They continued to walk in the opposite direction, or at least Ezekiel thought they were both walking. Zeke paused and turned his head when he heard Nancy call for him and then nothing else. He watched his sister drop to the ground. Ezekiel’s eyes widened in panic as he raced to catch Nancy before she hit her head on the pavement. He scooped her into his arms and cradled her head as she had a seizure. There wasn’t much else he could do but hold her head until the vision passed.
”Damn prophecy,” he muttered to himself. It was not a good sign that she was having another vision. ”It’s okay, Nanc. I’m here….I’m here. Hang in there… You’re okay.” Ezekiel kept speaking while Nancy went through the motions. He hoped she could hear him or feel his hands cradling her head so she knew she was safe.

Jack explained who Stephen was well. The words ‘Supreme Sorcerer’ were strange to her ears, but her soul seemed comfortable with the term. The idea of other worlds sent Annika’s mind spinning for a moment until a frightening new topic was brought up. Jack was from the year 2026, and Madalyne was from a year even further off. Annika opened her mouth to speak, feeling quite shocked.

”I came from the year 1812,” she said, her voice sounding distant.

Annika was distracted as they walked, the strange depth changes not really bothering her due to her preoccupied mind; until she heard an ear-piercing scream. As one, the group looked up at the tower, straining to see the window and where the scream's source came from. Quickly, Jack ascended with the help of the cape. He was soon followed by Madalyne, who used her wings. This left Annika alone on the ground. She shifted uneasily, looking around at the eerie world as her surroundings seemed to shift in and out of focus. It was as if this land was alive, breathing as she did. Annika shuttered and looked up once more.

”Well, cloak, can you get us up there?” Annika could quickly transform into a bird, but she had a feeling the cloak and amulet would remain with her, which would make flying difficult.

The cloak wavered, seemingly unsure, just as Annika was. It lifted her off the ground and raised her a bit before stuttering. It dropped a bit, rose a bit, and took her this way and that until it stopped halfway between the ground and the platform she needed. Annika looked down, then up. She wasn’t afraid of falling persay, but she didn’t want to fall. Not when she was already injured.

”We can do this, cloak. No turning back now,” she said, feeling more determined to try. With vigour, the cloak transported Annika up to the top. She landed next to Madalyne and sighed as the cloak fluttered into relaxation around her. ”Niá:wen,” she thanked the cloak. She took in the scene around her, and her eyes widened.

The primary scene before her was not unfamiliar. There was a battle happening here with the masses against the weaker. Annika’s hands tightened into fists as she took in the battle with a calculated eye. She did not know this enemy, but Jack seemed to.

”What are their weaknesses, warrior!” She called out to Jack, moving away from Madalyne to create a triangle pattern that they could use to surround the enemy with Jack at the point.

The ride back was bloody awful. Cassiopeia’s leg was pretty well numb at this point, but that didn’t stop her stomach from doing flip-flops. She leaned heavily against Rose as they rode, hoping she didn’t fall off. Finally, the tower came into view.
Cassiopeia waited for Rose to get off before requiring her help. She hit the ground and sucked in a breath as pain shot up her leg and into her back. ”I need a drink. Many, many drinks,” she declared. There wasn’t a better pain medication in this time than that.

Willow sat up a little when Sierra turned to go outside for a bit. She sat there, hesitant a little bit. Willow didn’t understand why she was being so clingy. It wasn’t usually in her nature. She frowned at her hands, thinking it through when she heard horses and voices outside.
”Sounds like they are back,” she said and stood. Willow smoothed out her skirts and walked to the door. She opened it up and looked the riders over. She noticed Cassiopeia stumble and saw the dried blood on her leg. Willow turned back inside.
”Rapunzel, Cassi is hurt. I’m not sure if any others are.”

Once the fog cleared, Annika could see the two newcomers clearly. One was dressed in very strange clothing. She had seen similar pants and long, dark jackets in her time, but the styling and material looked quite different to what she was used to. The shirt was nothing like she had seen. The creature that was there seemed to shift before her very eyes. Annika held caution still as she had never seen such an animal.

