William is perhaps simultaneously the best and worst man for his job as a journalist, being talkative and bold enough to follow threads of information on a topic to lead him to a unique conclusion that most would rarely reach but also being far too easy to goad into an argument or a fight. His tendency to be hotheaded and act on his own will without telling anyone of what he has learned has often gotten him in trouble with others, even ending up spending a night in jail after a few bar fights. He almost seems to take a destructive attitude towards good news, finding it to be poor for business and often wanting to push people to hear something more interesting.

Despite his tendencies towards violence, likely related to his upbringing by a strong willed Irish Father, William happens to be far smarter than he acts. He almost always seems to hide the extensive knowledge of subjects, albeit none of which he has ever mastered, as it doesn’t exactly pertain to his work. The only time Will ever makes note of such knowledge is when he is writing a particularly piece or to get information from others on what he is looking for.

Biography:

”I don’t regret much about me young life. What I regret most was my stupidity as a child. Promisin’ me life to a childhood friend, dumbest move I’ve ever made.”

William was the first son of his family, only a year younger than his sister, and instantly set up to be the family heir. That is to say, he was given everything that his family could give him. He got the best education, the most recent fashions, the best food, but he didn’t like the posh life his family gave him. He wanted to be free and know what it was like in a world not so bright and rich as the one he lived in. Will was constantly defiant of his parents, often ditching his tutoring lessons to go run through the streets of London. Life as the heir to his family’s shipping business was boring compared to the life he encountered on the streets, the stories of drunkards being arrested for fights and people being hauled off to spend some time in a cell far more titillating than lessons on arithmetic and cursive. 

It wasn’t surprising that the young man eventually grew up to be journalist, though this was to the dismay of his Father as it meant that all the training his son had received to take up position as heir was all for naught. William was ever defiant and wouldn’t stand down for what he considered to be his calling and far more interesting than managing a business and the flow of cash. Yet, he wasn’t willing to forget of his family like a vagrant and agreed to take over the company when the day came that his Father passed it on to him. Such a day was coming soon as he was actually on his way to London to talk to his dying Father.
