if you have a "craving", write a story on your own, that way when you inevitably lose interest and quit you're only wasting your own time

Just a little statement to everyone: I am also probably going to be collecting music I think fits the RP and posting it every so often. ya been warned

They say Joe Geralt was the first man to understand the Ring of Thunder. Rumor was that he spoke to the storms, like they was living, breathing things. He was the first one to invent those newfangled data gatherin' tools for the storms, and the first one to fly into their depth in the modern age. He never came back, o' course: no one ever has.

But a funny thing happened on the day of ol' Joe's flight. Y'see, When he was supposed to be taking off, a giant-ass storm the size of my mother's kitchen was pelting that old airfield somethin' fierce. Everyone thought Joe was gonna have to call it quits: the storms weren't having none of it that day.

Joe...hah! Ol' Joe didn't give two flying shits. He stared up at the sky, black as death and pourin' rain one the earth, and he shouted, 'Come on, you torrential fury! Clear the air! There's no time for this nonsense, and I've got no patience for your whining fit of pity!'

And it stopped. Honest to God and back again, the storm stopped then and there. The clouds parted, the sun peeked through, and it was all over. My granda, he was there, and he swore 'til his dyin' day that Joe Geralt stopped the storm that morning.

Then the man, that magnificent bastard, he hopped in the Archetier and soared off into the sky. Just like that. If I ever live to see that happen myself, that'll be the day I die a happy man.

...yes i am still trying to work on my character, I'm about ready to just take control of Vernon the captain and say fuck it, let's go.
ditto
Yeah I though about all that. They may not have ever had any reason to need to know what saltwater is until more recently, when they developed pumps which could possibly suck some water up during times of drought. I'm not sure about that, because I'm pretty sure pumps only function for a certain height, but lifting something rather than pushing it from below is something that might make a difference in how things work
@Mercenary Lord Thank you, good sir, and everything looks brilliant. I like what you did with both Highwall and the greencloaks. I'll move Sigrun to the appropriate tab once I get back home. I'm looking forward to this, and I'm more than happy to discuss ideas with other folks. It might be fun to have the crew end up visiting the different islands at some point, but I know the entire purpose of this expedition is to see what lies beyond the Ring of Thunder. Either way, this is going to be a blast.

Yeah, i am pretty excited for this too. I've always been a sucker for worldbuilding adventure.
@Lexicon
I'm good with that, and she looks like an interesting character. Accepted, go ahead and move the character over.

I went into the Ghersland section of the codex and actually wrote out a bit of lore for Highwall that I had bouncing around my head. Hope you like it, because it actually ended up being pretty interesting. Had to look up private military companies and shit

I also added Ysmir as a location within Dover, using the Letter you provided and the glossary as well. Fun stuff :D

@Chromane
Go ahead and transfer your character as well. And yeah, river/lake freighters are fine, I just wonder how much technology overlaps between open-ocean vessels and lake vessels. That's an interesting bit of research to do.

@Caits
Great, looking forward to it.

With all this lore building, part of me just wants to keep everything on the United Isles, because there's a lot of cool stuff going on around there.

Now I actually have to finish my character lol

Couple of notes: I'm liking this diversity of characters we have here, very neat.

And the codex post is now more than 8000 words long, so this world is getting pretty damn fleshed out. I like it.

Okay, and now for the sort of bad news: I think in order to keep this from getting too bulky to handle, I'm going to close applications for now. We're up to like six people already, which is way more than I expected, if I'm being honest. That's a good smattering of people, so hopefully we'll all stick around for a while lol
Something I just realized is, if the stormborn are dutybound to slay any vrykul they see, how are they supposed to tell who is or isn't an exile? Added a spiral brand on Sigrun's forehead, the brand of the vrykul.

Just to make sure I understand this correctly, is this island off the coast of Dover?
I just wanted to say I'm still here and today was really fucking busy, but tomorrow I'm on this shit. Thank you all for showing so much enthusiasm about this, it's to me pumped to work on it as well

YAAAAA
@Caits
Nope it's not too late: I hope you're feeling better. :(

@Chromane
I like him. Curious though: what freighters are you talking about him working on? I don't think there would be any river freighters: a lot of the cargo transport would probably be by train, truck, and airplane. Maybe you're talking about river freighters? That would work

And the marine tech for diving would probably be decently advanced: at least in the terms of leisure diving, so that's all good. This world is basically picking and choosing what tech is at what level.

Still it's accepted yay
UPDATE: tomorrow I drive back to school. Today I was packing, and it's really just been a clusterfuck tbh so hopefully I can pull it all together in the end
I'm planning a reporter type guy. I have a plan in mind