A healthy curiosity had been instilled within her at a young age, but she became even more drawn to animals after her coming-of-age ceremony. This creature was no different, even if it looked dangerous in nature. Then the creature spoke, and Annika blinked in surprise. They sounded feminine and friendly. How odd this place was.

Annika stepped back into a more relaxed stance, feeling these two could give her more answers as to why they were there. ”I am Annika Falling Star, and I do not know the person who sent me this letter. Have either of you had dealings with Stephen Strange?” She also had several questions about the necklace she wore and the cloak that never stopped moving. Although, it did seem to relax when Annika relaxed. What an odd pelt.

In the distance, the mist shifted once more to reveal an enormous structure. It reminded Annika faintly of the tall masts she had seen in the harbour, yet this structure was unfamiliar. However, it gave them all a point of reference, and Annika fell into step with the other two as they began to walk forward. Now that she was closer, she looked at the creature again. There were horns on her head and a tail much like a lizard she had seen, but it was longer. An image of Onyare flashed before her eyes, and Annika stopped dead in her tracks.

No, Tsyoka'wehkowa… Look how they walk. Onyare crawls on his belly like a worm. Annika giggled for a moment as a memory of Akshótha filled her head. She closed her eyes, breathed, and opened her eyes again. Akshótha was right. The creature was walking and had spoken before. Onyare could not talk, and he preferred water as well, and there wasn’t a drop to be seen.

Renewed in her strength, Annika began walking with the group again.

The others weren’t comfortable splitting the group up further. Antoinette didn’t mind and happily followed her friends down the hallway. She looked over at Neil when he asked about the alternate reality. She smiled a little, sensing his concern about his counterpart. She rested a hand on his shoulder and squeezed gently.
”None of us encountered your counterpart,” she assured him. Antoinette thought Edus might have known something or his counterpart, but Antoinette and the people she was with never saw alternate Neil.

They reached Bethany, and Antoinette walked the perimeter of the room. It was something Guin told her to do. It made a lot of sense, too. One must know all the potential threats, tools, and escape routes. This particular room only had one way in. That was both good and bad. When footsteps could be heard down the hall, the one-way in and out turned problematic.
Antoinette walked over to stand in front of Bethany and Mira to protect them from the potential threat coming down the hall. Bethany attempted to cloak them, and she sincerely hoped it worked so Mira could crack the computer. If they could get access to the whole system from here, it would be a tremendous win.

Ezekiel breathed a sigh of relief when Kristin left quickly. He really didn’t want to be in the middle of the two of them fighting. Once she was gone, Ezekiel shifted his bag on his shoulder and looked at Nancy. He shrugged and started walking away with her.
”She just always needs to have her finger on the pulse. Daughter of Athena, am I right?” Even though she had been Zeke’s first friend at camp, she could be overbearing.

They definitely needed to find shelter. The only problem was Zeke didn’t know the area well. Hotels were not an option. ”Do you want to try and find some abandoned building or break in some place? I might be able to pick a lock. Haven’t done it in a while,” he confided. ”Also, how do you plan on contacting Dad? I have a few drachma if you want to send an Iris message.” He truthfully didn’t know another way. He never wanted to talk to his father and ask for a favour before.

As they walked, Zeke did feel a bit of guilt. He told Demetri he would be right back, and now he was just ditching him. Zeke wasn't sure Demi would forgive him for this, and part of Zeke didn't want to be forgiven.

Annika walked for a long time. Truthfully, she had no idea how long she walked for. It didn’t bother her either way, other than she came across no other soul. This place felt empty, void of all life except her own. She wrapped her arms around herself, calling out in her native tongue and her father’s, hoping someone or something would answer her.

Annika paused every half hour or so, walking around in a tight circle or just standing in place as she looked around. The birds in the sky seemed to follow her. Shivering, Annika started forward once more when this red mist covered her. She released her body, looking at her arms. Curiosity filled her, but fear pricked her skin. That was when the burning started. Annika shrieked and stumbled around as her eyes burned. She had nothing on her to wash her eyes out. Not even the tears she cried could stop the burning.

She pulled her tunic up to wipe her eyes, and through blurred vision, she saw blood. Her fingers brushed against her cheeks to wipe the wetness away. When she looked at her fingers, she confirmed they were covered in blood. Annika dropped her hands and shifted, terrified as she looked around.

