I am a damned sadist in the way that Mather Memorial has always been envisioned as a modern but very much stereotypical athletics driven American school. In particular, I see football as the big sport on campus, with basketball and hockey rounding out the trinity of athletics. Jocks and cheerleaders definitely rule the school with art programs taking a back seat to athletics in terms of funding.
The Mather Memorial Ravens even have an annual hazing ritual where they take a freshman during homecoming and strap them up like a scarecrow for the night of the dance in a field not far from the school. The majority of the faculty and town, in general, turn a blind eye to this as the athletic teams win.

While the Hyperhuman Social Conscious Program will have a secluded classroom as detailed in the upcoming IC, it's more or less a single open class taking place at the end of the day. Any student is allowed to enroll, Hyperhuman or not as the idea of the program is to encourage community between Hypes and non-Hypes as well as a responsibility for Hyperhumans to take ownership and control over their gifts. Our characters are expected to attend regular classes throughout the remainder of the day. Keep in mind you don't have to be outed as a Hyperhuman, your character is allowed to hide their true nature from their peers out of fear of bullying or ostracization.

Regarding the high school setting: what is the high school really known for? I know many high schools are known for their arts programs, or their sports programs, or they excel in one particular sport program. After establishing that, I think it'd give us a more clear understanding of what the student body is like! I know schools geared towards arts programs tend to have a lot less bullying when it comes to band geeks and such. And those that are known for their sports teams tend to have a lot more discrimination and feature a more cliche high school hierarchy.
ALSO, what exactly occurs during the Hyperhuman Social Conscious Program? At the local high school here, they have what they call a 'Bridge Program' which is basically an entire wing of the school closed off for students that struggle within a large student body and the program features more 1 on 1 learning. Would it be similar to that or is it like a regimen of classes that are more or less extracurricular? If so, do they attend classes with normal students as well?

His parents were very hard on him, expecting more than just his best, which caused Felix to begin to grow with a lot of self-discipline, but also a need to continuously impress his parents to try and win their sparse acceptance. As he went through his childhood watching his parents boast in their success and their movements within societies, he began to become so immersed in trying to live up to their potential until he began to drown in a sea of rigorous classes and intense sports.
Suffocating by the need to improve more substantially, Felix's body began to change with his motivation to rise above the adversities that seemed to kill him. In this case, he needed a way to be better than his best and these changes took him to the football stadium on a cold October night in which they were facing a rivaling team. Although that particular game was seen as a huge victory at the time, Felix illegally used his powers covertly to take the team to bigger and better things. An opposing team monitored that particular game until they became suspicious of his nearly sudden boost of strength. They suspected his hyperhuman abilities, so they enforced a screening that displayed the usage of his powers. ◼ W E E K 0 0 1: The world of Crestwood shows Hyperhumans as being possibly one of the most oppressed races in history, they're unable to hold positions of authority nor able to use their gifts without fear of punishment. How does this affect your character and their relationship with society both as a whole and within the confines of a highschool social heirarchy? How has discovering that they are a Hyperhuman changed their worldview?
For Felix, the intentions of his decisions and his achievements were clouded by the, already harsh, judgement of his parents. Obsessing with trying to impress or earn the approval of his parents, he paid little mind to the oppression of hyperhumans until he became one himself. It was very easy for Felix to overlook the discrimination occurring since it was never an obstacle for his true goals in sight. However, his parents are very present within political and cultural standings of oppressing the hyperhumans, believing that all humans should be equivalent in nature within a protected system to avoid dangerous inequalities of power. Upon the day he was gifted with his powers, he used them blindly and became lost within his naive and competitive essence, believing that he could use them to his advantage while going unnoticed.
Thus, he used them slyly to his advantage until it became apart of him. Without these powers, his substantial improvements would take a toll, putting him back on the stubborn plateau of his strength before the dawn of his powers. And as it was so, the discovery of his powers occurred and he was made to be one of the biggest laughing stocks of the highschool population. Cheater, liar, idiot, try-hard, worthless, etc. The list seemed endless, and every term chipped away at his confidence until he became a mess of self-hatred and shame.
Concurrently, his parents shunned him for being their biggest disappointment, and their work also took a toll as they raised a troubling hyperhuman that made the headlines of numerous articles and news castings. They, too, were casted negatively -- hypocrites, illiterate, ignorant, etc. Turning to anger, they stripped Felix of what little he had left after being exposed. They took his car, they took his video games and other recreational outlets, they grounded him from going out into public, and they forced him to wear an ability suppression device in the form of a gold bracelet.
Felix views the oppression against hyperhumans as valid. He sees them to have an unfair advantage when it comes to a plethora of things, creating a forced inequality between the human race on a level that greatly surpasses the simple differences such as race, skin color, hair color, etc. Whether this outlook be strongly influenced from the work of his parents, from the self-hatred he has of being a disgrace, or from his true outlook -- Felix believes that it's a curse upon humans. The hyperhumans face oppression, while the normal humans struggle with their placement in society -- everybody seems to lose.

