”It would be interesting to read in braille. You should get an audiobook of the Odyssey in original Greek. The story is way more colourful.” Zeke commented. He had read it in Greek once. The English version wasn’t the same after that, but Ezekiel still loved the story. ”But ya, the lotus plant is infused in all the food and drinks. We are in the den of the modern-day lotus eaters.”
Ezekiel was glad to be talking to Janelle. He wasn’t expecting her to forgive him, but it was nice to have an actual conversation.

Back with the rest of the group, lotus free for the time being, Ezekiel had just finished suggesting getting a rope to tie everyone together when Nancy took off. ”NANCY! Zeke yelled and stepped to go after her. He stopped, though. They needed to stay together. Ezekiel looked over at Kristin and shook his head. ”We need to stay together, Kristin. We are wasting time separating to try and round everyone up. Someone keeps getting lotused, and then we start the chase all over again. Let’s all go get Nancy, then we can go round up Cass, then Demi and Alexois,” he suggested. He turned once more. CRASH!
Ezekiel hit a member of the wait staff. Their tray flipped up, and cake smashed all over Ezekiel. ”Σκατά,” Ezekiel cursed before his eyes glazed over. He rotated in a small circle while wiping cake onto his finger and ate it. ”You guys should try this. Seriously, it's to die for.”

Cassiopeia Hood

Location: Maleficent’s Castle - Team Genie
Skills: Combat Archery; Knife Throwing

Cassiopeia was surprised Rosaline had agreed with her, but she didn’t jinx the team-up by saying anything. She simply looked at her twin instead and stuck her tongue out. ”I’m just saying. We’re pretty stealthy without magic,” she whispered before grabbing onto Merlin.
Merlin teleported the group to a new location. Feeling disoriented, Cassi blinked her eyes a few times to gain her bearings. She missed what Flynn said but certainly heard Jafar's alarm. ”Oh, goodie. They know we’re here.”
Cassiopeia rushed forward with her sister, and the battle began. A soldier came at Cassi, but she dropped to the ground to dodge the hit. She removed one of her daggers as she hit the floor and sliced out at the soldier where she nicked his femoral artery. Cassi prayed it would be enough to slow him down.
Cassiopeia sheathed her knife as she stood. She switched back to her favourite weapon and notched an arrow. Aiming at another soldier, Cassiopeia fired at their shoulder, where her arrow found its mark. Satisfied, Cassiopeia turned to survey the chaos and see who needed help.

Willow wasn’t worried yet. Her heart was pounding a million miles a minute, and she had never worked so hard in her life, but she wasn’t worried about failing. However, Sierra came to her aid, and Willow was grateful for the tag team action. Willow took an extra second to breathe, and that was all the soldier needed to get Sierra on the ground. Sierra reacted quickly and temporarily blinded the guy. The soldier dropped his sword, and Willow didn’t hesitate.
Willow raced forward to grab the sword and used the momentum to swing it. Unfortunately, the soldier recovered quickly and dodged her swing. He turned to face her, and Willow readjusted to stab his chest. He jumped back, but Willow continued to advance on him. She thrust the weapon forward and impaled the soldier. Grunting, Willow wretched the sword back and watched the man drop to the ground — dead.
Willow fixed her hair before she turned around and walked back to Sierra. She offered a hand down to her friend, smiling but also blushing for some strange reason. ”You okay?”

Antoinette smiled softly and nodded at Neil before she stepped back, giving him space once more. They walked for a short time before encountering a new problem. The space station rumbled under the feet. A rushing sound of wind filled the hallway before they were all blasted with wind. Antoinette automatically held her breath. Her mind panicked, thinking there was a hole in the space station. She looked around, seeing people talking and no one exploding or turning to ice and deemed breathing safe. She took a breath, but it wasn’t helpful. The intense wind made it difficult for her to catch her breath.
The presence of the wind was perfectly timed for Max’s return, and Antoinette smiled brightly, seeing that he had returned safely. Guin spoke up shortly after, relaying information from Mary. Antoinette furrowed her brows.
”Have you heard of this Cortez?” Antoinette asked Caroline, hoping she could hear her over the wind.

Annika surveyed her surroundings with invested interest. She had never seen buildings quite like these before. There were new members of their party as well, but they were all dressed similarly.

She took a seat next to Jack once the group reached the table and sat with the cloak wrapped around her. She absentmindedly brushed at the feathers in her hair, mindful of the talons, and listened to the people around her speak.

