i dont know why it took me three years to do a simple post but here it is. chun has so much worry please help him

oh and "oka-san" or simply "ka-san" is what a husband calls his wife; apparently it is also tradition for a wife to call the husband "anata" but that's up to you

"The gods have spoken. May your marriage... Be blessed."

Before Chunjiro opened his eyes, everything was fine. It was simply another spring day. The trees were blossoming, sending their flowery sakura scent flowing through the open window. Chunjiro was above the clouds, peacefully dreaming of beautiful blue skies and a river full of sleek, fat fish. Once he woke, however, the entire night's memories came rushing back. The wedding ceremony, intensely traditional, the celebration that followed, and then...

"Ah!"

Chunjiro shoots forward in his bed, woken by his own bad memories. Yesterday was all sorts of surreal; from waking to sleeping, he was surrounded by people trying to prepare him for the married life--the rest of his life. He's never been the type to make a fuss; which is why the entire village attending his ceremony was so... uncomfortable. Everyone's eyes on him, and then an afterparty full of alcohol and raucous singing. Not the most suitable activities for someone not even 18 years of age. The most unpleasant memory, however, wasn't the embarrassment of being watched by other people. No, all of that was far outweighed by his own embarrassment at meeting his wife.

Chunjiro flops back down with a groan. Right, that did happen. And it was awful. Haru, his bride, was nothing but shy and innocent throughout the whole ceremony, and it made him all the more anxious. She's so delicate! So... so cute. And now she's his wife.

"What am I supposed to do now?" Chunjiro mumbles, looking around his room. The birds chirping, the tatami flooring, and the early morning light are all the same as yesterday, but now with one monumental change--he is now a married man, and his house is now the home of two people, not just one. For all his mother's teachings about loyalty and duty, there was nothing about this.

"Ha..." Well, he thinks, life goes on. He rises from his bed, busying himself with his usual morning rituals. At least the washing and dressing are the same. But, breakfast... He'll have to eat with Haru, won't he? Won't that be horribly awkward? Shuffling down the hall, Chunjiro stops outside of the kitchen door, steeling himself. Just the thought of seeing Haru makes him unbearably nervous, but his father always told him not to be a coward, so here he goes--!

Stepping into the kitchen, Chunjiro sees Haru, bending over the stove to boil water for tea. Oh god. There she is. What does he do. Come to think of it, even if he does greet her, how does he...? What does he even CALL her? Okusan? Haru-san? Haru? There are too many options and none of them sound good. Chunjiro gulps, for a moment considering just turning around and going back to bed, but the words come out before he can stop them--manners beaten into him from years of lectures.

"G-good morning..." he says softly, kneeling down in front of the table in the center of the room. He hesitates, cheeks darkening, but summons the courage to continue. These are his first real words to his wife. Haru is surely a nice and well-mannered girl; he does not want to be the one to insult her. "...K-ka-san. Unless there is something else you would like to be called," he adds, eyes focused on the floor as blood rushes to his cheeks and ears, painting them bright red. This is even worse than he thought it would be. He can't even look at her for fear his head will explode of embarrassment.
it's good! and right off the bat we have awkwardness because chun has NO IDEA how to address his wife!!

"If my only strength is my sword, even so, I'll surely protect the ones I love!"

Name: Kato Chunjiro (Surname first)
Nickname: "Chun" or "Chuu-kun"
Age: 17
Favorite food: Ramen 🍜
Occupation: Samurai
Appearance: Trained by his father from his youngest days, Chunjiro is confident in his strength, yet doesn't look too imposing upon first glance. He's a little late to start growing, and his arms and legs are generally a bit thin. Other than that, his face is kind, with much boyishness still visible in his features.
Background: Chunjiro's father runs a dojo and was very strict on him as a child. His mother is a beautiful and well-mannered women who is highly thought of in the village, but a truly frightening mother. He loves ramen with fried fish. Has more than a few younger siblings and is used to working hard for other people. Nervous around women. As the eldest, he has been betrothed since birth and was expected to become a samurai like his father, a responsibility he has gotten used to.

"Um... Please take care of me from now on..."

instead of plot, they just cook ramen all day

What I want: An arranged marriage rp centering around a young samurai in historical japan who has recently gotten himself a young wife. While a talented and loyal swordsman, he's hopeless around women and only time will tell how the new couple will deal with this change to their daily lives.

Which is what I would like to explore--the daily life of a new husband and wife, dealing with their individual struggles but also with their interactions with each other. I want to see them fumble around each other. I want the fluffy, awkward, heartfelt attempts of two people who are now expected to live their lives together, in the vein of My New Wife is Forcing Herself to Smile (but, uh... soft ver). To be honest, if the entire rp is them doing household tasks together, I'll be happy.

I have a few more ideas, suggestions, and inspirations, so I hope you'll take me up on this. PM me for more details!

ooh. have you ever heard of noragami? a deadbeat god kinda sounds familiar. anyway, i might be down, i'll pm you soon.
Bump~
1: How many people are interested in the overall genre, and would like to try a roleplay based on the concept?

Uh, i mean, I'm interested... do you want me to do a headcount? :P

2: If you are interested, how serious would you like the roleplay to be?

I'd rather play something comedic and lighthearted. doesn't mean it can't get serious but nothing too dark please.

3: If you were to join, what kind of basic role in the "game" plot - like Male lead, villainess noble girl, heroine, heroine's best friend, etc. - would you be most interested in playing, and would you rather be a reincarnator or not?

I really want to play a shiny blond prince, no memories, who's pursuing his fiance (villainess). if he's lucky in these romantic pursuits, well, we'll have to see. either way, he is a Man in Love. but uhh since it looks like we've got a few male lead takers already, i hope you have room for one more.... it might be neat to play a heroine, though, if you really need one.

4: If you're playing a major character in the "game" plot - like a male lead, for example - how much of the plot of your character's "route" would you prefer to come up with yourself, and how much would you expect me as GM to provide for you?

A healthy mix of both. My biggest question is, where does the rp start? at childhood, or enter into highschool, or what? once that's established, you can tell me a bit about the setting and what the "good end" is for my character, and i can figure out the rest... provided we stay on track, of course.

5: Would you rather do the RP through this site, or through Discord?

Here, please! I'm not a big fan of discord, i always end up feeling left out n stuff. I'll pop over there to ask some questions, but don't expect me to be super active or anything...
So, if you read any manga, like me, you'll see there's an influx of light/web novels and manga centered around the idea of a person reincarnating into an otome game (the Japanese "dating sim"), but not as the main character, but the antagonist! Sort of an offshoot of the isekai genre, but with more romance and less... power fantasy.

In this rp, I'd be interested in playing the male lead -- a prince, nice and shiny -- who stays by the villainess, even after her "downfall." The setting can be reincarnation or simply western aristocracy without the pesky "i know how to make KETCHUP so i'm beloved by all" thing. I want royal intrigue! I want politics! Maybe magic and stuff too? Or a "heroine" to get in the way? Who knows!

For reading on this subject, I'd recommend the highly-acclaimed Bakarina or my personal favorite, Fiancée's Observation Log of the Self-proclaimed Villainess. For lighter reading, the Villainess Anthology is a collection of oneshots that give you the idea of what i'm looking for.

I hope to see you soon! PM me or comment on this thread, just showing interest will make me happy :]
