“Metzalaatla Akalikalat at your service.” Metz smiled, weaving his spell with a practiced ease, the time he needed was granted to him by his foe’s arguably justified caution, though if he had been casting a bolt his hesitancy would have been his downfall. Metz supposed it gave him something of an advantage off-world that his spells were weaved in such a complex manner, on his own world most spells could be recognised by the hand movements he was completing at that very moment. Other than that though, there were few outward signs of what he was doing, and memorizing hand signs in a few moments could usually be considered beyond most opponents. Then again, his opponent was anything but natural, maybe he could tell that he was not replicating the movements from earlier that brought forth the bolt. Anything was possible, Metz concluded, nodding at his foe and taking one last dramatic step into what suddenly became his earth circle.

“And, gone.” He muttered, the rock hurtling up around him after bursting up through the sandy layer. Like before, he created what was essentially a rock cocoon about five inches thick, this time with a pointed roof. The pillar itself only stretched up to eight feet tall and four feet wide, making it something of a squat rectangular shape in the otherwise unblemished earth. Metz stood inside the pillar in complete darkness, falling with his back against the side as the mana rushed out of him with a final burst. His fatigue came to him then, with the stinging sensation of the minor wound to his arm and the bruising aching pain from his chest. He sighed heavily and felt the odd pressure on his back, which with a start he recognised as his backpack. He had forgotten all about it in his strange new surroundings and had neglected to discard it earlier, probably attributing in part to why he couldn’t catch Shin when he needed to.

“Oh well.” He muttered, shaking off his wet backpack and finding his supplies inside relatively untouched. He quickly wrapped up his forearm with a bandage and drank sparingly from his water bottle, sighing to himself as he realised he had yet to really make any head-way with his foe. Hitting him with a bolt had barely singed him, despite probably dislocating his shoulder in their collision he’d hardly slowed down, even with a knife in the shoulder he was outrunning the dejected mage. It was always depressing fighting for one’s life, but in this particular scenario he couldn’t help but feel like the fight was a little hollow.

“Just remember what you’re fighting for Metz old boy.” He said to himself reassuringly, standing up in the darkness and leaving his backpack at his feet. Metz decided it would be prudent first to see where his friend had gotten to in his relatively brief minute of isolation. He grabbed the remaining pure mana vial at his belt and downed it in one, feeling his strength return and the oppressive weight lifting from his shoulders. “Wait a second, how the hell am I seeing anything right now?” He said aloud in confusion, not realising that he had unconsciously swapped his vision capacity to see in the complete darkness. “This must be some alien effect, hopefully it passes when I activate my magical eye.” He debated with himself, patiently weaving the slightly complicated spell that granted him magical sight.
Metz blade tasted flesh for but a moment, and then his grotesque foe out-sped him again, and Metz was forced to pull back himself. Unwilling to continue chasing the man up the sandy beach the man had no real purchase for his grab, and was unlikely to even attempt it as Metz himself seemed to back off. The Mage had of course realised he was working on borrowed time, the last dregs of mana burning through his body like the spluttering flames of gasoline. He stood there, knife in hand, weaving his last spell for the moment and visualising a spot a few feet behind him on the beach as he backed up, watching his foe for any signs of a sudden change in direction. It was impossible to guess what Shin would do, seeing as how he had been running from the Mage just a moment earlier a frontal assault seemed unlikely, but then it seemed that way before when Metz had tried to cast a circle and the man had immediately ran towards him rather than dodging and serpentine like before. It was like he could pre-empt the Mage’s spells, which to some extent was true as Metz had not been aware of the ability to watch the other competitor’s matches.

Still, Metz only needed about two seconds to complete his spell, and he was confident he could earn himself that long. Behind him, at that point invisible, an earth circle was being prepared.

“Give me a moment pal.” Metz said, keeping the knife at the ready, grinning viciously at his foe. In truth, the need to fort up so to speak was multi-purpose, for the effects to his vision were growing disorientating and he wanted to catch his breath from the earlier punch. However, should his foe charge him head on that fort could easily become Shin’s tomb, it was just that sort of day.
Right.

Well, continue whenever you're ready.
Metz vision blurred again as he straightened and flipped the knife around in his hand, moving his Shint into a forward grip. If Shin was going to try and keep distance between the two of them then the added range would outweigh the advantages the reverse grip held in power. The edge of his knife curved downwards, making it a useful cutting and thrusting weapon in a pinch, though it was strange that the fight had descended to such a barbaric level. While Shin could probably outrun Metz somewhat due to his lack of encumbering clothes he was still retreating backwards slightly uphill into dry and loose sand. Such a task was difficult at the best of times, where-as Metz could see exactly where he was stepping and was still standing upon wet solid sand. He caught his breath as he pursued his foe, trying to shake off the punches as he attributed them to the oddities effecting his vision.