Due to her long fingers being in the shape of claws, she refrained from eating or drinking anything. Truth be told, even if she had human hands Annika would have refrained from eating or drinking anything here. She didn't know how the food was grown or how the land was cultivated.

The Lady Witchfire seemed to be willing to help them all return to their own time, but Annika remained unconvinced. She came from a time period where people went against their word. They spoke in colourful language that made it seem as if they understood but the outcome was far from understanding. No, Annika did not believe this person.

One by one, the guards went down, and then Merlin took care of all of them fairly quickly. ”Well, where was that spell before I used some of my arrows,” Cassiopeia joked. She took Rose’s hand and hurried into the castle after her sister and the others. Cass knelt with the group, releasing Rose’s hand. Her eyes tracked the soldiers as they ran out the front to attack the others. Halfway there.
Cass looked at Layla and nudged her. ”Since when do we need a stealth spell?” They had learned to be quite stealthy and good at tracking with hunting. Cassi was confident they could sneak through the castle without spellwork. However, she didn’t move ahead of the group, knowing they needed to move as a team unless otherwise told by Merlin or her father.

Willow beamed at Sierra before refocusing on the task at hand. She went for the next closest soldier and went in for a hit. They quickly blocked her. Willow frowned and threw in a counterattack to the other side. Whoever this person was, they knew how to fight. Fine, that’s fine. Willow took two quick steps back before she went for a strike, backed out and slid forward, only to turn around and attack the soldier from behind. Instead of connecting with flesh, she connected with the man’s arm.
Willow looked into the grinning face of the soldier and yelled in frustration. She went for a fake body shot before rising from the ground to make a powerful uppercut. However, he had a jaw of steel. The man only stumbled back rather than becoming unconscious. Willow glared, taking a couple of steps back to reset herself. She held her hands up, her stance open and beckoned the soldier forward.

Thankfully, Janelle let Ezekiel pull her along back to the main group. He looked over at her once she had taken the glasses off. ”Those glasses are pretty cool, but ya, this place plays on all the senses. I’m sure the sound is more than enough.” As it was, the lotus cookie had worn off, and Zeke felt utterly drained. The sounds, sights, and smells were overwhelming. ”And the cookies are fruit from the Lotus flowers. Did you ever read the Odyssey? Homer wrote about the lotus eaters in there,” he said but didn’t explain further in case Janelle had read the poem. He didn’t want to mansplain if she already knew.
Once they were back, things quickly started to fall apart once more. ”I’m okay…Sorry for running off like that. I didn’t…I had no control,” he admitted. ”Demi is with Alexios.” Zeke said it like he was confident Demetri would be safe with the god. Truthfully, Zeke had no idea if a god reacted to the lotus flowers like demigods or humans did. Sunshine started to paw at Ezekiel’s leg, meowing with agitation. Ezekiel picked up that wasn’t a good sign. Gods, this was going to be a lot harder than he thought.
He was handed a drink, and Ezekiel quickly dumped the thing. He grabbed the glasses from the others and tossed them as well. However, it was too late for Cassian. Ezekiel looked in the distance, seeing Demi with Alexios at the slots and Cassian going in a different direction.
”Dammit dammit dammit,” he cursed. ”I should have asked Dad for some lotus-breaking arrows.” He looked at Nancy. They needed her, but how could he keep asking her to put her trauma aside for the rest of them?
The words of the Odyssey drifted into his mind. He was no Odysseus, and Zeke couldn’t drag everyone out of the hotel and tie them to the mast of a ship - they needed to be here - but he could try to keep them all together.
”We need a rope or something to string everyone together so they stop running off.”

Antoinette relaxed when Caroline said everyone was okay. Her state of calm was only furthered after Guin confirmed Magneto meant them no harm. Perhaps this space station was also a retreat of some kind. Antoinette wondered if there were any psychologists on board.
Antoinette was about to retrieve Arnold from the inside of her jacket when Max's powers manifested. Her eyes widened as beside her Neil started to slide forward with Max and Jaclyn. She reached out and grabbed onto Neil's shirt since he was the closest to her. It didn't help much since the pull from the hole to space started pulling her forward. Within seconds though the portal closed. Antoinette stumbled forward. She released Neil but left a hand on his arm, staring at the space where the portal once was. Antoinette opened her mouth then closed it, at a loss for words.
"Are you okay?" she asked Neil, at a loss herself.

