He has always been the person to go with the flow, always open to new adventures and endeavors. He's easy with a smile, and even easier to approach. Playing the piano, his parents pushed him to learn, and over time liked it. Dancing, ever since he learned he has liked dancing salsa. H A B I T S : When in deep concentration, he pushed his glasses up his nose. He tends to play video games late into the night and always regrets it in the morning. She works out every other day and usually in the mornings. F E A R S : Spiders and rats. He has always been scared of them and will not admit it to anyone. That he will never be able to write. B A C K G R O U N D : Nestled between the edge of Korea Town and El Salvador Corridor, there stood in a corner the Park's small market– Park & Mart. Rhys grew up in the little market surrounded by its plaster walls. The rows of snacks, pre-packed pastries, and canned goods offered ample ways for the boy's imagination to flourish. The air conditioner, older than him, was a dragon. It watched over the store, guarding it and greeting every customer with a roar when the door opened. Adventures from all over the world spoke languages he'd never heard, and others spoke in the familiar tones he knew from upstairs. As he grew, the store and his parents stayed the same. The walls, the food, the snacks, and the AC all slowly began to shift in his mind. Day by day, the walls felt as if they were closing in on him. Trapping him and swallowing him whole with no way out. Suffocated by the expectations trusted upon him by his parents who didn't even know him. Rhys wasn't interested in math, or science, or English, or Korean. He wanted to read and spend the hours of the day with a book deep in the pages of a fantasy novel. To experience adventures in faraway lands, battling for the good of the world, slaying monsters, and delivering justice upon it with a swing of his sword. He began writing when he turned ten. He started in a notebook his mother bought him for his birthday. He'd filled it with stories of his favorite characters, be it from books or shows, or movies. Slowly every page was filled with his writing until he had run out of space. Then another notebook, followed by another and another. Looked like the Parks had a future novelist, and so far he has been living up to it. Shortly after college Rhys he wrote a short fantasy story of Korean Gwisin or ghosts. It gained enough attention to put his name out to the world and gain a small following. Two years later he wrote, "Letters to the Jeosung Saja". It became his top-selling book and gained the title of New York's Best Seller. That was three years ago. Now, Rhys has been struggling to even get a word into paper or Google Docs. Nothing he does sparks inspiration. Everything is bleak and colorless. And worst of all– he doesn't know what is wrong with him or where this sudden stump came from.
