Arsenic and Old Lace
Name – Chase Stein
Alias – Arsenic
Age - 20
Powers –
- Chase has a telepathic link with Old Lace, a genetically engineered deinonychus, which was given to him by Gert. This empathic bond with enabled Chase to command Old Lace as he pleases. However, he also shared any injuries that Old Lace suffered and vice versa.
- Chase also carries a small switchblade.

Weaknesses – Chase is very cocky and arrogant which can lead him to making poor decisions in the field. He is a regular human meaning that everything that kills a person can kill him. If Old Lace is hurt he also feels the pain (and vise-versa).

Brief Bio - Chase Stein had a very bad upbringing. While his parents were two of the most intelligent scientists on the plan, he was more of a "Jock". He excelled in all kinds of sports at school, while failed the ,majority of his subjects. This led to him receiving a lot of physical abuse from his father as he grew older who beat him regularly.
The highlight of Chase's year however was when his family met up with a group of others. He became great friends with the other kids; Nico, Alex, Karolina, Gert and Molly. The group loved hanging out at the gatherings every year, while their parents had drinks in the other room. One year, the kids decided it would be fun to spy on their parents little meeting. Obviously they wanted to know what they spoke about behind those closed doors! What they discovered though was not exactly what they expected. They walked straight in on their parents conspiring to start off World War III, with them discovering that their parents were in fact a group of super villains named The Pride.
Chase discovered that his parents were building weapons for this new world, as well as a number of warheads. His friends also discovered certain things about their parents. Karolina discovered that she was part of a shape-shifting alien race called the Skrulls, while Nico discovered that he parents were in fact dark sorcerers and ended up stealing a book of spells and a magical staff. Molly discovered that she was a mutant with the powers of super strength while Gert (a girl whom Chase had liked for many years) found that her parents were time travellers and that she has a telepathic bond to a dinosaur which she resulted in naming Old Lace.
The group escaped their parents grasp and spent the next couple of months on the run, sabotaging their parent's plans as they did so. That was however until Alex betrayed them, shooting Gert. As she bled to death in Chase's arms, she transferred the telepathic link with Old Lace over to him, who in anger set the dinosaur on Alex, killing him. The group managed to fight back against their parents. In the end the Runaways only just managed to escape in The Leapfrog (a ship which their parents had arrived in), as their parents were killed in the destruction of the Stein Robotics factory.
Months passed and the group remained on the run, seeking to avoid SHIELD who were intent on taking the kids in. During this, Karolina decided to head into space with her Uncle after he arrived in a ship, while Molly was invited to join a boarding school in Westchester. This left Nico, Chase and Old Lace travelling across the country alone, mourning over the loss of their friends.
This all changed however one day when Nico was reading through the spell book which she had stolen previously. After reading a spell on a page entitled "The Phoenix Force", her staff exploded causing the Leapfrog to crash to the ground. After gaining consciousness, Chase discovered that Nico was gone. Traveling to New York, Chase vowed to find Nico, and discover whatever this Phoenix Force was.
