While I have created this as a Jump In RP, PLEASE READ THE RULES!!! You MUST have a CS with ALL the information listed in the Blank CS form PRIOR to posting. POSTING RULES are listed in the OOC Section.
Disclaimer. This is a roleplay, pure fiction. It has absolutely no basis in religion. So please no trolling.

You are dead. Yup, that’s right. D-E-A-D … dead. Deceased, a goner, pushing up daisies. Well, at least your body is. But the spirit lives on. Great news … right? No more worrying about taxes. Right? Well, that’s not necessarily true.

What happens to us when we die? Well, in the simplest terms, death is what you make of it. Some spirits end up in their own private hells. Others spend eternity in some sort of dream. But mostly those are people with preconceived notions of what is going to happen. For the rest of us, becoming a spirit is a matter of freedom from the material world. We become beings of pure energy. Oh, we aren’t the mass of our bodies converted to energy, just the energy of our will. That has limits.

Spirit Physiology
powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Spirit_P…
The following are standard powers of spirits. They will all be at Basic level if levels apply. Limitations will apply. Some powers will contradict. Energy Independence will not apply is powers like Telekinesis are used. Possession can be extremely taxing. You will need to find a way to replenish your powers. Teleportation is very short ranged.

Travel is mostly by walking or slow flight. So wherever you died is where you began.

Spirit Abilities

New Powers or Applications
These will only be added with Storyteller permission in advance. This means No Godmodding them. As the Storyteller I may seek approval of other members of the group.

Evolution
Spoiler alert. Being a spirit is NOT the end of the story. It is the beginning. Over time spirit may evolve into something greater. Along this path they may eventually return to a material form. Or they may evolve into an angel or demon. Even that is not the end. The variations are nearly endless. Most spirits end up as wraiths, forced to drain the life forces of humans to keep from fading away. Some end up as Ascended or Near Ascended beings.

Spirit - Spirit Interaction
Spirits may interact with one another normally. However, some powers will have no effect. Take TK as an example. No body? No effect. And if one has evolved a new physical form or possess a body, they can resist. Of course, if a Transcendent Angel shows up, you will be its playtoy. But that is an OP situation. One soul cannot possess another. (Although it might devour you.) And death … is not as permanent as it is for a mortal form.

Plot
But what do we DO with eternity - assuming we have one? Do we have any purpose? Do we eventually fade away to nothingness? Do we jump from one life to another? Truth is, the plot is largely up to the group and the characters you create. You can look in on your loved ones. You can seek revenge. You can find purpose in helping some mortal get through tough times. You might be discovered by someone with spiritual powers. Maybe you will haunt a location.

Characters
Yes, you will need to post a CS. You can appear as you did at any point in your life. In other words, if you were 80 years old, you could come back as a spirit looking as you did when you were 20. However, you clothing will also appear as it did at that point in your life. (This may eventually change with experience.)

Yes, you may have a second character. But please don’t abandon one in the middle of a thread with someone else (unless they ghost … pun intended).

Posting Rules
No bunnying, godmodding, etc.
Use 3rd person, past tense.
Don’t jump into someone else’s scene without consent. Ask in OOC first.
Hide any animated gifs.

Site Rules Apply (I shouldn't have to say it, but ...)

Post Format
Start each post or post section with the name of your character.
End by tagging those you want to invite into the thread. (Use Closed if you want to just do a personal post of something your character is doing. Note: this may not leave you closed to the Storyteller if you draw attention with your actions.)
.....
Your Character
You are a set of identical Monozygotic twins - one male; the other female. This is impossible. You are impossible. The only difference in your genetic makeup is the difference of an X or Y chromosome. You look like brother and sister. However, you are able to sense whatever the other senses. And your combined intelligence gives you a well above average IQ. (Genius or supergenius). Physically you approach perfection as well, on par with a very good athlete. Your senses are slightly superhuman. Your memory is eidetic.

What you do NOT know is that you were born in the 2050’s. Your mother wasn’t even your real mother. She was a research assistant who realized that the experiment that created you violated ethics. When the experiment was compromised she stole you and fled into the past. To avoid detection she moved to a small town in Montana where she met a rancher who fell in love with her. She avoided encouraging you to become anything like an Olympic athlete for fear you would be noticed. She allowed you to live as normal a childhood as was possible.

Now you and … you … have reached young adulthood. And are on your way to a major university.

My Character
My character is from a similar time - a little later. Like you, she was the result of a forbidden experiment. Like you, refuge was sought in the past. Unlike you she was bioengineered for athleticism. She would be a match for any athlete on the planet.

