@GodOfWar Quick question: How big is the Mindskitter?
<Snipped quote by Polybius>

Will do, thanks for the complement and feedback!

EDIT; After the alterations, should I be good to put it in the CS tab?

Yup. Also I'm going to PM you with a few ideas.
I'm engrossed by this concept, definently going to try my hand at it.

Name: The Mindskitter

Appearance:

Inventory: Nothing

Personality: A quite intellectual being, actually, though it possesses no traditional form or knowledge of communication. Can make very educated decisions, even devilishly cunning ones, for such a horrid beast of it's caliber. Usually behaves mildly, though.

History: The feeder of knowledge, it is an aberration that has been detailed from nearly the beginning of written surfaces. It is famous for it's peculiar habit of following those of the Infinite halls, especially whom are new inhabitants, constantly and indefinitely. It craves, even feeds off, knowledge and travels onward and onward through the infinite halls to find hosts capable of providing it's most thoughtful sustenance.

Other: The Mindskitter does not require food, sleep, drink, or air to survive, but only a constant stream of knowledge. If not provided with such within a 120 hour period, it will suddenly go into a dormant, hibernation state that it can only be woken up from with the introduction of tantalizing information (the reading of a chapter or two will do). It can be killed through physical (and even magical) means, but not psychic, pyschological, or charm-based ones.

Was wondering when someone would try something like this :). Love the monster-is it Unique or are there other Mindskitters? Maybe it's the last? I would say ditch the 'no form of communication' bit-describe exactly how it communicates so we can all interact with the thing. Also, what exactly happens to the 'knowledge' that it consumes? To the person it consumes it from? Can it be any kind of knowledge? I imagine mundane stuff like 2+2=4 would be akin to a handful of goldfish while the exact details of the way a Gnomish Airship powers itself would be like a porterhouse dinner. Or something like that. Great concept!

Nothing wrong with living in the desert. Do you mean Clabeth literally almost went blind or just wanted to get out of the sun? I'm not sure Clabeth would have better eyesight in the dark after growing up in the desert however...What do you think?
I've updated the CS with a Race: category. Just to be safe...And please don't post your CS directly to the Character Tab without a 'like' from me after you've posted in the OOC. That's my fault for not clarifying-no harm done. Also I'll mention again that this is sort of constantly under construction (that's just how my mind works) but I'll try and give a bump to let everyone know of major changes. I've started Amheursts story if anyone is interested. Questions?

Amheurst

"Am I dead...?

Mired in shadow, a young knight leans heavily against a moss covered rock. His armor is worn and beaten and he carries the weight of sorrows several lifetimes long. The sword he holds in his hands-shorn clean off in the middle was once his fathers, and before that, his grandfathers. He ignores the flashes of light, the imposing darkness, all consumed by his grief.

"How did I come to this place..?"

Amheurst looked around the weary cavern. Travelers were congregating near a bonfire in the basin of the cave. The smoke unfurled and disappeared into the gathering mists above. The warm light from the flames fought the seemingly endless darkness of that place, save for the strange shafts of light that occasionally appeared and disappeared. Amheursts thoughts turned from his past and he began trudging towards the bonfire, broken sword still in hand.

"What use is this thing to me now...? All is lost...father would be...if he could be...I don't know what." The image of his father flashed through his mind. It was not of a man in full glorious plate armor atop his steed, axe at the ready as most men might remember the Lord of Guilliam Keep, but rather the simple work tunic he often wore when Amheurst would join him in the stables, late at night when the servants were asleep in the loft or drunk at the local tavern.

Boarding the horses together was one of the few times that Amheurst felt an equal with his father. He became more personable or...less Lord of Guilliam Keep and more Bran, father of six. Amheurst was the youngest and his thoughts continued to spin from memory as he approached the bonfire. Others had gathered at the place of warmth and were talking. The light played strange tricks in this place concealing the other travelers faces. Amheurst clutched the remains of his families broken sword to his chest and and waited for the others to step into the light.

