Tao stared back and forth between the girl, Elise and the boy who had introduced himself as Ryan. These were two people he was just meeting for the first time and honestly...what in the world was going on? Things were happening so fast that he wasn't able to really to process it all very well. A night that started out with just a leisurely stroll somehow turned into him being dragged along with two strangers. He just sorta shrugged when Elise mentioned them as a trio, he wasn't sure how he liked that. Though he couldn't stop the redness and warmth that came to his cheeks when Ryan mentioned him and his new female friend having a moment. "You didn't interrupt anything. We just met, she's a stranger to me." He said without really thinking, instantly feeling bad. His words didn't sound very nice.

He hated this whole situation, he should have just stayed home in his room. "Why don't I just walk away? It's not like I would ever see these two again? I could be doing something so much more productive." He thought, letting out a small huff. He pulled the trademark scarf up closer to his face, he felt embarrassed and unsure about what to do. Normally he knew what to do with people - business wise that is. However in a social and casual setting he was like a fish out of water, fumbling with words.

As Ryan went ahead to answer some text message he had gotten he spoke to Elise, though he couldn't bring himself to look her in the eye. Why was he always so nervous around girls? "Sorry for saying that...I'm not...good with people." The dark-haired boy admitted. Embarrassed he pulled his scarf up to more of his face.

"That drink stall over there has some good drinks, and they are pretty cheap." He said, honestly he needed a good strong drink. Perhaps he didn't leave was because he felt bad? God if that was the case then he needed to stop hanging around Paige and Felix, those two were going to be the death him. Either because of some dangerous outing she dragged him on or a social event that Felix swear he needed to go to. But a thought occurred to him, perhaps this was a good idea to "let loose" as Felix always said, in his line of work he never got to do that.

Thought honestly, what could he get out of these two? Friendship or just some plain ol' company from some strangers?

While You Were Away

Liz's father approached them and told his daughter that he was taking her brothers home, it was probably a good idea. He met with the older mans hard stare, he could tell what that look meant and he mentally promised that he would do what he could for Liz. Though he couldn't deny it, the pressure was building and he was starting to feel like there was a heavy weight on his chest. One of his best friends was missing, people were beginning to assume the worst and now everyone was telling him to watch out and take care of his other best friend. It was a lot to bare for someone who was barely an adult.

"Bye Mr. Baker" The boy said softly, watching as the older male walked away to get his two sons. Elliot looked back to Liz when he heard her speak, there was a smile but he felt like it was genuine. "She's trying her hardest too..." He thought.

Elliot was startled when a guy he didn't recognize ran right between him and Elizabeth, apologizing as she sped away. The boy stared after him with a confused look, there were many people scrambling about due to the announcement of the fire but he recognized almost all of them, but this guy he couldn't put a name to. As the man retreated something fell from one of his pockets, a golden Walkman. It bounced on the floor with a few metallic clinks before resting on the floor. The guy was in such a rush that he hadn't even realized he dropped it.

