Antoinette glanced over at Neil. They stood closer to each other, arms barely brushing the other as they shifted, so she saw his posture change. He moved from looking caved in, to upright and straight. Antoinette was curious as to what brought his shift on, but it made her smile. Antoinette shifted her gaze back to the room when Carolina approached. Antoinette smiled and hugged her friend.
"We're good. How are you and the others?" Magneto's voice drifted back in. His voice was just one of those voices that could do that. She imagined that was one of the reasons why so many people followed him. He commanded a room without even trying. She noticed then that he was no longer wearing his helmet. It rested comfortably under his arm. Antoinette blinked once, twice, and looked at Guin. Well this was interesting. Then Antoinette heard something that shouldn't be.
"Is that…." She turned around to see water rushing down the hallway. A piece of metal quickly blocked off the entrance, but the water just started to seep under the door. They really needed to find the others and get out of this place.

The holy words were working. Annika did not understand the language Runa spoke, but she understood prayer when she heard it. Annika was quick to add to Runa’s words with her own prayer. She called on her Creator, thanking him for life and Breath of Wind. She called on Mother Moon and Sky Woman, who birthed twins. She thanked the good twin for the sun, life, food, and the Sisters of Corn, Bean, and Squash. She even prayed aloud to the bad twin, fearing he ruled in this unforgiving land. Finally, Annika finished with a Catholic Hymn her father would sing. His strong baritone resounded in her ear even as her alto filled the space around her. Several demons fell victim to her prayer, and as Annika watched them burn, a hint of a smile ghosted her lips. If only the demons in her world fell this quickly.

The doors swung open while the creatures burned, and a new group of demons swarmed them. There was no way Annika could leave her group to fend for themselves while she went inside to try and find Ananym, who very well could be Witchfire. Instead, Annika threw her arms wide and looked up to the sky, calling on Brother Eagle to join her. The familiar warmth of the shift enveloped Annika. The bones in her arms grew hollow and light, and feathers quickly covered her body. She shrunk in size, but her power grew. With the change complete, Annika snapped her head down. She looked left and right as her golden eyes took in the surroundings with added attention to detail. Annika took to the air with a loud screech, soaring high above her companions before she dove to grab onto the burning demons below. Despite her new power as an eagle, Annika could not pick the demons up. Screeching in annoyance, she released the demon she had a hold of and flew away, circling once more to rethink her efforts.

Annika felt her cheeks warm when the woman spoke to her. Although Annika knew this to be untrue, Runa spoke as if she had known the language her whole life. Surely, she would have known of such a woman within her stories if it was. Annika smiled warmly, stepping aside to watch Max take Runa up to the top of the cliff. Annika debated shifting into an eagle when Edus approached her and offered her a spot on his floating platform. Annika hopped up, mindful of the small space and thanked Ed.

It was a quick trip, and Annika was grateful to be on solid ground again. For some reason, being human and flying was far more strange than being a bird. Annika didn’t have much time to assess her surroundings before the great door to the castle opened, and a familiar face greeted them.

”Madalyne!” Annika called in greeting, holding her hand up. Kill them all! Annika’s eyes widened as her group was charged at. Madalyne moved on Runa, but before Annika could intervene, Runa defended herself. Relieved, Annika turned her focus onto the demons coming for her. She needed a way to turn the tide, to connect with the land here and learn of his secrets. Clasping her mother’s necklace, Annika shut her eyes and started to chant. Her skin began to glow, and an invisible wind whipped around her as she communed with nature.

The information pouring into Annika’s body was more than she expected. Once the land finished speaking to Annika, she was released, and her vision cleared. She really wished she hadn’t dropped that knife before she came here.

”Tiatén:ro!” Friends, she called. ”Weapons of iron or purity will help our fight. Holy words spoken by our Creator will help end these demons. I also know of several entrances that will get us inside.” She turned and looked at Edus. ”We need to get inside. There may be someone I know who can help us and help break the enchantment on Madalyne.”

