Makes sense.

I think once the battle starts into the two one vs one fights, it'll make things easier.

Except if the two fights happen in the same room, or if the two vs two continues being a two vs two.

That's the thing, I can't -really- see the fight ever leaving the current room, unless someone dives out a window. We might have to work out a different format, like a google-doc style collab or something, so we can react to each individual moment.
@Rilla So let's say you'd have to build a difficulty level chart using the regulars here in the arena, who'd populate it and where'd they be?

Depends, there are a lot of factors to consider in difficulty.

Khan and Skallagrim are both good at realistic combat, they have a good knowledge of what works and doesn't work in real life, coupled with their characters which tend to be strong and very flexible with few outright weaknesses to exploit they are probably the two hardest people to fight. I've not managed to defeat either of them despite fighting them a lot.

Green managed to make me rage-quit a fight which is quite a feat, due to how overpowered one of their characters was, so that could be considered 'difficult' I suppose.

LeeRoy has tough characters, but they tend to rely on brute strength which offers you a lot of opportunity to exploit their weaknesses. Though I'm only speaking from the experience of fighting two of his characters when I say that.

ImportantNobody makes too many characters for his own good, and his character's tend to have incredibly exploitable weaknesses. (Which isn't a bad thing, it just makes them easy to kill.) I think if he just made a solid character that wasn't inhibited by intelligence or was a bit more of an asshole (at least not inhibited by morals) he'd be more difficult to fight.

DJ seems to be good at the close combat martial arts stuff from what I've seen so far, though in our current fight I'm highly sceptical of the backflip, and you will see why when I get around to posting soon-ish.

Haven't seen too much of anyone else, Rilla tends to have very flexible swordsman characters, but I've never been able to complete a fight with him so I'm unsure of how difficult he would actually be. I definitely take him seriously though.

Finally, give me a pistol and a character with low morals and I'll kill you to death. I'm still learning how to effectively use more complex weapons like the sword and I only have a functional knowledge of unarmed combat, but I have a decent idea of what works and doesn't work in real life and I'm pretty good at picking out weak-points to exploit. I haven't lost a whole lot in a relatively fair fight, so read into that what you will.

Just thought I'd give you my perspective, as someone who's fought probably the most people in the current Arena.

From the old days Tantalum, Valeric and Sikako were all good and I enjoyed any fight I was in with them. Lysander was definitely better than me when I fought him, though I'm fairly confident if I re-fought that battle I could have killed him in the first move if I knew now what I didn't back then. Which bothers me greatly.
Well I guess we have to wait and see.

Mayhaps you'll get your chance.

Wait isn't the order Khan, you, me then IN?

Yeah, so IN will post reacting to what events transpire, but the issue is where the cut-off point is before things aren't locked in stone. Arguably the stop point is the end of a post which has been reacted to (as once you react to something you're accepting it happened.) so IN has to react to what has definitely happened, which is Judgement swinging his sword and your character ducking under it (there isn't a whole lot he can do to stop you dodging his strike as he'd have to react to something before it happened) after that however my character isn't going to stand around while you backflip away, so IN can't write that in unless he wants to go back and change it all after I post saying that didn't happen as you said it did.
Hmm. Just thought of a significant issue we're going to have here.

Khan and Important are going to post before me, but I have every intention of interrupting the backflip dodge, so how are they going to react? Arena combat really runs into issues in anything past a 1v1.
Oh god, the gun debate rears its ugly head.

We used to have a more specific and equally flawed tier system, now we have a very general one, my advice for learning tier is simply to look at the other characters posted and scale your character appropriately. Ultimately it doesn't matter what tier your character is labelled as, so long as they are a fair match-up for at least a few characters so you have someone to fight.

Only tournament hosts have to worry about establishing a really specific tier categorization, and good luck to them as I think it's probably the hardest thing to do in Arena.
Understandable.
These things can be done.

Melon may notice some things have been changed from the last one, as I don't remember the sheer number of NPCs, and I don't have the image with the town/cities name for the rest of the continent.

I do however, remember, ones such as Eclava, Ivan, Falden, Bastion, Fananatu, and some others.

just lemme get back to my computer.

Melon, as for yours, most of that can be answered in the IC post.bHowever, I can say the city will be located in a jungle, and named Kyut, as I still have that picture. as you know, most will come from you all(as far as where/why) you were hired, but you will be members of the resistance, somewhat 'unseasoned' to keep people from being badass killing mages and warriors, with hardons for mass destruction. you won't be local, so sneaky can work, or seigy. much like the previous renditions, you lot can decide IC.

Problem with making us average Joes is that we're also being recruited for a super difficult mission, those two things don't mix very well.

Though I suppose the motto of Allaria is 'we asked for heroes and got these fucks' so I guess we can be rag-tag mercenaries sent in as a last resort.
Judgement’s steady stride intensified, until he was nearly running, his sword held low behind him, right hand forward. He was at the door and through it in moments, one threat stood about thirty feet ahead of him, but the other was half that distance away standing in the middle of the room, at first sight facing away from him. His momentum carried him forward two more steps, easily within range at no more than seven feet from his foe. His blade drew across the air in front of him as he converted his momentum into a simple horizontal slash at the smaller figure’s shoulder-height, resulting in his right foot forward. If nothing changed he had no reason to suspect his huge blade wouldn’t rend the flesh of his foe as almost five inches of the end of the blade was in line with her body and arcing towards her fragile skin, cutting from Judgement’s right to his left.
The fuck, damnit I forgot to actually post my post.

Oh well, this is a chance to do something, as you've since provided me with your locations.

Perhaps, Melon. The Legend kill! what Information would you like? I can happily provide it.

I'll update the List soon.

More info on the city, who's hiring us, the main players involved, stuff about the city like a map or a written description (as I feel there's going to be a significant period of us standing around once we finally get into the place like, what now?) the options available to us (sneaky or siegey?) and what sort of characters we are? (People involved in the rebellion/resistance, or mercenaries?) Where were we hired, etc.

Also, just for entertainment purposes a more extensive LAST TIME, ON ALLARIA: section would be nice, so we can see how this all fits in with the narrative.