Elliot watched as Elizabeth grabbed it, the look on her face told him that she knew the guy. A feeling of jealousy bubbled in his chest but was extinguished just as fast, he had no time nor desire to feel such things. There was just too much going on and he really didn't think he could handle anything else. With a heavy sigh he looked to his friend, nodding. "Yea, lets go. Some greasy food sounds awesome."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The drive to the pizza was silent, Elliot suspected that Liz didn't know what to say and he didn't blame her. What exactly would you say? "Hey, how's so and so? What's the weather? Seen any movies lately?" It all seemed so insignificant compared to everything else that was going on. So instead of trying to make idle chit-chat he figured silence was the best option. He just quietly stared out the window listening to the ambient sounds around them.
Upon arrived at Mario's Elliot could see that lots of others had the same idea as them, though he couldn't deny that the greasy and cheesy smell of pizza was amazing. At they stood in line he noticed Liz on her phone but didn't ask her about it, wasn't his business who she texted. As if the girl could read his mind she spoke up, telling him about inviting Kei to join them for Pizza. Elliot was always iffy about the other boy, then again he was iffy about most people. As a boy who was bully and teased a lot in school he struggled with interacting with others.
"That's fine, the more the merrier." He said, turning towards the cashier as their turn to order came up. Pineapple and ham - Hawaiian pizza is the only way to go.
He and Liz choose their table, resting his chin in the palm of his hand as he gazed out the large window. He felt like he should speak but....but what could he say? He didn't want to talk about Lily, every time the thought of her and what might have happened crossed his mind his chest hurt. He hated this, the whole thing made him feel awkward. Made him feel like a loser who couldn't do what needed to be done. He was surprised though when Liz spoke first, especially when the question she asked was about Lily.
Elliot didn't even know how to answer her question, the last time he had spoken to Lil was when they had all gone out for Pizza a few days before her disappearance. He didn't really text much, the both of them had known that. He opened his mouth to say something but then Liz got distracted by something. It was Kei and something was going down with the sheriff.
Worried and curious, Elliot slid out of the booth and follow his friend. He stood off to the side as Elizabeth tried to figure out what happened. Being in the presence of a police officer made him nervous. He really didn't like the way the guy was talking. He laid a gentle hand on her shoulder and spoke to her softly. "Come on, We'll wait for him inside. He's not getting arrested so he'll join us after Sheriff spade talks to him." He said, glancing towards the towns defender with narrowed eyes before going back into the pizzeria and sitting down at the table.
Tao slowly meandered down the street, eyeing the different food stalls as he contemplated what to eat. As he was distracted he didn't notice someone speak to him at first, at least not until they spoke again. Looking down Tao saw a girl shorter than him with dark brown hair, she was asking him about the bruise on his face. He gingerly lifted a hand and touched it, was it seriously that noticeable? He could hear the concern in her voice but he rally didn't like mingling with others, people were...complicated. "I'm fine, it's just a small bru-" He was cut off when the girl took him by the arm and dragged him over to a bench, making him sit down. She moved him around to her liking and than began to wipe his face with a wet wipe. Honestly, what was that going to do? It wasn't like his face was dirty, someone just punched him.
Tao hated it when people paid attention to him, unless it was someone who was going to pay him. The only time he deviated from that was when he was with Felix or the little adventure he had with Paige. But right now he didn't have the effort to really stop her or walk away, so he just sat there letting her wipe his face. "Ah...Tao..." He said awkwardly. He also wasn't very good at speaking with girls, people often question his gender because of his feminine. Older women were fine but others near his age just made him feel weird. "It's fine. I'm okay...really." He said, trying to reassure Elise to maybe get her to stop.
As he was fumbling with his words a bunch of people happened to pass by on a large group, one guy in particular practically ran into Elise, almost knocking her over. Tao reacted before he could think and grabbed her arm so she didn't fall over, glancing to the boy with narrowed eyes. "Hey, watch where your going. You almost took her out." He spoke without really taking notice of the fact the boy had also reached out to make sure she didn't fall. For being a so-called genius Tao was acting quite the opposite. But then again he wasn't used to have real social interactions with people - he spent all his time talking to people over a phone or a computer.
