Name: Flick
Age: 19
Gender: Male
DNA: Harpy Eagle, Feline (Egyptian Mau)

Personality: Laconic and somber, Flick is a stoic man of few words. Despite not saying a lot, however, he makes it very clear how he feels about his fellow avians: they are his family. He puts them first and foremost over just about anything. Flick has a mostly serious nature, and can be a bit of a buzzkill. He wasn't always this way; before he was sent off for his first tour, Flick was much more open and warm. When he returned, he was closed off and seemed to hold everyone at an arm's length. He's gotten a little better, but he's still not quite the same.

Appearance: Flick is tall and lean muscled. His skin is a midtone olive, and he has dark brown eyes. His hair, once messy curls, has been kept shaved down in recent months. When Flick returned from his tour, he had quite a few new scars. He once had a long, flexible cat tail with silver fur and black spots, the end of which would constantly flick (hence the name). When he returned, said tail was mysteriously missing. He had yet to divulge what how exactly he lost it.

His other remaining feline traits are impeccable night vision, balance, reflexes, agility, and speed. All of these are much greater than that of a normal human. He also has a short, fuzzy black mane that runs down his spine to where his tail once was, now just a nub. His nails, if not kept filed down, will grow into claws, and his teeth are just a little sharper than normal.

Flick's wings are those of a harpy eagle. They are dark grey on the topsides, and white with grey dapples on the underside. They are very large and very strong, his wingspan reaching 14 feet. He was designed with lift power in mind, and he can fly while carrying up to 160 pounds.

Other: N/A for now

History: Flick, like his fellow bird kids, was created at Chimera. He grew up there in a similar fashion: caged most of his life, let out for schooling and training, but under careful guarding. When Flick turned 18, it was decided that he was ready for an experimental trial run. He was taken from the facility and shipped overseas, into the desert battlefields of the current war. His tour lasted four months before he was brought back. After that, Flick has never really been the same.

Realizing that the same fate awaited his peers, Flick was the driving factor in urging an escape. Having had the most time in the real world (if one could it that), he's been crucial to the flock's survival.

Science has brought us many great inventions: organ transplants, solar power, air conditioning. But every once in a while, science veers off the road of human interest and does something...unsavory. The Holocaust experiments, the Totskoye nuclear exercise, The Guatemala syphilis experiment, all experiments by humans, on humans. Some could argue that such cruelties are the reason we have the modern medicine that we have, that there may be a silver lining in the horrors of our past. But the subjects of those experiments would probably beg to differ.

Enter the heroes of our story. Created in test tubes and locked away, could one really say they are human? Part man, part animal, these kids were never give a chance at a normal life. The facility that created them goes by Chimera. It's a very well hidden, private company that may or may not be partially government funded. They were trying to create super soldiers, using the DNA of different animals to create humans with different abilities. Many of these experiments resulted in the subjects' death, but one batch seemed to have succeeded: Project Daedalus, the winged children.

These kids, like many before them, were born and raised at the facility, never knowing an outside world. Some of them featured DNA from other species, but all of them were part avian. Their wings, the pride of the scientist's who created them, gifted them with flight. As they grew, they were taught basic education: Math, reading, science. They were also trained for their eventual purpose: super soldiers. These kids were faster and stronger than a typical human being. Their bones, super light, were harder, their muscles where more efficient, and their lungs were more powerful. Once full grown, they would win any fight with a regular man.

However, as they grew into their teen years, they became harder to control. They longed for freedom. Knowing that they were eventually going to be used as weapons, they were determined to escape their fate. And, one stormy night, they got that chance. The mutants fled into the wilderness that surrounded the base, staying together as a flock. With only each other to rely on, they must now survive a world that they've never seen before: Modern Society.

Rules:

1: The "Flock" as they call themselves, will consist of six or so kids, ages 12 to 19.

2: All of the kids will have bird DNA. One other animal can be mixed in, if you so desire.

3: This is all based on the Maximum Ride book series, more specifically, the first two books. In the traditional style of Max Ride, the kids will have to avoid being caught by mutants who are loyal to Chimera, the batch of Project Manticore. These experiments consist of human canine and human feline mutants who have all been brainwashed into being the loyal lapdogs of Chimera. They have been sent out in droves to find and return the bird kids. Playing one of these guys is totally an option.

I'll have to write up the ooc soon!
I'm thinking I'm gonna have everyone have wings, because that's the good ol classic. Then you can pick another animal to be mixed with if you so desire.
I'll probs make a template when I get a few more people interested. But yeah, it isn't a hard concept to grasp. I'll go into better detail if this makes it toa Ooc
So when I was growing up, I loved the James Patterson "Maximum Ride" books. Shit was the bomb. Even to this day, I get the urge to make a good ol' Max Ride RP. And today is one of those days.

The concept is simple. It's one we've all seen in one way or another: mad scientists create human/animal hybrids for shits and gigs, the hybrids escape their cruel clutches, and take to a strange new world that they've never been a part of before, and try to fit in. All the while, they're being hounded by the people who created them. JP did it Max Ride, James Cameron did it in Dark Angel, and I'm pretty sure there were several Marvel and DC characters that would fit into this oddball trope.

Anyways, in this particular RP, our characters will have already fled their captors and will be currently on the run. They've all known and are aquainted with each other, and thus automatically formed a group upon their escape.

The only real question here is do we want to follow the "bird hybrids" thing, where everyone has wings and can fly? Or do we want to have a mix of species?
My only concern is my character being unexpectedly killed. I dont mind character death, but I prefer it be on my own terms.