However, what Metz could not have known was that the water saturating his body was imbuing him for a short while with a strange ability. He had been momentarily gifted with the sight of the Dreamers, and as such he could perceive the effect gravity was having on himself and his opponent. Somehow, this strange perception allowed him to surpass the limitations ever so slightly, unconsciously granting him a small reduction in weight that allowed him to keep up with Shin. He used this now in a surprising burst of speed that saw him run at Shin and duck slightly at the last moment, his left arm rising to head height as his right lashed out with a duo of quick downward pointing jabs at his foe’s lower body below his arm. Metz lead with his left foot and he was aiming for organs, the liver or the kidneys would be a prime target for the knife wielding mage. It was all about speed and ferocity, and the Mage had both in ample measure.

In the eventuality that Shin struck out at him however, Metz was ready, more than capable of plunging his knife into arm or leg if either came his way, making any attack with the body a risky option for his unarmed opponent.
Goddamnit Rilla
It's just a disagreement on whether or not Metz should or should not have faceplanted because he shouldn't have been expecting to not land on top of Shin. It doesn't matter either way as I've already posted a reply, but it's still a disagreement.

Like I said I don't really see how it's fair to expect my character to fall over just because your character moved after the knife blow had already landed. That was his end goal. Now if you had tried to sidestep Metz rather than punching him I'd understand but you didn't so this is what happened for the situation to make logical sense. Ultimately Shin should have been bowled over there is really no way he could have moved out the way in time considering the type of strike Metz used meant his body would pretty much be in contact with shins as he struck. Still we're at neutral ground so whatever.
I've posted, but going from expecting to land on top of someone (And in fact, not expecting anything OTHER than landing on top of them. Even going as far to prepare for the coming entanglement on the ground.) to not landing on top of that person doesn't put you in any sort of position to catch yourself.

Just saying.

Well my posts were made on the assumption of Shin being dragged towards Metz and Shin coming forward to punch him respectfully. I failed to see how it made sense for Shin to try what's essentially a judo throw after already negating a lot of Metz momentum and taking the knife to the shoulder. Ultimately the only scenario that then made sense was for Metz momentum to be spent otherwise there was really no logical way Shin could avoid being tackled to the ground. The knife in the shoulder already dictated he had left it too late to super dodge. So I worked with the scenario you wrote.
Ah, nevermind. I guess building new worlds is just too taboo for something like roleplaying.

in all seriousness, I understand. it's just intimidating to dive into "the multiverse" will all of these rivalries going on already. just some tournament for newbies would be fun, get our feet wet

Just focus on the idea of worlds colliding as the difference between space and time gets all wonky, that's how I work my head around it. If you just keep in mind that integral to the world most of us who have loitered around Arena are trying to make is a vast number of diverse worlds and peoples all being thrown at each other by what essentially amounts to wormholes you realise you can literally tow an entire world of your own into the Multiverse and no one will bat an eyelid. Hell, bring in an entire empire, or on the flip side a humble tavern keeper, it's really completely up to you.

I wouldn't worry too much about the past, there really isn't that much to catch up on, and the chances it will influence you aint all that high. There are a few remnants of past attempts still stuck to the Multiverse, but that's mostly out of our desires to not have years of past stories mean completely nothing, there's still plenty of room for new people to engage the multiverse, and most people will probably be jumping in completely fresh anyway.

Try it, there's something immensely satisfying about having an encounter in Arena mean something in regards to the bigger picture, or not, that can also be interesting.

Judgement’s purpose was simple, to carry out his God’s will. Such singleness of purpose was a dangerous force when imbued in heavy armour and equipped with a huge sword of Divine origin. However, even without those things Judgement’s complete devotion to a task would still make him a force to be feared, as his foe was to find to her chagrin. Half swording allowed Judgement to wield his weapon like a spear, and because of this his sword also took on a spear’s advantages. Namely, that the point could be moved at an advanced speed to menace a foe from different angles. It was this that made the spear a weapon that in most cases outclassed the sword.

As his point was driven away he quickly re-gained control of the weapon and returned it to menace his foe, but this time she was committed to the attack, and her sword could not hope to outmatch the speed of his own a second time. Her own strike hit home, but to his estimation his own was just as sure a strike, and when he thrust that great blade through her breast it would be a small matter to impale her utterly and tear her asunder, before her own blade could cut into his skin and spill his own blood.
The Reaper isn't necessarily gonna be aligned with anyone, assuming Ghoukas isn't.

I think the idea is that the Angry Rilla's are willing to do anything to destroy the Dreamers, without realising that they would probably be aiding the greater enemy. It could leave Khan's character in an interesting position if he does win, as his high command would probably take the key from him and he wouldn't necessarily like that.