Katsya
docs.google.com/document/d/1D9tEbJHB9…

She is rather on the wild side. However, she harbors a secret. She is a true hermaphrodite. She is fully capable of parthenogenesis.

While her CS says Chicago, the RP can be set anywhere in the USA that there is both a major university your character would attend … as well as cage fighting and monster truck rallies and sports. (Katsya won’t go into sports where she will be medically tested.)

Note: I am actually aiming at a steampunk feel with an Age of Piracy setting and Wild West setting mixed together. “Magical” below actually has a technological explanation that is far beyond the understanding of the current civilization. Antigravity is present, but is beyond anyone’s comprehension. Most advanced technology comes from salvage.

Global Warming, overuse of natural resources (fossil fuels and such), war, and disease of the 21st century left the Earth in a state that would have been unrecognizable to earlier generations. The polar caps are long gone. Coastal cities now lay underwater and mostly serve as coral reefs, metal structures long since corroding away to nothing. The population of the Earth is a mere fraction (about 0.3%) of what it once was with large regions of the Northern hemisphere left uninhabitable.

Technologically the world has changed radically. After World War III the world was thrown into a Dark Age. Only in recent decades has science begun to reach pre industrial levels. Currently the technology of the world resembled the late 19th century with some anomalies. Without fossil fuels light and heat are derived from green sources like wind, water and solar. Yes, solar power has survived, even flourished. Plus some botanical sources - exotic plants that produce electricity ‘naturally’.

Transportation is either by foot, animal on land. Trains exist, but they are usually drawn by animals and much more limited. The fastest way to travel is by air, more specifically by dirigible. Solar power has made propulsion far more efficient. A ‘magical’ substance known as stardust can extract helium from the air or water.

Few humans live outside the protection of city states without the protection of a colonial fort. Most who do - other than scavengers with ships or skimmers - hold a status much like mountain men. The others are Range Guides, warriors who travel the wastelands and shun technology.

Characters
You are a scavenger with an air skimmer, eking out a living by prospecting, scouring old ruins for ancient artifacts or materials that might be traded for wealth - usually in the form of rare metals or gems. (Only large city states mint money.) Scavenging requires a Letter of Mark to operate in a city state’s area. If caught without such a letter while operating in their territory the punishment is severe.

The image below give an idea of the size I am thinking of, though it is a bit larger and a lot ‘cleaner’ - and lacks a dirigible.

Or maybe this one
i.ytimg.com/vi/QrCIcruLL4o/maxresdefa…
This one is just … graceful. (Yes, it is the one from the Mortal Engines movie.)

You will find yourself competing with larger vessels manned by scores of men. Often such companies are unscrupulous. Some are outright pirates.

My character falls more is a ‘new’ scavenger, possibly new competition. He is ‘odd’. He doesn’t buy any of the usual supplies. He sells very little, not enough to make ends meet. (That would suggest he has a stash somewhere.) But what he does sell is always in working condition. Sooner or later he is going to catch the attention of the bigger ships. When that happens, everything he has will become theirs. He seems like he would be more at home in some library - though he doesn’t look it. He’s a giant of a man standing over 6 and a half feet tall.

Plot
Well, as implied, it is only a matter of time before my character becomes a target. Odds are he will be followed in hopes of determining where his stash is - or where he is getting his artifacts. Your character can either offer him good advice, or try to get rich off him. You might even try to team up. That clunker of his looks like he can barely keep it afloat.

This house will be based on the layout of the Winchester House - which has never been successfully mapped.

The ad read:
Room for Rent - Furnished. Utilities included. Terms negotiable. Inquire in person. Office hours Sunday - Thursday 2100-0400.

The house was creepy looking even during the day. At night, it was downright gothic. It was huge - 160+ rooms set at the end of a long street on about 160 acres and surrounded by a menacing looking wall. There were a few other houses on the block, but those were in disrepair and mostly condemned. Most of the streetlights were long in disuse. It was the sort of place that even children wouldn’t dare one another to approach.

The locals had plenty of rumors about the place. Ghost stories, axe murderers, evil witches, mad scientists. Going to the place at night was way worse. Gargoyle statuary, creepy looking angels, the place had it all. If the owner wanted to open a haunted house they could have made a fortune.

But you were broke, jobless, desperate, homeless. You needed a place to stay and “negotiable” sounded like the only price you could afford. You just hoped the landlord wasn’t some creepy old man who expected to trade rent costs for … you know … Eww?

Character(s)
I did consider making this a group RP, so if you know someone you want to join us, by all means ...

Your choices are pretty open - male or female. The only limit is the basic description. Even that is honestly not set in stone. The idea is to have a character that really needs a place to live. And their hope might be a place they can work for room and board.

