Demetri helped them all out by binding them together. Being a son of the literal sun god, the shadows unnerved Ezekiel, but they were a part of Demetri, and Demi was trying to help them. Ezekiel looked at the shadow surrounding his wrist and hands, linking him to Demetri. At least they were holding hands.
Zeke looked up at Demetri, and his slim margin of happiness faltered. Demetri didn’t look good. He seemed very ill and positively grey. It reminded him of how Nancy looked these last few days, and Ezekiel was not happy. They had to move quickly.
He looked at Janelle and couldn’t help but smirk even though she was calling him a hypocrite like Kristin had. She was actually talking to him again. That was a good sign, right? ”I may seem like a hypocrite, but compulsion does not play favourites. And lotus eaters do love their compulsion. Come on, we need to get to Nancy and Cass.”
Alexios barged in, blocking Ezekiel from Demi, but Zeke still held tightly to Demetri’s hand. ”Hey, ass-butt, we got to get moving. Moon over Demetri when we are at the doors of death, alright?” Ezekiel tugged Demi and the others forward, heading in the direction Nancy ran off in.

Cass relaxed when Rose assured her that she was fine. Layla chimed in with her usual sassy comment, and Cassiopeia smirked. ”Why? Was that in some top 20 hot places to make out article you read once?” Instead of kissing Rose, Cassi kissed her twin sister’s cheek.
There would be no time to make out with Rose. Maleficent stood in front of them with ten guards. It wasn’t a lot of protection, but Cassiopeia didn’t underestimate those ten guards. Maleficent had magic on her side. Who knows what those guards could really do? Cassiopeia slid an arrow out of her quiver and notched it. She took aim while Merlin was blasted backwards. Taking a deep breath in and out, Cassiopeia sunk into the comforting space of being a hunter and fired off an arrow.

Through all the chaos, Willow remained hyper-focused on Sierra’s hand in hers. It was like an anchor, grounding her to this place. Willow kept moving forward, her head feeling strangely clear despite the emotion she felt by holding Sierra’s hand.
Sierra looked back at Willow and tugged her forward across the draw bridge. There was no time for it now, but Willow needed to talk to Sierra after this mess. She could no longer deny what her body was trying to tell her. Willow leaned towards Sierra as if Willow's body was a compass and Sierra was North. Willow couldn’t help but stare at the back of Sierra’s head, looking at the different colours while being pulled along.

Annika, the bear cub, stumbled back from her foe when she felt a surge of power enter her limbs. She began to grow and grow. She grew larger than any bear she had ever witnessed, but it aided her well. She rose on her hind legs and towered over the demon she had been gnawing on. Leaning her body weight forward, Annika came down atop the demon. The ground shook beneath her great frame. Her previous assailant was no more, and Annika turned her focus on the remaining demons. She sliced and tore them in half with claws and teeth. Once there were no more demons, Annika stood there on all fours, panting and looking from left to right with blackened eyes.

After a few more moments of rest, Annika turned her focus inward. She shut her eyes and remembered her grandmother’s hands. They had become smooth with age, wrinkled skin over knuckles and joints that became swollen when the weather shifted. As the thoughts entered her mind, Annika began to turn back to human. Paws and claws shifted into calloused palms with nimble fingers. Black fur changed into the sun-warmed, weathered skin of her people, and the hides of her kills clothed her once more.

Annika touched the soft material of the sorcerer’s cloak, greeting the strange moving material while Jack spoke. She appreciated his knowledge and was grateful to have someone on their side who knew the land. Annika was confused that Ananym was not who she initially appeared to be, but as Annika quickly learned, this land was not what it seemed.

They had lost a member of their makeshift group, but like the others seemed to feel, there was no time for mourning at present. Of course, Annika was sad, but she had experienced a large amount of death in the last several months. The emotional burden was no longer heavy to carry.

”How do we find this woman you speak of, this other sorcerer?” Annika spoke in the common tongue of the group, but her accent stumbled over the strangeness of the word sorcerer. Limbo had no rules, and it shifted often. Even the Stepping Discs that Jack spoke of were unreliable methods of transportation.

