@Loony Well when they first came to Earth there were no Home-World and Crystal side. There were just Bloodstone's soldiers and the gems that came with Rose. Blood probably even recruited Garnet. So unless Rose brought Talc along, she was recruited by Blood or offered to Blood as servants by Yellow Diamond.
@Loony She was probably a servant gem like Pearl that was forced to go with Bloodstone.
She was considered weak and disposable which had her sent to, what Yellow Diamond saw as, her death. This caused her to hate Home-World and probably only kept in touch with Bloodstone because he didn't see her as worthless since he viewed each soldier as a valuable aspect of the team.

@21308 Bloodstone is too much in the feels right now. He has no time to think about jobs.
