With the Carracosta taken care of, Alodi went to put his wand back in his sleeve, only to notice the important artifact he had came for was gone. A thief...? In here? Hmmm, let's see... Ah! There she is.

With fleet feet, the Delphox closed in on the Skitty. [ALODI used PSYCHIC! MAGICIAN WAS ACTIVATED!] The Psychic power gently wrapped around the Skitty, a hardly noticeable surge of energy. As the attack dissipated, so did the Skitty's loot.

Now with the Sun Flute in hand, it was time for the Delphox to make his leave. Looking back up, it had appeared the thief had managed to take cover, or run off. However, his eyes caught a glimpse of pink as the Skitty tried to stealthily take another look. "Ah, there you are. I hope you realize that this flute is significantly more important that you could possibly know."

Making his way over, he knelt before the Skitty, "I was hoping to ask my friend Moreta, but, since you're here, mayhaps you'll be more helpful. So then, have you noticed anything particularly strange around here?"

With wide eyes, Celes looked up at Lily when she spoke, immediately leaping to her feet and gesturing to Ranulf to do the same. "Ready! I was just making sure you guys wanted to leave for real! Kay! Let's go~"

Picking himself up, Ranulf began to stretch, looking over the gathered group, <That was a rather impressive battle. Cyan, was it? Congratulations on your evolution.>

A smile played across the nearby Zoroark's maw, "Indeed. I'm proud of you, Cyan. You must feel better now?" As the rest of Nasir's companions joked around, the stoic Zoroark merely smiled, shaking his head at Shock's backhanded compliment. Some things will never change.

Already making her way out, Celes paused as she turned around, noticing everyone was still standing there. The Azumarill was still wounded, causing the small girl to groan in irritation, "Ugggh, I could've been sitting! Ranulf, can you carry me. Pleeeease?"

<No.>

With the blunt response, the small girl wilted, until she sat upon the ground with her knees splayed outward. "Ooookay, well, let me know when you guys are ready."

All the while, the teen's new Starly watched the scene quietly, seemingly forming opinions on everyone around him.

"A Pokémon Contest...?" Furrowing his brows, the blonde searched through his memory, trying to recall whether or not he's heard of such a thing. I believe mother used to watch those performances...? I remember not being interested in them...

Green eyes fixing on the girl, he nodded ever so slightly. "I'm Gladion. Now that I've given it some thought, I believe I've seen a Pokémon Contest on television before, but I can't say I'm too familiar with them."

As the Trainers chatted, Silvally carried on its own conversation with the two other Pokémon. <I see. I've never heard of such a thing. Hmmm. Two Pokémon? Gladion could participate, if I could convince him to recall his other companions from Paradise. I doubt he would, though. Well, I doubt I could convince him to participate, anyway...> Trailing off, the Synthetic Pokémon let out a sigh before turning back to the pair, <Though I only have a slight idea of what you both were doing, it certainly was visually pleasing. I'm sure you'll both do wonderfully.>

Upon hearing another voice nearby, Gladion turned to face the voice's owner. A Popplio? What is a Trial-goer doing all the way in Viore?

Silvally too turned to face the newcomer. With a polite bow, it spoke to the Popplio, <You're quite a ways from home.>

Making his way through the dungeon in a hurried fashion, the fleet-footed Delphox wasn't paying nearly as much attention as he likely should have been. This is not good. Moreta has left, and the others in Quicksand Caves are significantly more hostile than they should be.

Worry furrowed the Delphox's brow as he rushed along, clutching what appeared to be an artifact in his paws. A strange flute with a sun emblem, specifically. Quicksand Cave's relic... Why would I have had a vision about it? Everything is unclear...

It did not take the Fire-type very long to reach what appeared to be a bottleneck in the dungeon. In the room, a large Carracosta was beginning to stur. I hope whatever is agitating the residents of Quicksand Caves isn't causing issues here, either. If only I had a way to contact Moreta... I'm sure she would have an answer for me.

As he passed by the Prototurtle Pokémon, it chomped down on the seed it had prepared before it. Not wanting to come off as a threat, the Delphox gave it no notice. Normally, it might have worked. However.

Taking a bite of the Blast Seed, the Carracosta reeled, tears welling in its eyes. A few moments later, a heavy stream of fire erupted from its maw, aimed straight at the wandering Delphox.

