The owner of this has not given up, but the owner of this has a job, and lately he's had to work much later, so he gets home and immediately goes to sleep.
If you want to help the rp in the mean time, everybody PMing me ideas would be helpful. Expect more this weekend.

I get the feeling that since this is so far in the future, only a moderate amount of knowledge regarding the Universe is required as opposed to being a full on Trekkie and able to speak Klingon. Haha. So I'm hoping we should be fine.

That is indeed the case. I set it further than any other series to
A: Avoid dates conflicting with canon dates
B: Avoid rewriting the canon

Since Star Trek's rendition of the 3000's has time travel commonplace enough that timetravel devices are in highschool desks, I put the "No tech development for the past 200 years" thing in place. Technology will be mostly from The Next Generation's timeline. Warpdrive can still malfunction, Time Travel is still a tremendously big deal, etc.
For now, what I want to know is what people would be interested in as I develop the roleplay. Race Customization? Diplomacy vs. Violence? Interpersonal relationships? These are all things I have planned for, but still, I wanna know about stuff you guys would like.
Glad to see so much interest! I'll be editing the description more today.
Although going back-and-forth in PMs doesn't make me a member, I'd throw my hat in for the six month timeskip. Mostly because it'd allow for more character arcs without having to stretch the suspension of disbelief that new character arcs all seem to begin at once.
That's just the peanut gallery's two cents, though. I'll be creeping back to edit my CS now, don't mind me.

Space: The Final Frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Tyson. Its five-year mission: To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

It is the year 3013. Although major technological advancements have been at a standstill for nearly 200 years, those two centuries have also been met with relative peace in all of the known universe. 233 years ago, The Borg Collective was destroyed by an alliance of The United Federation of Planets, The Klingon Empire, and The Cardassian Union. This was seen as a major turning point in universal history -- The one enemy who could not be bargained with, who could not see reason, and who only wanted absolute conquest of the galaxy had been completely wiped out. The war lasted only five years, and was known as "The Great Quelling", in reference to the overwhelming allied victory. Although more than three million allied troops were lost, The Borg Collective in its entirety, just over sixty billion, was outright erased.

Thirty years after that, The Dominion faced the same fate, while Klingons and Cardassians joined The United Federation of Planets, which has become the universe's sole superpower. With the warlike Klingons brought to relative pacification, and the once ruthless Cardassian people holding several peace awards within The Federation, large-scale war has become a thing of the past.
Ten years ago, this peace was challenged.

WIP Description: In response to increasing hostility between several spacefaring nations, The United Federation of Planets launches USS Tyson, the first-ever NX-04 starship, capable of safely traveling at Warp Factor 10. Specifically, the crew selected while mostly human, features a very diverse group of beings from across the galaxy. Seen as a subversive testament to peace, the formerly hostile nations agree to parlay temporarily as they treat. In the mean time, the USS Tyson continues on the missions of any other explorer-class ship. Other than being involved in the missions themselves, characters would also have individual arcs and relationships.

OOC Note: The RP itself will be rather similar to the show -- Small, non-universally significant plotlines involving crew missions and relationships, in the form of "Episodes" (Name subject to change. Episode sounds rather gimmicky next to "Chapter" or "Part"). After completion, each episode would be fitted with a synopsis for easier navigation for new crewmembers. Every ten episodes or so, the crew's mission will become rather dire, affecting the plot itself in the long run. The characters themselves will be the Senior Staff/Bridge Crew. As mentioned, the crew will be mostly human, but offer a fair deal of diversity. Players can create a character with one of the races the show has provided, or create their own. This would be aided by tools such as Heromachine 3.0 and PlanetMaker.
I do hope it's not too late plot-wise for a newcomer.
Question! Would playing as a humanesque robot be a possibility? In terms of practicality, It'd probably be treated like Data on Star Trek by calculating probability, withstanding inhospitable environments, doing ambiguous sci-fi scans, and doing other neat robot-y stuff. As for psychological drama, it could be taken in a lot of ways. One crewmember could insist the robot is an emotionless machine, they could ponder what it means to be human, the ethics of considering a robotic crewmember expendable could be questioned, etc.
Unfortunately, I have to bow out for now. Best of luck.
"Hey Pooch."
Lenny sat on the floor of the kitchen, on the furthest corner from the refrigerator, sitting next to carl. One arm was wrapped around the dog, scratching behind his ears, and the other held a can of pepsi. Lenny wasn't one for ice-breaking, so he followed suit with his usual strategy at parties or gatherings -- going to the kitchen. Although he had been beaten there, it was large enough for him to sit at the other end unbothered. That, and Lenny looked far from friendly. Even if he was shorter and not as muscular, he would still wear his old neighborhood on his unsmiling face. Lenny wasn't angry at all, but he always looked like it. Carl whined lightly as he stared at Lenny's soda, before looking at him longingly. "Dogs don't like soda." He continued scratching behind his ears, pouring the rest of his can down his throat, and then crushing it triumphantly.

He burped and then stood up, tossing his can trashcan near him, not paying attention to whether or not it went in. "You gotta name, pooch?" He kneeled down to Carl's level, exaining the collar that rested above his vest. "C-A-R-L" Lenny sounded out, squinting to make out the tiny engraved letters. Although he would never admit it, Lenny's eyesight wasn't the best. He believed glasses were for nerds, and so he went without them. "Carl it is. I'm Lenny, Carl." He chuckled to himself, and then stood up to stretch. From the doorway of the kitchen, he noticed something interesting enough to take his already short attention from Carl.

One of his new roommates had run to a door, and was seizing up, almost twitching. Nobody else seemed to notice, having been preoccupied with their socializing, and so Lenny stepped out of the kitchen. Walking to the boy in quickened, long strides, he was directly behind him in an instant. He stretched out his hand to the boy's back, unsure if he should touch him.
"Yo, you good?"