A young girl spoke rather harshly to Jack, proclaiming he had no answers or actual knowledge for them. Annika looked at Klara with confusion. Jack had ample knowledge about Limbo, and to know an enemy was to learn of a way to defeat them.

Annika believed Jack was allowing each person to voice their opinions, and Klara was simply expressing hers. However, Annika couldn’t help thinking about her own culture. She would have been punished if she had spoken to her Grandmother that way, as their elders were revered and respected. Jack had not reached elder status by the definition of Annika’s tribe, but his knowledge was something they needed if they wished to survive. Her father even held a certain amount of respect for the men in his own culture. Perhaps in Klara’s culture, it was different. Annika was curious about it but refrained from asking questions. Instead, her way of seeing others beyond herself would have to suffice.

Antoinette quickly wrapped her arms around Jaclyn, being mindful of her injuries, and helped her to stand on her own after the ground shook again. Antoinette chuckled at Jaclyn’s comment and nodded. ”Could. We either end up falling into things or arriving to clean up a mess, it seems,” she noted as they started to walk again.
Antoinette pulled Arnold out of hiding and held the tribble in her palm, scratching him gently with her knuckles. She glanced at Jaclyn and smiled. ”It has been reasonably smooth, truth be told. We came across Magneto and, of course, found a control room of sorts and were nearly caught, but we managed to escape. How has it been for you?”
Once they joined the others, Lance beckoned Edus over to help Jaclyn. Antoinette beamed at the man after he helped Jaclyn. ”Wonderful as always, Edus. How have you all faired?” From the looks of things, their group looked to be the most frazzled. There also seemed to be an argument of some kind happening, which seemed to end once Max and Guin started forming a plan. Antoinette was mentioned twice for her ability to conjure illusions, and Antoinette couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride. She had been lacking in confidence since before the last mission, and although Antoinette wasn’t one to seek out praise, she had been working hard with Guin to hone her abilities. She was glad the others found value in her. It reminded Antoinette she had a lot to offer.
”Of course, I can combine it with my pyrokinetics to make it seem more real.”

Antoinette smiled at Jaclyn and nodded. She stepped back to give Jaclyn space to stand on her own. She kept her arms loose at her sides, ready to reach out and stabilize Jaclyn if needed. With watching Jaclyn so closely, Antoinette was able to see Jaclyn’s suit shift form and the burns on her arms heal a bit more. Antoinette smiled encouragingly at Jaclyn. ”There’s a first aid kit on the ship. We can wrap your burns once we get there. Unless we get to Ed first, and you want him to try his hand at healing. Just lean on me if you need an extra hand walking, okay?” They weren’t out of the woods yet.
Antoinette smiled at Lance and Max when they joined to check on Jaclyn. That was one of the things Antoinette loved about her team. They were always looking out for each other. The group started to move forward now that the tornado was gone. Antoinette remained next to Jaclyn’s side in case she needed Antoinette or wanted to talk.

Ezekiel didn’t understand why Janelle had slapped him. She really needed some cake to loosen up a bit. He went to offer her some shirt cake when she slapped him again. And again. And again. Ezekiel grabbed Janelle’s hand as his eyes sharpened into focus.
”Okay! Okay… I’m good, I think. Ya, I’m good.” He quickly released Janelle’s wrist, so she didn’t feel like he was holding her there. He looked at the mess on his shirt and sighed. He started to wipe the stuff off, trying to salvage what was left. At least he wasn’t wearing one of the new shirts he had bought.
Ezekiel looked over, seeing Demetri and Alexios and he sighed in relief. Demi looked alright and Alexios was, whatever. He looked back at Janelle. ”Thanks Janelle. I mean, my face is throbbing now, but thank you.” He looked at Kristin and frowned at her. ”Oh, don’t get all high and mighty. The lotus eaters compel you to eat what they give you. Its like siren magic. You don’t get the option to say no if their magic hits you. Now, let’s go get my sister. No separating. Everyone hold hands or something. Once we have Nanc we can go find Cassian.”
Ezekiel reached out to Demetri, offering his hand to his boyfriend to take. They had a lot to talk about. Like a lot but this wasn’t the time or the place. Right now they just needed to focus on getting out of this place alive and hopefully before 2030.