Being struck by the pseudo-Flamethrower, the Delphox recoiled in confusion. Stuffing the flute in his sleeve, he withdrew a stick from the other, pointing it menacingly at the ancient Pokémon. "I have not come here to—"

[CARRACOSTA used HYDRO PUMP!]

A torrent of water burst forth from the agitated Water-type's maw, catching the Delphox off-guard, sending him flying into the nearby wall.

You leave me no choice.

[ALODI used GRASS KNOT!] Holding up his wand, the Delphox made a few flicking motions with his wrist, when a blade of grass snaked its way from the ground beneath the Carracosta, wrapping around his foot. Taking a step forward after feeling something connect, the Pokémon then proceeded to face plant on the ground.

"And now, for my finishing touch~"

Waving his wand once more, a psychic-energy was emitted from it. [ALODI used HYPNOSIS!]

The hypnotic energy was sufficient enough to drowse the Carracosta. Alodi hoped it would be enough to make his escape.

A smirk played across the Kirlia's lips when Devon commented on Draining Kiss. She was going to make a quip, but it seemed it wasn't the time. As Brick continued, she considered his words. The most important skill? Uhh...

When the others weighed in, she thought about it further. An unsure frown crossed her visage. "Uhh... teamwork is probably pretty high up there. I guess courage isn't actually a skill. So a skill would be combat related? So something you improve... I... can't think of anything else. Actually... uh... precision? Maybe? I don't know."

"Oh, moves... yeah uh..." Trailing off, she let Devon speak up first, given he was the one who likely needed the most counseling. Furrowing her brows, listened as Devon mentioned only knowing Water Gun. Oh yeah... this isn't going to be as easy as I thought. Well, I guess I didn't really think it was going to be easy... but...

As the Poliwrath discussed moves with Devon, the Kirlia interjected, "You... probably know like Scratch? Or maybe Bite?"

Turning to the two girls sitting nearby, a smile returned to Lilisette's lips, Oh wow! Those are all amazing moves. No wonder you guys are strong. As for me? I have Psychic and Heal Pulse, and uh... oh yeah! Magical Leaf and Draining Kiss. As for what I use them for? Psychic's to move stuff around... and the rest my mother taught me, but aside from knowing the moves, I don't really use it for all that much? Well! Okay, no that's wrong. Magical Leaf I use in my dances... Heal Pulse too, on occasion. That's pretty much it though."

"So one of Folio's own is a shape shifter? Oh my... do they know? That's... absolutely delicious information." Taking a moment to consider the situation, she finally smiled, taking in the Toxicroak's greeting. The black lizard's cheeks flushed a bright pink as she spoke, "You flatter me, Datsu~ I've been well though, all things considered. It seems my harem grows more idiotic by the day, however... the desert heat must be getting to them. Ah, but they're my precious imbeciles now, aren't they?"

Putting a hand on her hip, she continued, "Hmmm... If this 'Mew' is a shape shifter, this could prove problematic. Perhaps they do have something to do with the prophecy, after all..."

Furrowed brows rested upon the Bayleef as Kirlia considered their past day. I think that was her. According to the stories, Selena's supposed to be a tactical genius. Maybe she's just scared of it? She must doubt her decisions, instead of sticking to it... Eyes widening when Ember spoke to her, she turned to face the Quilava, letting out a small laugh, "Yeah, I mean, I know it's hard, but that's about all I can do, you know? I've been training since I was small. I was actually a part of a large dance troupe before uh... you know, I came here. I guess."

Waving her hand dismissively, she continued, "Enough about me, though! Brick, what else did you want to talk to us about?"

Upon hearing a familiar voice, the Poison-type abandoned her scolding, only to have a wicked smile spread across her maw. "Oh my, look who returned~ Did you miss me, darling?" However, her flirtatious expression faltered somewhat as the Toxicroak continued to explain the situation. "How aggravating. Whomever did him in must have been quite powerful. Attacked by their own shadow, you say? Curious. As much as I loathe to say it, perhaps the Manifest is correct."

Turning to her subordinate, she made her way over before stepping on him, "This prophecy. What else do you know? Out with it."

"Eeeeek....Mistress, that hurts—" Stepping on him harder, her brows furrowed in anger, "Out. With. It."

Writhing, it began to cry more, "Eeee... okay! Okay! There's... supposed to be a powerful Pokémon behind everything... Black, like shadow... and um! I think... also a Psychic-type?"

"And you wouldn't have happened to catch the species name, would you?"