Annika soared high above the fight, watching her enemies fight against the people dressed like her. In the distance, she spotted more people riding towards them. Annika couldn’t tell if they were friends or foes. She couldn’t fly over and examine them closer due to a burning sensation that filled her body. Annika screeched in pain and confusion before diving down to make an attack. Before she could move, a horn blew twice, and the demons suddenly stopped fighting. Annika spread her wings to slow her descent and squawked quizzically before landing on the ground behind the others.

Tea? Were they invited to tea? The woman looked nothing like Ananym. So Ananym had an older sister then. Annika folded her wings behind her, stretching her neck out and shaking as she listened. She heard her name being called and turned her head to look behind her. Her sharp golden eyes focused on Jack, seeing him in a new light. She cried out acknowledgement and set about shifting back to human.

Cassiopeia quickly changed her mind; getting into the castle would not be easy. Ten guards swarmed the area, and Cassiopeia was quickly engaged in combat with one of them. Cassi grunted with the effort of getting her bow and an arrow ready. She took a couple of steps back to create distance before firing off an arrow, aiming for the soldier’s leg. Her arrow found its mark, and Cassi quickly moved to line up another shot on a different soldier. Hit! Cassiopeia shifted her feet, kneeling as she reached for another arrow. She notched it, pulled back the string and breathed out before releasing the third arrow on her third target. Hit. The soldier went down, clutching his shoulder. Cassiopeia grinned and adjusted the red hood on her head.
Cassiopeia wasn’t aiming to kill. It wasn’t in her. If she needed to kill, she would have to, but it didn’t seem she had to right now. She was doing enough damage, simply wounding the soldiers. If Hood’s people wanted to go around and finish the job for her, all the power to them.

The sight that greeted Willow was overwhelming and frightening. People were fighting, objects were flying, and dragons were soaring above them. Willow was gawking up at the sky when she was grabbed from behind. She screeched and kicked until she was suddenly free. Willow scrambled away and turned around to see that Sierra had saved her. Willow’s face turned red, but there was no time to say thank you or dwell on the warmth in her stomach.
Willow quickly shifted into a fighting stance. She moved her left foot back, raised both arms and moved quickly. She moved her right hand to land a hook on her assailant’s jaw. The man crumbled before her, and Willow breathed a sigh of relief before she turned around.
”Thanks for earlier,” she said to Sierra.

The lights of the pinball machine were all that Zeke could see. He was engrossed in his game. There had been an arcade near his house when Ezekiel was growing up, and he would often lose hours of time there. The owner had felt bad for him; especially once the bullying got bad.
Ezekiel was on a roll, getting double the points once the second ball was released when Janelle arrived by his side and pulled his attention from the game.
”Oh! Sorry Janelle, did you want to play?” He asked, offering her the machine. He wasn’t upset at all that Janelle had just interrupted his game. Sunshine rubbed against Zeke’s leg, causing the demi-god to look down and grin. Then something snapped in him.
Instead of the lights being welcoming and brilliantly coloured, they were overly bright, and the music was pounding in his ear drums. Ezekiel frowned and covered his ears. He looked at Janelle, registering her words and her intense gaze. She was looking right at him. Ezekiel blushed, feeling suddenly embarrassed and glanced around her. Shit, shit, shit. He left Nancy. He left Demetri. And was that Demetri on the floor? And Nancy on the floor?
”Oh fuck,” he said. Not even five minutes in, he had already done the one thing he wasn’t supposed to. How in Hades are they supposed to survive this?
”Sorry, Janelle, the lotus cookies. This is going to be a lot harder than I thought. We should get back to the others.” But first, there was Demetri on the ground before them, being cradled by Alexios.
”Here. Give him this,” Ezekiel handed Alexios the fruit he had kept in his bag along with some ambrosia. Ezekiel looked behind him, guilt sitting heavy in his stomach. He was worried for Demetri but needed to get to Nancy as well. His head pounded with the music, making him feel sick and hungover.
”I’ll be back. I need to get back to Nancy.” He stood, looking at Janelle and Sunshine. ”Um, thanks…for coming to grab me,” he said.
As he started walking back, hopefully with Janelle, they were stopped by another waitress with a tray of cookies. ”Oh, um, thanks, but we're still feeling good,” he said, grinning weakly before sidestepping, pulling Janelle with him, and hurrying to Nancy’s side
Ezekiel knelt on the floor, staring at the bruises on Nancy’s neck. He swallowed, the guilt really sitting heavy, and looked up. Were those flames? Yup. Joanie just lit someone on fire.
”Nancy… I am so sorry, are you okay?”