Well there's no CS, but I'm wondering if we are supposed to just share what we want or have a barebones character that develops over time. This seems interesting, but I'm not quite sure how much story I'll be adding myself, I'm not very good at creating those areas. I'm including a pretty barebone CS, but if you were expecting more I can add more.

That's fine for a CS. You can add as little or as much as you wish. As you can see this is very much under construction. Don't worry about story elements, I'll be adding NPCs with story ideas as we go along. Thanks for taking an interest!
Here is the link to my RP, Genesis Void-a freeform RP focused on semi-serious fantasy characters. The point is to test/develop characters in a subterranean world filled with mystery, ancient lore and darkness.

NPC Characters

  • Amheurst, The Broken Knight
A young knight leans against a boulder, his brow heavy with sorrow. The knights armor is sparse, a verdigris marred spaulder, a single gauntlet on his sword arm and old rusty greaves. In his arms he cradles a broken longsword, broken clean off about half-way down the blade. It may have once been a fine weapon indeed.

Amheursts' father was Sir Bran, Lord of Guilliam Keep.
  • Bosham Gar, Troubador & Actor
A thin haired aging man cloaked in shaggy clothes paces in agitation. He clutches a mask with 3 faces. It appears to be crafted from a precious metal. The three faces reflect joy, anger and insanity.
  • Pelinora, Priestess of Kant
A very beautiful woman with a stern expression on her face crouches over a small circle of pebbles. She is incanting a spell and gesturing with her hands. She is cloaked in the deep green robes of the God Kant, The Weary Watcher. Her eyes grow wide as a fire erupts from her palms, creating a small blue-flamed fire. She sits down and begins warming her hands over the eldritch fire.

Welcome to the Endless Halls...

I'm giving this RP the 18+ treatment for mature themes, tone and language.

This Roleplay is a modified version of my original NRP, HexHalls of the Endless Sphere that never made it past the planning stage.

Welcome...
...to Genesis Void, a freeform RP where you can develop a character set in a dark fantasy world, shape the world around you and create artifacts and lore.
  • This is a fantasy roleplay set in a dark subterranean world called the Endless Halls, so no modern/fandom or anime characters please. Some minor machinery might exist (think Dwarven or gnomish tech) but when in doubt just ask in the OOC.
  • Your purpose in the Endless Halls is to discover who your character is and develop a personality. Think of it like a chance to flex your writing muscles. Interact with other characters and go on a journey or simply reflect on your characters thoughts and former actions.
  • The Endless Halls are infinite. Feel free to invent chambers and caverns to explore. Entire cities might exist beneath the earth-whatever you can imagine.
  • Feel free to invent quests/goals or story arcs. You can invite other characters/players to join you or tell your own characters story. I will introduce characters as I see fit to give some semblance of a plot.
  • It is highly recommended that you use the soundtrack. Please add any music you see fit to the Rp.
  • The tone is not exceptionally dark. There are lighter places in the Void, but also enemies to defeat.
  • As GM, I will update the world information, accept/deny characters and try and keep some order in the narrative. I will also be running any NPCs that exist in the Endless Halls.
  • This list updated at my discretion.

Character Creation Rules

To start roleplaying, submit a character sheet in the OOC thread. Once you receive a like from me you may post in the Character Tab and start rping in the IC section. Also, if you plan on using an image for your character appearance, be sure to write that appearance as well-this is an RP to develop and hone your writing skills after all. I also prefer non-anime images-not a requirement, just a preference. Other than that feel free to develop your character as much or little as you wish before you start roleplaying. Be sure to update your character sheet as necessary so were all on the same track. Have fun!

Artifact Creation Rules

You can create and use magical artifacts and items of power. But there are a few guidelines for doing so:
  • Any given character may have in his/her possession one artifact or item at a time.
  • Artifacts have two properties, no more or less. The first property is called the Dominant Power and is defined by the player who created the object. The second property is called the Latent Power and must be created by another player within a certain period of time of initial creation. If a Latent power is not invented/discovered by another player/character, the artifact disappears from the Halls.
  • You must submit an Artifact Sheet for approval in the OOC before introducing it in-game.