"Noooo... I don't know!"

"Fine." Letting up her foot, she then looked towards Datsu, her smile returning, "A powerful Psychic-type, hmmm? You wouldn't happen to know anything, now would you?"

Silvally was captivated by the performances of both Fennekin and Deerling. Its head tilted as its maw hung agape. Finally, once the pair seemed finished with their routine, the chimera took a few steps forward. <Vertigo Contest...? Is that what you are practicing for?>

When addressed, Gladion took his hand from his brow, and placed them at his sides, "That was our plan, but it looks like you're making good use of the field."

Looking up at him Silvally let out a questioning chirp, <Might I try?>

The blond's pupils shrunk at his companions words, his eyes darting down with worry. "You just asked if you could do what they're doing, didn't you. Look, I don't even know what it is, and we didn't come here to play around."

The crest atop Silvally's head drooped somewhat as the teen shot down his hopes. An aggravated sigh escaped the blonde's lips as a result, "I hate it when you do that." The boy's green eyes moved from his companion over towards the girl before him, "So, what exactly are you doing?"

With his eyes now on the ground, Olivier laughed a little bit when Michael pointed out that he didn't seem like the traveling type. "Hah... hah... you're probably right. I'm likely better suited for what I plan to do, anyway." Looking up to the pair, a wide smile crossed the teen's maw, "Good luck. Both of you. I hope you accomplish whatever it is you're aiming for. All right Libra, let's head off."

<It was nice to meet you, Maya. I wish I could travel with you, but I do wish you the best of luck. Take care!>

With that, the blonde teen made his way back towards New Amber Town.

Lilisette was surprised that Brick had such foresight. The proffered fruit was something the Kirlia had been craving for a while. I knew I was hungry, but I didn't think I was THAT hungry.

Taking a seat when instructed and grabbing an apple, the Kirlia began to munch away as her eyes scanned the room, and her thoughts drifted from what they were talking about. He wants us to train in here? It's just a bedroom. We're probably going to destroy it. Ember could probably set it on fire with just an Ember.

Her thoughts were pushed to the back of her mind when the Poliwrath began speaking once more. Talk? Huh? Pausing she then tilted her head. Strengths...? I guess I never really thought about that. What are my strengths? Dancing? Is that even relevant...?

Quietly munching on her apple, Lilisette listened as her other companions spoke of their strengths. Once they finished, she stared down at the ground, her brows furrowed. "I... don't really know what mine are. I'm really good at dancing, so I guess... swift-footed? Or agile? Something like that... and um..." Looking to Selena, her brows furrowed, "That's not true! It's not a danger to those around you. If Devon didn't have you... he... he never would have defeated...!" Pausing, she stopped herself. "...N-Nevermind."

"Mistress, mistress! I bring news." Furrowing her brows, the sleak Pokémon replied, "Out with it." Scurrying around in a frenzy, the messenger tried its best to calm down, "The Manifest has a terrible prophecy! We're all doomed!"

Taking a hand, the irate female winded it back before slapping the messenger as hard as she could, "Silence! Did I ask to speak with a blithering idiot!? Stop making assumptions."

"Y-Yes, mistress... u-um... the Manifest has... the prophecy states that the world will be engulfed in shadow."

"Nonsense. Get out. Stop wasting my time."

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Personality: Strong-willed and intelligent, Gladion has been hardened by his experiences. Though cold and aloof, his rough exterior hides a kind, caring person. He is especially protective of his partners and sister, however this attitude extends to anyone he forms a bond with. With a surly and cynical disposition, it's difficult for Gladion to cut loose, even if the source of his misery has been, for the most part, defeated. Though he's been able to take losses with considerably more grace than he used to, he's still quite self-critical, and strives to become a formidible Trainer.

Hometown/Region: Aether Paradise, Alola

History: Gladion's childhood was relatively normal for the first several years of his life. His mother and father were loving, caring parents, but they were often absent; leaving Gladion and his sister, Lillie, in the care of others.

His father was the head scientist of the Aether Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation of injured Pokémon. However, in the interests of keeping their organization afloat, they heavily invested in their research. Gladion's father, Professor Mohn, was a cutting-edge scientist, diving into the fields of the unknown. A strange portal to another world was discovered, and even more terrifyingly, occasionally dangerous Pokémon would appear from them. The professor sought to uncover the mysteries of the Ultra Wormhole.

