Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: Matthew has a double slash mark, in the form of an X, on his back. The left mark goes down from his back shoulder to his mid back, while his right is slightly lower then it. He also has a tattoo of a Kyrat dragon down his left upper arm. Matthew doesn't have any piercings.
Personal Style: Matthew's clothing style is rather laid-back and can chuck on almost anything depending on the situation. For missions regarding as a mercenary, he usually wears a reddish-brown, or simply brown, leather jacket, ending with a cape-like bottom, similar to
this, with a black or dark grey undershirt. He also wears regular work pants that are loose enough for him to move around in. He also wears a special helmet that can help him with tracking down opponents and good for night vision, as well as a hat sometimes. In his words, Matt "wants to look stylish, but badass at the same time."
When it comes to working around star cruisers or in bases, Matt's attire is, again, putting on what's in front of him. However, he is usually seen in a white t-shirt, with black work overalls, or in one of his working leather jackets. He isn't too picky about what he wears though, he really is fine with almost anything.

Personality: Matthew is usually an upbeat and care-free individual who happens to love his job as a mercenary. He loves to go on various alien worlds and explore the living crap out of them, as well as shooting bad guys in the process. He also likes cracking up a few jokes here and there, usually being sarcastic and cocky in various situations, all while retaining a high confidence of himself and towards his friends. Some say he's almost like a grown child at times, seemingly innocent and taking life at an almost leisurely pace. In fact, some have even compared him to the famous Han Solo, only being much less cranky and cynical of course.
However, when it comes to more gritty situations, Matt can instantly change his mindset to fit the present situation. In battle, he's quick-thinking and can almost get himself out of any situation the galaxy has to throw at him, even if his plans can almost get him killed in the process. He's also very relatable to most folk, as well as a good listener and emphasizer, and often tries to cheer them up if they're in a soggy mood. Overall, despite his more childish personality that he usually shows, he can also adapt to the situation at hand if need be, proving to have rather flexible personalities.

The Reason You Chose The Side You Did: Matthew joined the Rebellion due to two things. The first was obviously for adventure. The second however, was due to both his father and older brother being executed by the Empire, and he joined the growing rebellion to avenge his death. That was when he was done playing the neutral card as a smuggler and decided to put his skills into proper use. Plus, he always wanted to help make a better galaxy for everyone against the Imperial's wrath.
History: Matthew Senrick McConnel was a caucasian human male born on the planet of Corellia. His mother died when he was very young, hence he lived in an all male house hold, with his father and older brother, Antony. His father was a well known smuggler who was often away for long periods of time, leaving he and Tony to live by themselves, but never did he let them run out of money. The two were known to be troublemakers at school, often pulling pranks and being rebellious to their superiors at times, but were always somehow able to keep themselves from failing school altogether. Regardless, they didn't want to learn to become say, an engineer, or some boring politician, they wanted to explore the galaxy, and to ultimately follow in their father's footsteps no doubt. On some occasions when they were younger, he would take the two brothers out on his starship and they get to watch how he works, as well as sightsee different planets in the process. Life for them seemed pretty bright.
However, it was after the Clone Wars was when things turned to the worst. When the Galactic Empire rose to power, they cracked down on crime and rebellion throughout the rising and glory days of their reign. This made it more difficult for Matthew and his family to live, with their income made almost solely on illegal activities, such as gambling and trading in Spice. Despite this, for awhile they were just able to make it above poverty levels. They eventually fought alongside the rapidly growing Corellian Resistance movement against the Empire, trying their best to raise up against them. Unfortunately, it was during a full scale battle, that Matthew's brother was severely injured and later died due to his injuries. He and his parents grieved over his death and secretly buried him on top of a hill a mile away from the town they were living in.
Matthew knew that he shouldn't stay in Corellia for any longer, especially how the Empire was already pushing back the resistance into almost certain defeat. The two then decided to make a risky move into trying to escape the planet's airspace and get as far away from the Empire as possible. But as the two quickly head to their ship, Imperial stormtroopers were right on their heals. Long story short, Matt's father sacrificed himself to make sure that he was able to escape, in which he did. Both saddened and angered by their deaths, he fell into a short period of agonizing depression, unable to know what he should do. He felt helpless and lost. Perhaps he should just go somewhere far, far away and never be seen again.
That was when he discovered the Rebellion, along with it's recent victories against the Empire. Perhaps there was a way to fighting back after all? Feeling like he just had a new lease on life, Matthew then joined the Rebellion Alliance, where he became both a smuggler and mercenary, fighting back against the Empire with rapid success. He even once went on a mission with Han Solo and his partner Chewbacca on an Imperial weapons factory once. Once again, he felt just like himself again. He had participated in many great battles, such as the Battle of Haidoral Prime, the Battle of Hoth, and even taken part of the Battle of Endor, as well as other low-scaled missions as well. By the time the Rebellion turned into the New Republic, Matthew was a well known mercenary and part-time smuggler. After Endor, he came back to his home planet Corellia to visit the graves of both his father and brother, telling them that they've been avenged and that he will continue to serve the New Republic till the Empire was absolutely defeated once and for all.
While also getting a good kick out of it too...

Anything Else: Matthew earned his armored suit after his mission with Han Solo and Chewbacca, in which he was presented it by them as an honorary gift. He has been close friends with them ever since.
Have to go with the Force Awakens. May be considered a more modern reinterpretation on a New Hope, but man, they brought in good new characters as well as the old. Can't wait for Episode 8 and 9!