Unsurprisingly, Janelle completely ignored Ezekiel’s existence. At the moment, he didn’t particularly care, but he was glad that the cat had warmed up to Janelle so quickly. He hoped after this, the cat would stick around.
Ezekiel frowned at Demetri. He had never been good at disguising lies or his true feelings. Zeke opened his mouth to push the apple back onto Demetri when he felt a breeze; turning, he watched his sister walk into the Lotus Hotel. Ezekiel shoved the apple back into his bag, zipped it up, and grabbed Demetri’s hand. ”I know I left, but I’m not leaving now, so stay close.” He tugged Demetri into the Lotus hotel, following his sister in.
Of course, they should all stick together, but how easy would that be? At this moment, Ezekiel was going to try his best to keep the two most important people in his life right now by his side; however, when Ezekiel walked through the door, that went to shit.

A person walked up to them, offering them a full plate of cookies. ”These look amazing! Thanks!” He released Demetri’s hand to pick up two cookies and offered one to Demetri. ”I’m sure this will be much better than that apple,” he stated before taking a bite from a cookie.
As soon as Ezekiel swallowed, the building seemed to shift around him. The lights became brighter, the sounds more apparent, and the air lighter. Ezekiel grinned and kissed Demi’s cheek before he skipped away. ”I’m going to play James Bond pinball. Come find me later!”

Cassiopeia watched Merlin create his portal. She was still amazed by the magic here. Cassiopeia held Rose’s hand tightly, waiting for their turn to enter the portal. Layla went on ahead, and Cass shook her head affectionately. Rose spoke, and Cass nodded in agreement; she breathed before looking at Rose. Cassiopeia turned Rose’s head gently and looked into her eyes. ”After all this, I’m taking you on a proper date with roses, a candle-lit dinner, and romantic music. The whole picture.” Cassiopeia leaned in then and kissed Rose deeply. It was perhaps a bit much in public view, but the moment called for it. Cass pulled away from the kiss, resting her forehead briefly on Rose’s before heading into the portal.
Once on the other side, the action started right away. Hunching low and following her sister’s back, Cassiopeia led Rose in their group's direction. Cass figured getting into the castle would be easy. It would be the getting Genie to help part she wasn’t looking forward to.

Willow felt a little better after Sierra confirmed she was nervous, too. Willow finished getting ready for the upcoming battle. She looked around at the others, pairing off and joining their groups. She hoped she would be able to see everyone again.
Serria grabbed Willow’s hand, and a surge of nerves was quickly calmed by the comfort of having someone to go through this with. Willow looked into Sierra’s eyes, seeing nothing but the truth and nodded. ”I’ll watch your back,” she declared boldly. Without looking back, Willow followed Sierra into the portal and into the fight.

At the sight of the explosion, Antoinette took a moment to catch her breath and survey the situation. There were a lot of people in the room currently, including Magneto, who they had tricked a short while ago. Antoinette took a careful step backwards to avoid drawing attention to herself. She removed Arnold from her shoulder and tucked him safely away in her sweater.
An orange glow caught her eye, and Antoinette turned her head to see the glow moving over Guin and Lance. She recognized it as Edus’ magic and smiled. At least she knew he was here and okay. As for the rest of the situation, it sounded like Pietro was having a heart-to-heart with his father. She assumed it was going well as no one was currently attacking the other, but that left her with one question – now what?

Lightning continued to flash around them as they walked, seemingly unable to connect with anything. Annika’s hands came into focus during one flash, but they weren’t hers. The paws had returned, but with the next flash, they were gone again. Annika flipped her hands over and back, blinking rapidly. Was that simply a trick of the light or something more?

Wolves were aplenty in her home. She had always found them to be gentle creatures, holding the soul of the world within their very eyes. Their pack dynamics were fascinating. Her people had learned how to hunt by watching the way wolves did; however, whatever she had turned into was nothing like the wolf.

Annika didn’t realize they had reached the castle until she stumbled into someone. She looked up to see the older woman. Annika’s eyes widened, and she bowed her head, apologising profusely.

”I am sorry for my carelessness, Grandmother,” she said respectively.

While Sunshine led the way, Zeke tugged at his new shirt and hair. He was suddenly nervous, but it wasn’t the same way he got nervous before a fight. He and Demetri didn’t exactly end their conversation on the best of terms, and between looking after himself and worrying for Nancy, Ezekiel didn’t contact Demetri again. He could only imagine how disappointed Demetri was. What if he was going to break up with Zeke? After all, the douche party god had Demi to himself for the last three days.