Before his research was completed, Mohn was lost to the very thing he studied. The Aether Foundation began their project Type: Full in order to combat the extraterrestrial threats. In the process, Gladion's mother, Lusamine, was driven mad.

Her insanity became increasingly apparent as time passed. It was almost as if something corrupted her being, amplifying her negative traits. The Type: Full project was soon deemed a failure by the Foundation (and renamed Type: Null), however Gladion knew that if his mother planned to force open an Ultra Wormhole, this project was the only chance he had at stopping her.

Breaking into a high-security lab, Gladion successfully liberated a cryogenically frozen Type: Null. However, he would soon discover the percise reason for the projects failure; the chimeric creature was driven to madness, and was volatile, and uncontrollable. Gladion was determined to prove its creators wrong, and liberate the feral Pokémon, turning it into the Beast Killer it was designed to be. Grievously wounded, but not disheartened, Gladion took Type: Null with him as he left Aether Paradise.

Gladion began working for Team Skull in the interest of supporting himself financially while finding a way to free Type: Null from its restraints. He would go on working for them as an Enforcer for two years until they made the mistake of kidnapping his sister.

Working with the eventual Champion of the Alola Region, they managed to rescue his sister, however they were not able to thwart his mother's grand scheme. Lusamine was taken in by an Ultra Wormhole, along with Team Skull's leader. With his mother in an entirely different dimension, Gladion was left with no way to stop her. Leaving a Moon Flute in the care of his newly found friend, Gladion entrusted the future of Alola to a powerful trainer.

Aether Paradise was left in shambles, and without a president. The president they had was filled with corruption, using the Foundation in ways contrary to its initial purpose. Gladion then dedicated himself to rebuilding the Foundation's core from the ground up.

Taking a few steps out of the Pokémon Center center, Gladion's gaze met the barely risen sun that still laid upon the horizon. Taking a pokéball from his hip satchel, he threw it into the gleaming sun, a white light materializing from it as it hit the ground. The light formed into his partner, Silvally, a synthetic Pokémon he rescued three years ago.

<Good morning, Gladion!> With a happy expression, the large chimeric Pokémon moved in to nuzzle its Trainer, nearly knocking him over in the process.

"Ack! Silvally..." Giving the Fire-typed Pokémon a reluctant hug, he then moved himself away, furrowing his brows in an attempt to look serious. "Now remember, this is our journey, but my intention is to raise a new team, got it? After a warm-up, we should probably get going."

With the chimera in tow, the black-clad teen made his way towards the arena behind the Pokémon Center. To his surprise, there was already someone occupying the space. Holding his hand to brow, he watched the scene with curiosity. It was unlike anything he had seen before; it was similar to a dance routine. Like the fire-dancers of Alola, her Pokémon were agile.

Silvally, similarly, was taken aback as well. I wonder what they are doing? After a few moments, it decided to take it up with its Trainer. Looking up, it tilted its head.

Shaking his head, Gladion crossed his arms, "I'm not sure. I've heard of Pokémon who compete in competitions that do not involve combat, but I can't say I've seen one. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if that woman were into them..."

Olivier Laine

The battle between Devon and Brooks had concluded, leaving Olivier with more questions than answers. However, though inspired by the battle, his thoughts were elsewhere. His desire to journey had faded, but something within him wanted to know more.

Mega Evolution.

Those his introductions with the two concluded, he was left unfulfilled. Scratching the back of his head, he averted his gaze, "I'm so sorry, Michael. I know I promised I'd travel with you, but..." Trailing off, he found the words difficult to say, "I think... I might head back to New Amber Town... and then maybe home. After seeing that Mega Feraligatr... I realized there's a lot I don't understand, and I crave understanding."

Rolling his eyes, Ranulf let out a sigh, <Marill?>

A grin played across the small girls visage, "Yeah that! I can't believe that Devon's Marill evolved! So cool!" The others rushed towards Devon, but Celes stayed put between Ranulf's legs, instead deciding to shout out towards the hooded teen, "GREAT JOB DEVON! I BET YOU CAN BEAT HIM NEXT TIME!"

Staying quiet with his arms crossed, Nasir's brows furrowed as he analyzed the battle. That was no normal Trainer. Cyan is strong, and had a definite type advantage. With her evolution, she should have been able to easily overcome such an opponent. Who is that man...?

The Zoroark's blue eyes followed the opposing man and his Noivern as they rode into the distance. Hmmm...
