I got a call from my mother today. "So hang on. What's Gaza?" Uh..... *explains* "I don't get it, I watch the news, and I feel so uninformed." Well there's your problem. "Well how do you know what's going on?" I go to the source. If there's a supreme court ruling, I read the decision itself -- not the news article about the decision. "Wait, you can do that?" Yep. "But if I wanted to watch the news, who should I watch?" Whoever you trust the least. For me that's CNN. "But they're biased!" Of course. The point is that I implicitly hate everything they stand for (statist media in general), so they can never get one over on me. "Can't I just watch Fox?" No. Because all journalists are dicks, even the conservative ones. They are all lying to you. "Well that's not good...." No, no it isn't.
Empire Earth was another good one. Similar to Age of Empires but research goes all the way into the future, with Digital (near-future) and Nano (distant-future) Ages.
#1. Star Wars: Rebellion. Hugely underrated game. Way, way ahead of its time.
#2. Age of Empires (2, mostly, and expansions). Still play this all the time.
#3. Red Alert.
#4. Starcraft I guess, just because it was really well balanced. It never really felt ground-breaking to me though. Just a solid, gold-standard game. Throw in Warcraft, too, because same reasons.
#5. Total War series.

There's plenty of other good ones. I was fond of 'World in Conflict' because it got rid of build orders, and had a pretty cool dynamic battle system. I do love Sins of a Solar Empire but there's no room on my list.

Nay, one must dwell in the darkest depths, alone. Hunting the power of shadow and destroying all that stand in the way. Chaos and despair will linger in my wake, for I tread the abyss.

Typical human. The deep places are not for you. You are liars all. Our king smells your reeking flesh. Your deceit. Turn back now, while we still allow it.
I'm thinking of doing another run through. So far I only beat it the one time and it was great..... I must praise more sun.
soul memory is a cruel mistress.
I just want to take a moment to remind everybody that, at the end, when Ethan pushes the Big Red Button to save the day, he shouts 'MISSION: ACCOMPLISHED!' To nobody. There's nobody listening. He just says it, for no good reason.

There's another guy I always mixed you up with, I forget who.

You're thinking of Musket Woman. She had a cape and, confusingly, a bow and arrow.