The man who answers the door.

The Plot
The landlord has other tenants. They don’t all look so creepy. In fact, the landlord is creepy, but not the man in the pic. Most of your fellow tenants aren’t human at all. The interior of the house isn’t as creepy as the outside, but still not ideal. It is … lived in. But at least it is clean. And it has electricity.

Superheroes have been around since the first decade of the 21st century, possibly longer. Or rather I should say superpowered humans and arch villains. You know what they say about absolute power….

Most people who developed such powers simply chose to use them for their own gain. And those who chose the path of the hero … also sought to gain off their powers. In truth there were very few real superheroes who just wanted to save the world. People just weren’t that noble. Most of our so called heroes took on sponsors. Many gathered legal support to handle contracts with clauses about insurance and legal liability. Some superheroes weren’t heroes at all, but honest to God extortionists - archvillains with criminals on their payroll. Of course such stories were squashed. Governments soon found themselves bowing to Capes. I mean how do you fight some guy who can float there in the air while bullets merely bounce off? And how do you deal with those archvillains when the superheroes go on strike?

Some superheroes simply quit when things got tough and the villains started to get lethal. Others simply got killed - either forced into lethal situations by their contracts or hunted down by villains. Today the world is on the verge of falling into a real Dark Age of Supervillains.

In 2037 the government suddenly started collecting civilians - the most unlikely group of misfits one could imagine. Their orders came from the top. “Matter of National Security” was the catchphrase of the day. The misfits included a single mom, a three time loser, some guy still living with his Mom, a Goth chick, and other similar people. Many might have called them losers or nobodies. Their lives simply weren’t amounting to much. Some couldn’t hold a job and those who could were stuck in dead end minimum wage jobs or worked two jobs to get by. None were especially beautiful or handsome, nor especially ugly for that matter, not short, nor fat, nor overly tall. They were mediocre.

How could these people possibly be special?

Perhaps the most common theme among these people was the fact that they all had at least one redeeming quality. The Three Time Loser was caught shoplifting - a box of cake mix and can of frosting. It was to bake a cake for his kid’s birthday. (This story can be changed but it should be something very similar.) The beginning of the movie Battleship is another excellent example. (Now that guy had tenacity - not much for brains - but tenacity.)

Project M (for Misfits and the alien’s name - “M”) was created through DARPA from carefully selected Marines, FBI, CIA, Navy Seals, and other agencies as support personnel for the Misfits. Even these men and women had the look and feel of average. They weren’t made from those Ubermensch molds from which Hollywood gets its actors. Small groups were sent to pick these people up had no idea what was so important about these men and women. It was all done Cloak and Dagger like - no publicity, no spectacles, nothing to make the news. In some cases they got the subjects to bring themselves in - with job offers, invitations to a party and such.

The truth was that an alien had arrived with an offer to the US President. Collect the specific beings they named, and he would give them the chance to save the human race from its own self annihilation. The alien appeared in various forms. Rarely did anyone see the same thing. And in truth the alien had already met each of the Misfits in one form or another. To each of these people he would grant unfathomable powers.

The government made its own pitch.
Salaries with hazardous duty pay
Cover ID’s (new jobs as needed)
Full medical and dental (including immediate family).
College Tuition (including immediate family)
Training and gear (The alien will handle supergear and costumes.)
Funding for Personal Bases (ie that Batcave under your house, or a REALLY cool car - though the latter you could only drive around in costume).

Characters
Powers will be assigned. They will develop slowly at first, then grow. There is no special Format for the CS, though a blank is provided so you can see the minimum info I am looking for. You do NOT need to submit a book. Please hide any animated gifs in a hider. Be sure to make a note of your stereotype - single mom, three time loser, etc.

Ultimately your powers are going to end up on par with the villains. That is the whole point of you being granted powers.

Plot
The initial plot is the group being gathered by the government. Next comes the Pitch. Then Power Bestowal. (It is not completely random. M will interview each person.) Next is training. Then some field work. Finally you go after the bad guys.

At least … that’s the plan … You know what they say about plans. Just think what will happen if the bad guys learn of your group before it is ready.

Stereotypes (not a complete list)
Goth Chick
Schmuck
Loser
The Henpecked
Victim Wife
Single Mom
Lives with Mom
Three Time Loser

Basically these should be people that most of the world wouldn't take a second look at. Their lives are miserable. They should have nowhere to go but up. (This doesn't mean that their mundane life isn't part of who they are.)

Home: If homeless, say so. If you live in your car, say that. If you are a squatter, say that. Also make a note of where you live - city, state, etc.
Job: If you are unemployed, say that.
