Woah, I wasn't challenging your ability or experience my man. Just trying to figure out where we'll be going. We're writing collaboratively, right? It's just my input, I'm discussing the rp. That is all. :P

We know. It's just the appeal of it, dawgg. A ragtag group of misfits, cutthroats and vagabonds get together. Hijinks ensue. This is pretty much standard for all the RPs Dervs and I have done together and it's always good fun with a varied cast of different personalities.

Oh, that reminds me. Where do you stand on collaborative posts? Because I generally like them but if they're done with more than 3 people it can get very bulky and take a lot of time to do.

We like to keep collaborative posts short and digestible. I've always had it that collaborative posts are chock full of character development and meaningful character interaction that furthers an inter-character arc. If it's just ten paragraphs of three characters making small-talk or meaningless conversation, then keep it to intertwining solo posts. Collabs are for when characters profess their love for one another, or when two characters have a falling out and an argument, or when a great revelation about a character is brought to light. Don't get me wrong, they don't have to be awfully dramatic. It could just be a discussion of tattoos and scars around the fire, where a piece of each characters' history is brought up and the characters learn more about each other from these scars and Char A's question to Char B about where she learned to cook so well came from.

Now, if it's around a fire and the characters are only talking about the weather and their favorite foods and how much they love cats, then pls no collab pls.
I always like these exercises. It gets us a bit in-character before the IC launches and its always good fun. Looking forward to the actual character interactions, especially with those talking to Brynn. Brynn's a nice enough man in his own way, honest, it's just that he's just as likely to smile at you than cut you. Earning your keep living with a fighting band and keeping two dozen of the same rabble listening to you will do that to you.
I seen men and women just like these. Killed some, fucked some, laughed with some. A lot of them were the same who left me bleeding on that fucking road...

Cedric, his fucking accent is grating and it only sounds worse when he's bragging about this or that. Bigger than me, sure, but so was Ingvar and a dozen others you never hear much about anymore. A good man with a bow, though, friendly enough and he drinks like a man who was nursed on ale. I like him. Reminds me a bit of Karling.

I knew a girl like Fiona, scrappy little lass. Any woman that can spit at my feet and look me in the eyes is one worth having around. She's got a knife-tongue and speaks sharp words. She'd best stay careful lest she cut her throat on them.

Now, Berich. He's a man with deep pockets. The ones with money always have a few left over for the ones with the knives. I think I'll talk to this man more often.

There was one among my band just like Finch. Quick fingers and stringy as all the hells. Beggars have their purposes, toss a coin and lend an ear, you'll know all sorts of things. But Finch, you can see it hiding in the corners of his eyes. There's a pain there.

Ah, the Bone Knight. I like his pretty sword, I like his pretty stories, I don't like his ugly habit. I knew a man who ate the sugar. Knifed him when he tried to do me the favor. But he's a lad chasing stories and a name. I was him once. Once. Follow the fighter's path long enough and you'll end up here, lad.

Greenfingers. What can I say about young little Greenfingers? She stares off into the world often, she has a brightness that only those who haven't crawled through a shit life had. Heard she was here because she tried to fix the world. Now she knows the thanks that the world gives her for good deeds. She'd do good to take it right to heart.

Maulakanth. He's big. Too big. But big men sleep heavy.

Kiralla's got her head in her books too often. I had to learn her name by listening to the guards who dragged her in and we've still barely shared a word.

Oh, Stendarr have mercy on this and that, Auriel's light shine on whatever the fuck. Whenever a knife-ear does something, they always think they're the gods' gift to it. Auriel's light shine on my arse, Grayfhar.

Climb Kit is my favorite character of the game.

Dude, Supply is obviously waifu-material and that time Climb Kit could have totally come in handy during the caverns but was nowhere to be seen completely ruins his character.
I guess she'll talk to the climb kit and supply then

You misread, friend! One handed (so, swords and maces and shit) and hand-to-hand (kung fu drunkman).