There was no one to fight, no one to make the pain stop. Annika was used to living obstacles; not mystical ones. She started to cry more until it became hard to breathe. After taking a few more steps, Annika finally felt a reprieve. She sighed in relief as the pain subsided. The only evidence that anything had happened was the bloody tear tracks along her cheek. However, there was a new challenge. Annika saw two people approach the crossroads at the same time she did. She stepped to the side, widening her stance in case she needed to attack or defend. She watched the two strangers closely.

They wore the same cloak and had the strange necklace on, but aside from that, they looked completely different from Annika. They wore weird clothes. Even their hair was unusual. Annika eyed them wearily as they both spoke English but with a strange accent, she had never heard.

”Tánon' ónhka ní:se'?” Annika asked. She looked between the both of them before clarifying in English. ”And who are you?” She spoke English well, with an ingenious accent with a British lit to it due to learning English from her father. The name the man uttered made no impression on Annika.

Cassiopeia watched Rose get them a horse, and she limped over to her sister. Layla handed a dagger to the chick, who turned around and cut her palm. Cassi leaned on her sister, eyebrow raised in a silent question. Why did you give her your knife? She didn’t think giving a weapon to a stranger was a good idea. Then it got really strange.
The ground started to shift as things, humans, crawled out of the earth and started on a rampage. ”Right. That’s totally normal.” She shifted her weight, hobbling back to wait for Rose.

Willow nodded her head in agreement with Jack. The Grimm Brothers' tales were likely closer to the truth, even if they were rather, well, grim. The Cinderella story always freaked her out. She looked over at Belle as Sierra explained Disney. ”Walt Disney, you could compare to a King, and everything he created, his kingdom. He has long passed, but thousands of people still work to tell stories.”
She watched the others rejoin the group. Her attention shifted back, and she picked at her dress. She hoped the others would show soon. They were running out of things to do and topics to discuss.

Nothing was coming to Antoinette by way of danger or people up ahead, which she wasn’t sure was good or not. However, she was temporarily distracted when Neil spoke quietly to her. She grinned at him a bit, her eyes sparkling, and her fingers tingled momentarily. She petted Arnold as she thought about how to organize her thoughts into the best storytelling for Neil and Mira.
”Well, this trip is a lot more enjoyable so far, all things considered. That one started off casually. We were looking for Lance’s dad when the radar started to go all weird. As we neared the location, we were surrounded by several ships and arrested. We got sent to this space prison, which was quite fascinating, really. I’ve never seen so many different types of species. They kept us in a large cell with a few other people. There was this really kind racoon who could talk. He was funny. He kept wanting other people’s limbs. Anyways, he and his friends helped us all escape. Truthfully, I don’t know if that prison is still there. We created quite the explosion. Oh! And I developed my new pyrotechnic power and got to really use it there. I will admit I am still slightly intimidated by it, but Guin has been helping me. Did she tell you she ran into alternate me? She didn’t go into a lot of details, but she always gets this look in her eyes when I ask… I’ve stopped asking.”
Antoinette stared at the floor as they walked; memories flashed in her head of the prison and how she froze. Gunfire in enclosed spaces was never a good thing for her. She had barely recovered before they were sucked into that alternate reality. It was probably the second most terrifying moment in her life. Once they were back at the mansion, Antoinette started training right away. She didn't want to be vulnerable anymore or a liability to her friends. She cleared her throat, fixed her hair and looked dreamily at Mira — Antoinette's normal state.
"We could search the other rooms. I'm certain Bethany will find us."

Nancy’s fire still burned behind her eyes and in her words. Ezekiel knew she was barely hanging on, but he was glad she was trying. He listened to her words and her plan. He glanced up at the sky, finding it difficult to believe that Apollo would help them. He looked back at Nancy, his mind already made up. He wouldn’t abandon her. Demetri was going to kill him. Or marry a god.

Ezekiel grinned at Nancy. ”Until the bitter end.”

Kristin’s voice reached them again, and Zeke turned to look at her, frowning slightly. She didn’t know when to quit. She informed them they were heading back to the train station, and Ezekiel nodded.

”Ya, we’ll meet you there,” he assured her and he wasn’t lying. They would meet up with them. Eventually.
