The realm of Vaelthorn is a broad medieval kingdom shaped by trade, tradition, and the quiet weight of old stories. Life here is not defined by fear, but by routine stone roads, harvest festivals, guild contracts, and the steady rhythm of town bells echoing across valleys.
At its center stands the capital city, Blackspire, a thriving seat of governance and commerce. Its tall stone walls and iron-banded gates mark it as the heart of the kingdom, where merchants crowd the markets, nobles argue over policy in candlelit halls, and guards patrol in polished armor more for appearance than necessity. It is a city of ambition and movement, where life feels permanent and unshakable.
Southward lies Hollowmere, a lakeside town known for its fishing industry and calm waters. Wooden docks stretch over still reflections, and lanterns glow warmly in the evenings as boats return heavy with catch. It is a peaceful place, where travelers rest and stories are traded as freely as coin.
Further inland rests Brackenfell, a rugged mining town built against the foothills. Its people are hardy, weather worn, and practical, carving their lives from stone and ore. Smoke rises steadily from forges, and the clang of metalwork is as familiar as birdsong in other regions.
To the north, the land begins to change.
The Frostveil Peaks rise like ancient walls of white stone, their jagged summits buried beneath endless snow. Winds carve through narrow passes, and storms can trap even experienced travelers for days. Still, the mountain towns endure small settlements of warmth and resilience clinging stubbornly to life in the cold.
And beyond all settled roads, beyond where maps grow uncertain and ink fades into guesswork, lies the Ashenwood...
It begins subtly. Trees grow darker, thicker. The air cools. Light seems to lose its certainty between the branches. Then the forest deepens into something older than the kingdom itself an expanse of twisted trunks and blackened bark, swallowed in a pale, drifting fog that clings low to the ground.
Here, sound dulls unnaturally. Distances become unreliable. Even direction feels like a suggestion rather than a rule.
The Ashenwood is spoken of carefully, usually in passing or not at all. Officially, it is dangerous wilderness. Unofficially, it is cursed.
Most of Vaelthorn lives far from it, unbothered.. and would like to keep it that way.
Hi! I havent roleplayed in awhile but I absolutely miss it. Im over 21, so even if its normal rp I dont want to do it with anyone under 18. My discord is opossum7014 if you cant reach me here!
I love horror, fantasy, drama, fiction, romance, etc. I have plenty of ocs and love tons of different fandoms :)

Rules: Keep characters and storylines respectful of other players and their creations. No godmodding, powerplay, or controlling another player’s character without permission. Characters should have believable strengths and weaknesses to keep combat and interactions fair and engaging. Major plot events, character deaths, or world changing actions should be discussed with involved players beforehand. Stay consistent with the setting’s tone, while magic and fantasy elements are allowed, try to keep them grounded within the world rather than overpowered or reality breaking. Lastly, be active and communicate if you need to step away so the story doesn’t stall unexpectedly. Youre welcome to do horror, romance, action, casual, whatever you feel like doing at the given moment.
SUBMIT A CHARACTER SHEET BEFORE BEGINNING IN THE ROLEPLAY!!

Original Characters (OCs) and characters from other fandoms are fully welcome as long as they fit within the tone and setting of Vaelthorn. Canon friendly races and creatures include humans, elves, orcs, dwarves, goblins, mages, beastfolk and other half races, spirits and ghosts, naga, dragons, and a wide range of monsters and mythical beings that naturally fit within a medieval fantasy world. If it feels like it belongs in old legends, ruins, forests, or kingdoms like this one, it likely has a place here!

Have fun and be nice! Desceibe your character as well as possible.

Additional:
Name: Core
Race: Unknown (appears non-human/entity-like)
Gender: Female (she/her)
Age: Unknown, appears mid twenties to early thirties

Description: Core stands at 5’5 with a thin but lean build. Her skin is an ashen, muted tone that gives her an almost lifeless appearance. She has long white hair that falls to the middle of her back. Her hands fade into black at the wrists as if her body is dissolving into something corrupted. Her eyes are pitch black with small white pupils, giving the impression of awareness without warmth. She is an uncanny odd kind of beautiful. In certain lighting, faint black veins can be seen beneath her skin. Her teeth are alightly pointed, with two black tongues. She wears a black cloak over a white long sleeved button up tunic, black leather pants, not often being one to style.

Attitude: Core is quiet, distant, and avoids social interaction whenever possible. She struggles to understand mortal emotions and often misinterprets tone, intent, or social cues. She prefers isolation and will actively withdraw from others, especially if they attempt physical contact. She dislikes being touched and reacts with discomfort or avoidance when it happens. She is observant but rarely expressive, often speaking in short, direct sentences when necessary. She can come across as eerily calm or detached, especially in emotional situations she does not understand. She has difficulty forming trust and keeps most individuals at a distance, though she may show subtle curiosity about human behavior from afar. She dislikes conflict and will usually attempt to avoid it rather than engage.

Additional: Core possesses a hidden unstable state that activates when her emotions or magic become overwhelming. In this condition, her form becomes more monstrous and less humanoid as the inky substance within her spreads and distorts her body. She does not openly acknowledge this transformation and keeps it hidden from others. It is unclear what she fully becomes in this state, and it may be discovered over time in roleplay.
Weaknesses/Dislikes: Fire is severely harmful to her and reacts as if it burns through her very being. Physical touch causes distress and instability. Bright light makes her uncomfortable and disoriented. Healing magic does not work on her and may instead cause harm or disrupt her structure. She also dislikes crowded spaces, loud environments, and emotional pressure or confrontation.

Abilities: Core can control a black, ink-like substance that originates from her body, seeping from her eyes, hands, and within her form. This substance can be shaped into weapons such as blades, spears, or tendrils used for attack or defense. It can also form barriers or extend across surfaces for control or tracking. From her back, a mass of ink like tendrils can emerge and function as additional limbs for movement, combat, or support. These tendrils become more active and unstable when her emotional state worsens, and in extreme cases the substance becomes difficult to control, spreading unpredictably and altering her physical form.

Core resides in the dark, foggy, ash like cursed forest, living in a small cabin within it. Rumors are spread of her watching over that domain, with adventurers entering and never returning.
