"I am not a shadow user. I have powers, but not shadow. I wish I could help her." He said a little sadly. "Shadow's also a bit shy as you saw. She has never told me why she was always so afraid of people. Thank you for listening to me ramble. Not many people care enough to listen."

"A lot of the reason I came here was because of Shadow. A half-demon can get away with being around normal people without being discovered where I live. But a young shadow-incarnate with little to no control over her powers is a little bit harder to keep under wraps." Avary explained. "But aside from Shadow, I came here to get away from it all, maybe try to relax a little bit."

Avary looked at her, his face a little somber. "I'd like to say I know the answer to that question. I honestly do. But Shadow has never told me what causes her so much pain. I believe it has something to do with her old life, but she just showed up and I took her in, so I know nothing about that." Avary then turned to the bookshelf.

Shadow nodded. "Yeah, meeting you was nice." She said happily. "And I try to keep happy thoughts. I have to be happy enough for me and Avary." She was grinning and sounding cheerful, but despite this her spirit energy was still primarily blue, with maybe a little happiness, but not much.

Shadow walked closer to Kaoru and looked at her sympathetically. "It's OK Kaoru. Before Avary found me, I was all alone. I didn't remember my family at all, and Avary is the only person I can remember caring for me." She sounded sad after reminding herself of the bad times.

Eden is a home for orphans with special abilities. If you are there, then you were either given up, or your parents are dead. At Eden, we have made an environment suitable to any and all needs of supernaturally gifted children. It is like a boarding school, so children can learn to use their powers, and learn life skills and book smarts.