Ezekiel sighed and ran a hand through his hair, giving up on making sure it fell properly. He glanced over at Nancy. He knew she would run with him and avoid this whole mess if he asked. Of course, if they left, the chances of the others making it out alive were slim to none. All the people selected for a quest were chosen for a reason. Each of them had lessons to learn and strengths to provide for the benefit of the group.

”Just another hotel, right?” He opted for nudging Nancy’s arm rather than looping his around hers. Zeke might have wanted the contact, but he wasn’t sure Nancy would appreciate it. She might think she was trapped. ”I mean, I know it’s not, but… Dad said you wouldn’t be caught in their spell again, so um…” Ezekiel nervously rubbed the back of his neck. He wouldn’t be able to help Nancy in there. Aside from Joanie, Sunshine, and maybe the golden halo with legs, Nancy would have to figure out how to break them free on her own. ”Just remember you aren’t alone, okay? I know I will be out of commission, but I’m still there. I’ll still be here for you, even when you go off and be a badass with Aunt Artemis. And you have Joanie, and Mads, and Niah. They are always with you even if they aren’t physically.”

They rounded the corner, and the Lotus Hotel finally came into view. Ezekiel took a deep breath and let it out slowly, looking up at the place. His eyes scanned down, and they landed on a familiar group. His eyes searched until they found Demetri’s. The weight of Demetri’s watch and bracelet pulled on his arm. Gods, please let us be okay. Eros save us, Aphrodite, let us move on.

Sunshine bounded ahead and wound himself around Janelle’s legs. ”That’s Sunshine,” he informed her. ”According to Dad, they’ll lead us to the door downstairs.” Ezekiel glanced up at the hotel before his eyes drifted back to Demetri. His eyes slowly roamed over Demetri, growing more concerned. He glanced at Nancy and then back. Ezekiel shifted his pack, pulled it open and produced the fruit from this morning. He had been hoping Nancy would get her appetite back, but by the looks of it, Demetri needed the food as well. ”Eat.” He handed the fruit to Demi.

Cass followed her sister, pulling Rose along. She smiled cheekily at Rose before kissing her cheek. ”This is kind of fun, hey? I mean, I know we are going to battle against some intense people, and we are in a place that, a few weeks ago, I thought Disney had created, but it’s fun. Getting ready for a fight, a hunt.” Cassiopeia’s skin tingled from the idea of it. She always enjoyed the morning of a hunt. Of course, she was usually up at five o’clock in the morning with the promise of caffeine and bacon.
Cassiopeia got similar armour to her sister’s. Something she could move around in easily but adequately protect her. She grabbed a couple of knives and a quiver full of arrows. She took her usual bow with some extra string should the worst happen. Cassiopeia tucked everything away and surveyed the room. Several conversations were happening around them, and there was a nervous energy about them.

The nervous energy in the room started to affect Willow. She began wringing her hands together, unsure where she should go. Sierra’s hand rested on Willow’s shoulder then, startling Willow momentarily. ”Oh, right. Yes, let’s go.” Willow nodded and followed Sierra outside. All the while, she kept wringing her hands.
Once outside, Willow looked around at all the new faces and warriors. She stood in line, waiting for supplies and swallowed nervously. ”Aren’t you nervous?”

Annika scented the air, but the smell of blood and iron was too strong for her to get a read on anything else. She took a couple of steps back, bending her legs so she was hunched. Her mind started to feel fuzzy, the beginning signs of nearing her limit. She would lose that part of her if she didn’t return to human. Annika hadn’t thought she had been transformed long, but perhaps time in this world worked differently.

Whining, Annika retreated a few steps and attempted to change back to her two-legged form. Her mind circulated old memories of hunting and gathering with her grandmother. She felt an intense heat, and a shiver of effort shook her body. No longer was there a werewolf amongst the four humans but another woman who looked slightly dishevelled but no worse for the wear.

”Kwehkwe, you are new to us,” Annika greeted the newcomer. ”Thank you for healing me.” Human once more, Annika could comprehend what was being discussed easily and contribute to the conversation. In the distance was the castle at hand. Annika nodded and fell into easy steps with the group.

As they walked, Annika examined her hands. She could still feel the remnants of claws and sinew between her teeth. Instinctively, she touched her teeth, but nothing remained there. In fact, there was no evidence on her that she had ever been in battle.
