As for the telepathy thing, I guess I'll compromise and say that for most people who at least have an active aura going on, they may feel something strange in his presence if he's trying to read their mind. I just don't want people to get this feeling and then realize he's reading their mind, least of all when all he's doing is reading and not trying to communicate. I hate it when I play a telepath and people just suddenly start discovering their ability to ward themselves against mind reading or become able to pin down exactly who is looking into their heads just by the "strange feeling" they're getting.

There is a reason people do that. Playing a telepath is always risky cause it essentially lets you bypass one of the basic rules of RolePlaying without actually breaking the rules. People post stuff internally for a character because they feel confident in revealing certain things about there character to the audience that they wouldn't want the other characters to know. When suddenly you have a character that essentially is able to read the white text no one feels safe anymore. They can't talk about this or that IC without the telepath suddenly knowing about it. Nobody likes to RP with a guy that has no boundaries were information is concerned and so they not wanting to break the rules themselves suddenly develop the ability to counter it.

Telepathy is a risky thing to deal with even when you're writing a story on your own, it has a lot of nuances that must be observed and generally a number of characters that can counter it so that your character can still be put in a vulnerable position to make the story interesting. Personally I don't like including it in RPs unless it has a very clear set of restrictions, weaknesses and drawbacks. Honestly the day that you submitted Ebon for character review I wasn't doing my job as CoGM, I simply glossed over it cause it was a lot of text that I didn't want to read. Lug said it was fine and I figured that was good enough. If I had realized what the semblance was back then I would have raised the issue and had it sorted out from the get go. I didn't and for that I'm sorry but the fact is that you can't have a character that can learn everything about a person, sort through there memories, learn there innermost secrets without being detected. No one wants to RP with a character like that and while I don't have the power to make you change anything if you keep up that he can do that it will get to the point where everyone is going to keep there characters fifty feet away from him at all times. I know once Sapphire realized what his semblance is she'll probably push him into the lake.
I didn't know that, and even then would Sapphire's father be able to emulate someone trying to read her mind? It's very different from just keeping your mind focused at the task at hand or ignoring distractions. It's not even an assault to the senses or mind-altering unless he's trying to use his telepathy to talk to you.

Not to sound as though I designed this specifically for you but since its become relevant and likely to pop up in my next post: Sapphire's father was a hard core hunter who turned unstable after his wife died. He put his daughter through some serious shit to make sure that she was ready for Beacon, which included mental training from someone who a telepathic semblance.
I'll take my chances on Ebon keeping Sapphire's daggers. Who knows, maybe I'll find some way they could be useful. As for the telepathy when it comes to things like that I usually rely on the fact most people wouldn't know how to deal with it.

Everyone is trained to fight grimm, maybe even more conventional enemies. But how often are you going to be trained to fend against mental intrusion? Might as well ask a soldier how to fix a 525I6000 error on your Comcast internet wifi. Unless he runs into it a lot, he probably doesn't know.

You don't have access to our group doc so naturally you wouldn't have read Sapphire's full bio but Sapphire's father trained her from the age of seven in rather extreme ways. One of which was mental control.

Ebon may or may not actually black mail Shiro. At this point he is looking for Sapphire's daggers with the intent on using them for his own gain, which may involve black mailing Shiro. Or just calling finders-keepers.

And to me telepathy is much like hearing someone talk: All you have to do is listen. You can whisper to try to hide it, but that implies you know someone is trying to listen. Most people aren't aware of telepaths since they don't go around making it obvious someone is listening in on their thoughts. And as long as Ebon doesn't actually try to speak back, most people wouldn't notice he's listening in unless they actually notice him.

It may be obvious since he has to look at them, but would you really think that everyone that looks at you is reading your mind? Ebon glares at people all the time anyways.

She'll kick his ass if he tries to keep them. Hell her team might not be united on much but I can't imagine that they say no to a collective ass beating to retrieve Sapphire's weapons.

With regards to the telepathy that entirely depends on the type of telepathy present in the canon of the story. If thoughts are generally external and you are doing a passive scan of what everyone's thinking at the time they might not notice but if you have to do an indepth search they're going to be able to feel your presence. That includes things like... sifting through someone's memories.
Is she able to alter the mass of objects or the weight? Cause those are two very different things.
Now knowing what he's looking for Ebon had the Midnight Eye R-Type scan for daggers matching the description of Sapphire's dagger. It wasn't long before he found a couple of white-bladed weapons, but not all of them matched the description. But on the off chance that one might be her dagger, Ebon had his R-Types grab the white light blades and put them into a pile. He'll have them fished out once he gathers all the ones he finds.

I might not have been exactly clear before and for that I apologize but most if not all of the metal that falls into the lake is collected by a scavenger Grimm that lives in the cave next to where the mound of metal it located. Not much escapes this particular Grimm and that stuff that does is generally carried off by underwater currents into an underground stream system that stretches for miles. Bottomline is that the lake floor wouldn't be littered with daggers. Also stuff like this doesn't fall off the cliffs that often. The treasure pile Shiro is looking at is years worth of lost jewelry, weapons lost during training, stuff that's fallen off of airships or fallen from the airdocks. Years worth, it's not like the lake is a giant refuse pit.

There are limitations beyond the first 50 feet: He can't use his semblance on anything outside of it, and he still needs to see it first before he can start affecting them. Things within the first 50 just means he can control them while both fighting and moving without worrying about his R-Types just dropping out of the air because someone is whaling on him. Things beyond that are harder to control especially if there's something in his face.

Plus his semblance, currently, is very reliant on sight. If you say, put a blindfold on him, his semblance is essentially disabled. He can't even use it in the dark. Only his R-Types he can use without looking at them (Otherwise he'd never get them out of the Kingdom), and even they still need to be within his first effective range.

How exactly does he control something a mile away if his semblance is sight based? Also what makes his R-Types different from anything else. And if he "can't use his semblance on anything outside" his 50 foot range how does he control things up to a mile away?
And that doesn't seem a bit excessive to anyone? I was rather against him having both telekinesis and telepathy but if that also have that type of extreme range aren't we going a little overboard here?
Exactly what is the range on Ebon's R-Types? He controls them through his semblance right? That lake isn't exactly small and I don't know anyone else that has a semblance that has plus a hundred meters of range.
Most people don't really notice having their minds read anymore then they could notice someone listening to them. And yes, Ebon isn't standing too far away, at least not far enough not to hear Gren. I'm actually debating having Ebon jump over the cliff just to stop hearing Gren talking.

Sapphire's more paranoid than most people and she had a tendency to take stock of who's listening to her. I'm still dubious about Ebon having both Telepathy and Telekinesis but I got overruled on that one so.
What does Sapphire's daggers look like? Would they look similar to the ones she has now? And does she have her daggers with her right now? I might just have Ebon read her mind to figure that out.

About a foot long, white blade, silver handle which is tricked out with a booster and dust cartridge compartment. The crossguard is kind of pointy. No she doesn't. She took out the same type of weapon from the school armory but without any of the fancy tech (also not collapsible, or form fitted to her grip). I should warn you that if Sapphire realizes that your reading her mind she's going to blot you out with a really annoying song.

Is Ebon in the lake right now?
