roll out
But I found it in a rain cloud
It was smiling down

The song was briefly interrupted as a notification rang out from his phone. He groaned, hoping it was not from Rachel. Much to his relief, it was James who had texted him. "Has it really been that long since you last came? Take route 34, fourth stop."

Nathan sighed as he put his phone back down and the song continued playing. James would probably be here in about fifteen minutes. Speaking of James, his birthday was coming up in less than a month. He had better figure out before then what to get for his best friend of forever. When they were younger, Nathan had given him CD's and random shirts that his mom helped him choose out. But now that James was turning 21, maybe the best present Nathan could give him was a wild night out. It'd be fun even though Nathan himself wouldn't be legally allowed to drink yet. Maybe they would go to a strip club like Nathan had always jokingly suggested. Well, he'll ask James himself to see how he wanted to spend his big day. Perhaps James would rather spend his birthday with his family. Nathan could respect that. Or maybe James would spend the day with Vanessa. Did Vanessa even know when James' birthday was?

After about who knows how long he had spent daydreaming and five songs later, he figured that James would probably be here soon. He went to the bathroom and ruffled his already messy hair. He then washed his face one more time to help him feel more awake. He put his glasses back on and walked over to the 'living room'. Waiting for someone to come over was really boring and he hoped that James would be knocking on the door any second now.
I've never taken a public bus before so I don't know how these things work... But I'll do my best.
Welp, I ended up posting because I couldn't sleep.
Kalani Solle

Bride of Cuwarr Naxremis and future sister-bride of Amalia Solair

Her first kiss was not what she had expected. It was gentle yet passionate and she did not expect a drakken to have such soft lips. But what surprised her the most was her own reaction. She did not struggle or feel revolted but instead she had returned his passion and kissed him back. Her back was pushed against the wall but she wanted to lean forward, closer towards him. Her arms had wrapped themselves around his neck. When the two lips had parted, she found herself catching her breath as well and her face was flushed red. As he rested his forehead against hers, she felt the desire to kiss him once more but resisted.

"That was my first kiss as well, mi'lord. And worry not. My promise to you as your bride is to ensure that you will never regret our first kiss," she whispered back.

She watched him as he put his breastplate back on and followed him out of the washroom. He appeared to have return back to his 'normal' self but had admitted that he was still cautious around the other gems. She did not blame him; Sorici had been very close to taking his life. And now as he had given her the responsibility of choosing a new bride for him, she must be careful to ensure that nothing like that will ever happen again. "Of course mi'lord, I will do my best to find you another suitable bride," she said. Then she had taken his hand and led him out of the chamber and back into the halls.

As they walked, she had heard some whispers about her husband and none of which were in good taste. They were whispering about his 'bad aim' and his inability to keep his first wife under control. They snickered at the sight of a drakken being led around by his gem bride. Whether or not her husband had heard them, she did not know but she had ignored them and kept her head held up high.

The whispering soon stopped as something seemed to be attracting the other's attention. Kalani, curious as to what was going on, had followed the rest of the crowd. A gem had been pushed onto the ground by a drakken guard, yet she still continued to speak. "I am Amalia Solair, daughter of the Earth and the Sky. I may not love the Drakken but I will never hate them. Hatred is the poison your people feed on. It blackens your hearts and corrupts your souls. And I swear by the Great Mother Vivari herself that you will not taint my heart with it."

Kalani glanced over at her husband to see if he showed any signs of interest towards the white-haired gem. Regardless, Kalani felt the need to intervene. The girl would be killed immediately if no one would step up. So Kalani had stood between the girl and the guard, but never did she let go of Cuwarr's hand. "You have nothing to prove, sister," she said, her face was blank and expressionless. "Please forgive her. She is most likely hysterical." She had bowed her head to the guard to feign some sort of sincerity which was enough to satisfy the drakken.

"Follow me, sister," she said, lifting her head once more and looking the girl in the eyes. Once they had escaped the crowd, Kalani began to speak."My name is Kalani and this is my husband, Lord Cuwarr Naxremis. While I do admire your audacity, I am obliged to advise you that you should be more careful. I have seen our sisters killed in the matter of seconds here and you might join them if you do not learn to bite your tongue."