The rest of it's on point, especially the sexy librarian. She helps keep morale up by peering at you dauntingly from above her spectacles.

I visit the local library every week for that smell of dust and also that sultry look from above those half-circle reading glasses that arthritic old woman gives me when I once again walk up with the library's only VHS- Commando, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
”You remember what I said, little sister.” Mire said, inclining his head towards the boats, “Keep your head.”

“On your shoulders and your wits.” Brittle said, looking at his knife as he rubbed it with an oil cloth, an easy smile on his face as if he'd only wished his farewells.

She frowned, which given her face these last few days, her visage barely changed. Turning around, she felt like she'd ran into a lantern post, but shaking her head and looking up, found it was instead her father. It was the first time they'd met eyes for any more than a moment. He held hers and she forced herself to return his gaze. He laid a hand on her shoulder and that reassuring weight, that warmth, that feeling of caring and love despite all she'd done to warrant the chopping block... it almost broke her all apart.

“Come back to me safe, my little Thane.”

She nodded, then realized her eyes were closed. She'd dozed off on the boat and rose to her feet, bogged down by the weight of her fatigue. She growled, slapped at her face to wake herself up and stretched her neck out on one side, then the other. She stood there, nothing but the creaks and moans of the ship rocking and shifting with the waves. Somewhere above her, Keegan was heaving up whatever meager rations he'd put in his belly. She let go a sigh and picked up her waterskin- the one that was filled with water- and poured herself a mouthful to gulp down before going to the topdeck. What she saw there was enough to take her aback. The destruction was so complete that if she had never known the College was neighbored by a town called Winterhold, she would have thought the little clutch of huts and houses were never there. “Shor's bones.”

She stood staring, wondering what the chaos was like in those moments, the fear that gripped each unexpecting citizen. It brought her back to those moments in the caverns, the feeling of complete helplessness as she felt the rope bridge snap, the feeling of defeat as she felt herself become weightless, then the furious surge of her will to live as she grabbed onto the stray rope. The rest, she shook from her head with a grimace like she'd bit into shit. When they began filing into separate parties to get onboard two dinghies, she decided to go with Roze and Sevine. Those two she knew, at least. One, a hero, the other... the other... well, she was an amusing presence, at least. As some of them conversed, she stayed quiet. She stayed like that for an uncomfortable while, weighing out the choice between talking and not as if it were choosing which one of them would die. In the end, she picked Sevine. To talk to, that is. She struggled for something to say, feeling of a sudden that she was a stranger and not someone she'd fought death wrapped in metal alongside. She coughed into a fist and bit the blade, as they say, “Shit weather, ain't it?” Good, silver tongued as always, she scolded herself.
Solveig will be joining Sadri and the Ladies. Sadri is both competition and an option, depending on how she's feeling today. It'll be good fun.

Actual photo of my work space while making this roleplay.

It's true, I saw it all. The man's a genius with crayons and cardboard.

Don't get used to it. I wouldn't want you thinking I thought you were actually worth more than a pair of socks and a McDonald's Value Meal.

haha oh, you! Stop it!

It seems to me on the second and third read through of Brynn you did an awesome job of dropping his (hella problematic) escalating need for war and fighting right where the story kicks off. You built up the backstory really well in that regard giving his life an erratic but still linear description.

Though despite having immense respect for Karling did Brynn ever hold the rumours or false stories to him? You noted he enjoyed the perks of having a reputation and disliked lying but at any point did he begrudge Karling for pushing those stories?

Edit: Like actually confront Karling for it.

Thanks for giving that to me. I originally imagined Brynn being the embodiment of reputation being bigger than the man, so any chance I can get to think out how a person like Brynn would act given a situation is good with me. I suppose that as more and more stories about him were piled onto him, Brynn would've grown to be angry at Karling. The fact that Brynn's life was only saved by Karling tripping up Brynn's opponent in the dueling circle would've made Brynn simmer in silence. I'll be sure to add that in.