A tanned, brunette with big brown eyes and a cheeky smile make for a perfect member to a popular fraternity. Blessed with a body that doesn’t require strenuous exercising to maintain a toned, masculine figure, he styles his body with nice, trendy clothes to accommodate for his preppy style. Although his face holds a youthful, clear complexion that is free of acne, small scars can be seen from past fist fights with high school rivals and angry, drunken fights. With dimples that sit below his prominent cheekbones and beside his soft lips, he easily creates a nerdy-cute persona. Blake keeps his hair well-groomed and nicely styled nearly all the time, feeling awkward if he goes into public with unkempt hair.

Growing up, his real parents were travelers, wanderers, perhaps referred to as gypsies, creating Blake’s carefree spirit and boasting demeanor. To add to their many different titles, they were born musicians and busked for a living, save from the occasional gig that they would book to buy a nice dinner for the night. This lifestyle was enjoyable, although minimalistic. They didn’t have a lot and they survived in a driving trailer that they stationed from city to city within Scotland. Blake picked up all sorts of talents from an early age from being surrounded by a lifestyle that invited all forms of artistic, free nature. Living was easy, especially when all you know is what you have.
Blake grew very close to his parents, spending nearly all his days with them and being stuck in a trailer with them all the time. His father was also a skilled hunter and taught Blake several survival skills and showed him how to use a rifle. His mother was caring and very spiritual, meditating each morning before whipping out her guitar to play tunes along the roads. It would seem as if Blake was destined to have a lifestyle similar to his parents, given that he wasn’t able to stay in one location for a long period of time.
The wanderer spirits of his parents had trouble staying in one place to ensure a consistent education for Blake. Learning became difficult and stressful for Blake, especially since he really enjoyed everything about school. For several years, he would live attending different schools until summertime would hit, and they would be all over the country again.
Upon reaching the age of ten years old, his close aunt Jane came into the picture. His aunt and his mother were very different, but showed many similarities in terms of their appearance. His mother being a traveling musician really contrasted his aunt’s professional, business-like persona. After many discussions, they finally came to an agreement in that the family would move back to the U.S., and that Blake would stay with his aunt to save from a sporadic lifestyle.
Being welcomed into a home of success and luxury, Blake found it hard to leave his parents' side and jump into a life leading to opportunity and education. While he was a very bright child, he missed his old ways with his joyful, carefree parents. Day after day, he would eventually find comfort in his new lifestyle before picking up other hobbies to mask the bittersweet sadness that he would have from leaving his traveling home. His parents visited as much as they could, but they were consumed by their addiction to the arts and traveling.
As years past, Blake would succeed in high school and acquire several friends and acquaintances that invited him to all sorts of parties. It wasn't until his early highschool years that he would begin to unravel the secret to his bloodline in a drunken, telekinetic fist fight. While many thought they were seeing things, Blake knew that he was possessing a much more bizzare ability. Incident after incident, he went to go get answers from his biological mother in which she unveiled many truths, but also many secrets with combined dangers. Blake was then told to be the successor to a bloodline of rather lightheaded, flighty witches, but his ancestry were no less talented than any of their many counterparts. It was then that he would be gifted with his grimoire that revealed and manifested a plethora of spells, rituals, and incredible magic.
Studying the book was not like studying any ordinary text book. Up until now, Blake studies this grimoire in hopes to master it and become a successful warlock, much like his ancestry, and give his family name the true glory that it deserves. Though, he is curious of where their family's talisman went, since it was lost throughout the years.
Now, as Blake attends medical school, he begins to create his own secrets. Call it cheating, call it whatever you like, at least the job is done. Blake brings magic to the doctor’s table, the surgeon’s table, hell, even to the kitchen table. Nowadays, Blake treats injuries primarily through magic, rather than first aid and medical doctor practice. Although his skill with medical practice is adequate, the quickness and the shortcut through magic gives him his title of ‘The Best Medical Intern’. This secret not only gives him his title, but it is hastening his progress through medical school which will save time and money in the long run as well as ensuring great career opportunities post-graduation.
Aside from what could be a harmless secret of his, Blake also bears a much darker, realistic secret that really gives meaning to what it's like to be a warlock. Just starting medical school, at one of the biggest parties not too far from campus, it would seem as if there was a contest on who could get the highest high. As things were taken too far, a close friend’s girlfriend began to have a severe reaction between a mix of various drugs and potent alcohol. Afraid to get assistance from cops, Blake attempted his magic once he brought her to a quiet place with nobody around, but his own high clouded his focus and reversed the effects of a difficult spell meant to be a detoxification. The girl became poisoned and her blood ran black and thick with only seconds left to live in which was only filled with screams from a burst of pain. The door flung open as people crowded around the body in horror. Blake had to continue his life knowing blood was on his hands, blaming the drugs for the terrible incident.

