I'm honestly sick of updating this. This will probably be ny status for the next four months.

Okay.. maybe I panic a little when nobody's posted for 10 hours. I have no life outside the internet.

I don't know how much caffeine I've just injested and I'm pretty sure it was all a mistake.

Linus didn't at all trust Callie's reassurances. For all he knew, he'd been kidnapped and was now being essentially forced into living with these people and doing whatever it was they wanted him for. What is it they want me for, anyway? he thought, nervously biting into this lower lip. He might have just gotten himself into a much worse situation than he was in before.

He held the charms at arm's length, as if he were afraid they were contaminated with deadly chemicals. His first guess was that they were probably sedatives or maybe even mind control devices that they'd use to keep him compliant with whatever they wanted from him. Callie had said that one of them was to 'relax' him. That was dubious-sounding, to say the least.

He really wasn't feeling good now, nervous to the point where he was pretty sure he'd probably throw up or go into a seizure if this little situation got any weirder. If he were any younger or less mature for his age (whatever that was) he'd likely be crying by now. He just wanted to leave. He didn't trust these people, who had barely even identified themselves let alone explain themselves. He was trying to hold onto the names, but they seemed to slip right out of his mind as soon as he heard them. The woman, Camille or Callie or Cassie or something, had wandered into another room. The dog, which looked a lot more like a wolf now that it was closer, was starting to creep Linus out. He didn't really like dogs. They were too unpredictable.

Linus continued to edge his way back towards the wall, holding the charms by the strings and anxiously examining them, feeling out of control and at this point very sick. What are they trying to do to me? He thought silently. He hadn't said anything in a few minutes, feeling like he couldn't even if he wanted to. He was pretty sure they'd kill him if he tried to run, so there was nothing to do but stay here and try to piece together what the hell was going on.
@Oliver
Ah, well, its the redwood disks with the potion in them, uninvoked they don't work, but invoked, they door-she invokes them with her blood, you'll notice I didn't do that in front of everyone XD

Thanks!
Also, is it common knowledge in this town to know how to use these or is it possible that someone wouldn't know? Also, how the hell are they used?
@Caits What's an invoked charm? Is it like a physical object or something?
Ciel

Location - Crash site

Ciel coughed incoherently in a pathetic attempt to respond to a question from one of the women from Newnan. The question was soon answered by a man who Ciel was pretty sure had just entered. After a quick check, the man gave permission for the woman to move him to the infirmary. Whatever waited there wouldn't be pleasant, but it would help. Ciel doubted that anyone had proper medical supplies these days, but something was a lot better than nothing.

Ciel gritted his teeth, bracing himself for being moved again. He felt mostly fine when he was lying still, but as soon as he got jostled around he felt lightheaded and nauseous. The IV had done a good job of keeping him alive, but he'd lost a significant amount of weight and the nutrient and vitamin deficiencies had probably done a number on his immune system and possibly even cognitive functioning. He'd never been a particularly healthy kid, given his asthma and several allergies, but this latest mortal peril would probably bring on some long lasting annoyances.

Trying to push the thoughts of the uncertain future out of his head, he laid down to keep the movement to a minimum and silently observed the Newnan residents who had entered the truck. He assumed they must be Newnan's medical personnel, but perhaps they were just volunteers of some sort who had other jobs. Clearly if they cared this much about keeping him and Ray alive, they must intend for them to become at least temporary citizens. Chances of getting some semblance of a routine life still looked pessimistic, but this was far better than wandering in the woods starving to death.
Ehh, you might be right. I've got a lot of preexisting projects (both in real life and around the guild) that are taking up a lot more of my time than I thought they would.
I'm also not really full of ideas right now. I feel like this universe takes a lot more originality and creativity than I have the capacity for right now...
I should be done tomorrow. I haven't had time to update today because I've got a bunch of roleplays with timed posting schedules that I needed to get posts in for, but I should have time tomorrow.
@Lady Amalthea Sorry, lost track of time. My post is up.

Location - Heading towards Newnan

Ciel slowly started to wake up, rubbing his eyes and looking around nervously as he noticed the truck was no longer moving. Hopefully this meant they'd arrived at Newnan, and not yet another chapter of horrors and misfortunes. He pulled himself upright, feeling tired and weak, which was still a big improvement from a few hours ago. He couldn't really tell what was going on; he supposed he'd have to wait to see if they were allowed to leave the truck.

He fidgeted slightly, trying not to let his nerves catch up to him. So far he'd done a pretty good job of not freaking out, and with any luck that trend would be able to continue. As soon as he received some medical attention for his little malnutrition problem, he'd finally be able to help out. Not many people had survived the trip, which was by no means a good thing, but it did mean that there were probably some job positions that needed filling now. Maybe he'd have something to do for once.

Ciel remained mostly silent, not really feeling up to talking. The pain in his stomach had mostly subsided, but his throat was still extremely dry and sore. The road to recovery likely wouldn't be difficult, but would be long and tedious. He mentally swore to do his best not to complain about it, then silently went back to observing the others in the truck: Ray, the woman whose name he hadn't learned yet, and the scattered corpses. Not the best company in the world by any means, but they'd do for now.
Is this still alive?
So apparently my schedule just changed and I'm going to have virtually no free time until Friday. I'll get done what I can when I can, and it will most certainly be finished by Saturday at the latest.