Manami stared at herself in the full length mirror that hung on her door, dark eyes going over the intricate and very uncomfortable outfit she was wearing. Her mother had somehow set up a photo shoot with a local magazine, the manager of the thing thought it was a good idea to do some "Couple Shots" around Light lane during the Sol Mates celebration. She tried to reject the job but no one would listen to a word she said - in the end she got stuck doing the job and now had to pose "romantically" with some strange boy. The whole thing made her uncomfortable but everything she tried to say something or back out someone would talk over her or tell her she was 'overreacting'. The girl sighed, tugging the polka-dot skirt down a bit more. "Lets just get this over with I guess...." She mumbled unhappily.
Two hours later Manami was fed up with everything. The boy they had gotten to model with her was an absolute douche bag, thinking that everyone she love him and pay attention to only him. He kept trying to make all the poses mostly him...even though they were supposed to be couple shots. Then he got pissed cause she wouldn't reciprocate his annoying flirting. Manami was so glad when they were finally finished and she could try to enjoy her night. Since she didn't eat before leaving her apartment she figured she would take the chance to get something good to eat, she was already out and about and looked cute, why not?
There was a little ramen stand not far off, when the last time she had some nice, homemade ramen? With her mind made up the dark-haired girl moved the little curtain that blocked the small stools from view and sat down. An old yet cheery man smiled at her. "My my, what a pretty lady! What can I get you today?" Manami smiled as she took a moment to look over the menu, finally decided on the Kitakata style ramen. She waited patiently and was excited to get her food, what she didn't expect was for annoying attention hog boy showing up. "Hey, you should really take me up on my offer. A pretty girl like you and a boy like me, we're practically made for each other!" She lifted a brow at him un-amused. "So we're only made for each other because I'm pretty? How shallow...no thanks bud. Your not my type."
The guy seemed offended by what she said and laid a hand on her shoulder, "Come on, I promise -" He was cut off when the nice old ramen man spoke up. "Sir, I suggest you take your hand off her before I make you." The boy rolled his eyes and continued to try and speak to Manami. Annoyed she snapped. "Get your hand off me, your annoying!" She slapped his hand off her, his face grew red as he finally realized he wasn't going to get what he wanted...though the look on his face made Manami feel like he wasn't going to give up. In a huff the boy stalked off, leaving Manami to her ramen.
Is there an elder for fire?
"Hyuk, what are you doing? If your looking for drugs you aren't going to find any - Mom doesn't keep her medicine in the house anymore."
A sleepy Tao walked down the stairs, running fingers through messy black hair as he watched his pathetic older brother frantically rummage through the kitchen drawers. The older male looked like he hadn't showered in a week; greasy hair, dirty clothes and needles marks all over his arm. "I just need some money. I know they gotta have some." His voice was hoarse. Tao stood there just watching, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed over his chest. "You really think they keep anything in this house anymore? With how many times you and Yebin have raided it? Your more stupid than you look, Hyuk." The genius grunted. His parents had stopped hoping that their two oldest would turn things around, that they would throw away the bad habits that got them into trouble. Both of them couldn't keep a job, one spent money like it was candy and the other did drugs every minute of every day. How neither of them had ended up in jail was a mystery to him.
"You!" The sudden and sharp cry of Hyuk caught Tao off guard, the larger and stronger boy strode up to him and roughly grabbed him by the collar. "Your so smart and perfect, the golden boy that everyone likes. Your probably think that your oh-so great, huh?" He was on something, that much was obvious. The way he shook and sweat, the way his eyes dilated. Tao frowned as he grabbed his brother's wrist to try and get him to let go. "No, I'm just glad that I'm not as pathetic and sad as my dead beat druggie of a big brother." Pain erupted across Tao's face as a fist connected with his cheek, the smaller boy falling to the ground. He was stunned for a moment before looking to the seething man standing above him with surprise. He'd never been hit before. It took him a moment to gather his wits, his eyes narrowing as he grabbed his cellphone, pressed 911 and hovered his finger over the call button. "Leave or I'm calling the cops. I won't tell mom and dad that you were here."
Hyuk seemed to contemplate his options before making one of the only smart decisions he'd ever made and bolted, grabbing whatever he'd brought and leaving the house. Tao got top his feet and placed a hand on his throbbing face, walking to to bathroom and looking at how it was red. "Dammit!" He felt frustrated all of a sudden and felt the need to get some fresh air. Twenty minutes later Tao was exiting a cab at Light Lane, the sparkling lights passing by as he walked down the street. His face, once red now had a large bruise on it - he was royally pissed off about it. As he meandered down the street his stomach grumbled, Tao realized that he had slept all day and hadn't eaten anything.