Blake excels in what he calls ‘green’ magic, a mix between a traditional witch and a green witch. Joining medical school and learning the human anatomy helps him understand which spells would be good in certain situations. Blake can get a rough analysis on the condition of a given body through touch or through auras. Blake's abilities include:
Healing by touch can only go to such an extent. While it would be incredible to heal an individual to great extents with a simple touch, difficult injuries and illnesses require other methods. Healing is an entire subdivison of magic that nearly holds it's own grimoire, which is why the Burrough's family has such a thick book of spells. Extensive healing can be done through rituals, utilizing regeants, creating concoctions, or other ways in which all require more time and focus. For decades, the Burrough's family have been trying to master their craft in hopes to uncover many world-changing abilities. On the contrary, these incredible spells come with many risks if failure were to occur. Instead of fizzles, many of these spells can turn around and create an opposite desire, reverting to extreme harm rather than extreme healing.
While herbalism has existed for centuries throughout humanity, the Burrough's family took it to the next level. Utilizing herbs and plants has always been a building block for their magic and is used to create all sorts of spells, potions, and concoctions. From pastes to place on wounds to potions that can alter a foe in any desired way, this dandy trick has always served as a good use.
All in all, green witches are always in unison with the earth and serve to protect, aid, and utilize it. Whether it be understanding animals, the way plants work, or the weather patterns, they almost serve a lawful purpose when it comes to the environment, despite their dark, sinister heritage.
While having these specialized witchcraft abilities, Blake also bears survival skills from learning from his father. He was taught several tricks and skills to help live in the wild should he ever need, but that was primarily a hobby rather than a foreseen necessity. As of recent, Blake is also generating several skills that come from his medical school, creating his brain as some sort of healing encyclopedia. Although he's still learning, he can still apply quite a bit of what he's learned.