Soldiers, magic, and undead dragons. Oh my! Cassiopeia wondered how she was ever going to get anyone to believe what she did these last couple of weeks. She ducked, bringing Layla and Rose with her, when the undead dragons opened fire. Thankfully, they had Merlin on their side to protect them. She pushed her hood back and stood up, ready for whatever came next. The other side quickly admitted defeat and gave up the location of Maleficent.
”Not very loyal,” she noted. Cassiopeia took Rose’s hand and squeezed it. ”Are you okay?” In the chaos, Cassi hadn’t time to come to Rose’s aid. She was grateful to see Rose okay, but some bruises were quickly forming on her neck from nearly having her life choked out of her.

Something strange happened when Sierra blushed. Willow’s eyes sparkled as a warmth filled her from the moment's connection and their joint hands. The sounds of dragons roaring and clashing metal brought her back to reality. Something was definitely happening to Willow, but an epic battle was also happening. She needed to remain focused.
Willow ran in behind Sierra, catching up with the others. She watched Megan crawl out of a dead dragon, and her jaw dropped. That was something that happened in movies, not reality. Willow was glad the girl was alive, but she was even more glad she wasn’t covered in dragon blood and guts. Overhead, undead dragons continued to soar and circle. Willow assumed they were on their side because of Gabriella.

Annika held on tightly to the demon’s leg like a dog with a bone. She was determined to try and piece the skin of this creature. The demon kicked out at her, and Annika yelped as the demon connected with some ribs. Luckily, nothing broke, but the kick still smarted. Annika had to let go in order to regroup.

Annika took a moment and glanced around. Her eyes scanned over the crumbled form of Edus, no longer able to protect and heal them. She looked over to see the other desperately fighting. They were horribly outnumbered. Ananym was gone, having taken Carolina with her. Annika looked back at the demon she had been chewing and narrowed her eyes. Annika was a fighter, and she wasn’t going to go down easily. Growling, she charged forward once more. As she ran, she continued her attempt to turn into a much larger, more fearsome bear.

Antoinette’s hair wiped around her head as she struggled to remain upright. Arnold remained huddled under Antoinette’s jacket, deeming it the safer place for the time being. As they waited for Bethany, Guin, and Pietro to do something about whoever was causing this intense wind, Antoinette watched Neil with Max. She couldn’t help but smile at how cute the two of them looked. She didn’t know if there was some sort of intimate relationship there, but she hoped one might form for her friend.
Max’s voice invaded her daydreams, and Antoinette stumbled forward once the wind ceased around them. She lifted her hands, working her fingers through the knots in her hair, and nodded. Antoinette turned and ran in the direction Jaclyn was thrown. Once there, she knelt and used her first aide training to assess her.
”How are you feeling? Did you hit your head?”

Several things happened next that were all quite shocking to Annika. She was bewildered to hear that Runa’s staff was made up of the remains of her husband, that Madelyne’s second home was Limbo of all places, and that Witchfire was not who she portrayed herself to be. Annika remembered learning from Jack that Ananym was Belasco’s daughter, and she suspected Ananym was the Lady Witchfire before meeting her. Annika supposed just as she could shift form, so could anyone else who possessed the ability.

The doors opened, and a wave of demons descended upon them just as Ananym took Carolina and disappeared. Annika moved quickly. She jumped onto her chair and picked up a knife from the table. She turned, locking her eyes on a target and threw the blade towards the demon’s chest. Annika didn’t wait to see if she made her mark. Instead, she shifted focus to another demon and ran for them, shifting into a bear as she went. Annika opened her mouth to let loose a roar, but it came out as a higher-pitched squawk. Annika looked down at herself as she fell to the ground. Baby bear Annika rolled until she hit another demon’s legs and stopped. Shaking her head, Annika stood on tiny legs and latched onto the demon’s ankle. Unfortunately, it seemed demon skin was much too thick for the sharp teeth of a baby bear to penetrate.
