Akoni took a moment to thank the mysterious ally they had on this mission as her holy fire burned away the flesh of the horror he had spent much time destroying. Once the task was complete, they began to move forward. Once they emerged into the study, Fiametta took instant notice of a particular book, but the old mage had already been drawn toward it. Fiametta's words went unanswered as Akoni's eyes drifted over the tome, his fingers ran along the spine. Memories of a time long since past resurfaced. He saw flashes of cultists, blood sacrifices, and pain. The searing heat had been, possibly, the most vivid memory.

"I cannot be certain without first confirming the contents, but I believe a grimoire just like this was once in the possession of..." Akoni faltered and gave pause just a moment before speaking the word "family." They were no family. Not to him. That was so long ago it might as well have been eons, so why did he still struggle with that? "Some very bad people I was once familiar with."

Breathing out a small sigh, the elder wizard mumbled a minor incantation and gestured upward with his middle and index finger on his left hand. The levitation spell took hold, causing the book to lift upward. Another incantation and his eyes glowed a bright blue for but a moment, then the book folded in on itself until it had vanished completely. It had not been destroyed, simply stored away. A minor spell for a wizard specializing in spacial warping. He then observed the rest of the study before joining his compatriots in the journey forward.

Akoni steeled himself as the chapel door opened inward and a rush of supernatural fear flooded outward. This was nothing he had not experienced before--many supernatural beings generated this manner of aura. The trick was not appearing to be intimidated, and not letting these artificial emotions affect your judgment. So Akoni's eyes narrowed into a sterner appearance even as his heart began to race. He would face this new monster and slay it just as every other he had encountered.
Glad to see that there's been one update over the last few days. I'm definitely going to be gentle, since it is the holiday season and I've not been the best at posting lately myself, but if more do not come in soon then there will be beatings. Again, the gentle kind. :)
Already posted this in skype, but I'll try to get an update out during lunch break, just don't expect it to be super long or detailed. Holiday season, man. Busy as frick, especially when you're making a brand new family. Happy Chrismahannquanzikah everyone.
Already mentioned on skype that I've not been around (holiday stuff, of course), I'll try to get something out at lunch break.
Unleashing the spirit of Hell upon all mortals that dare to cross me. In other words, festive singing. :D
Villiam smiled, more for the benefit of the whole prisoner hoard he had discovered than for any personal feelings of gratification. They had been roused and riled from the sounds of the riot just on the other side of the wall, and that would prove to be highly invaluable. Slinking down the line, he held a hand out and ran his fingers across the bars. In doing so, he left behind a highly corrosive substance designed specifically to eat through these metal bars. "My fellow prisoners," he began his speech with a small lie, "Freedom is at hand! No longer shall we sit and rot based on the insane whims of a single cambion! Nefas and his guards are fighting for their lives against our comrades now. This is the time to strike! Overwhelm them with sheer force, Nefas cannot possibly take us all on together! We end him here and now for our pain and torture, or he will simply track us all down like the first time! For glory! FOR FREEDOM!"

With that, the poison spirit held a hand up and willed the Manus in the air to form through his magical caustic body. He called upon his natural ability to create enchanted objects, though it was quick, dirty, and sloppy. A couple of seconds later and he held in his hand a solid knife formed from pure hornet venom. Had he more time, he could create something much better, but as it was the thing would only be sturdy enough for one jab. Good enough, considering the circumstances. That much concentrated poison should fell most beings and if they swarmed Nefas as V planned then the fight would be over quite quickly.

"Come to me, arm yourselves! Then unleash death upon our captor!" Any of the freed prisoners that approached would then be given a similar dagger, each one made of a different type of toxin. Black mamba, black widow, jellyfish, various squids, whatever popped into his head at the moment. They were all equally crappy, though. Time constraints would do that.
As long as nothing major is done with the character, you're free to perform some back and forth action. Since she's naturally lazy and doesn't have any strong motivation to get in the game, so to speak, there shouldn't be much issue with getting the character involved in the same fights and whatnot as Wisp.
@PlatinumSkink As I have already read through the CS via PM and gave it the go ahead there, go right ahead and post her in the CS tab.
I'll be moving the Jacks onto their actual mission pretty soon, likely with a minor timeskip involved, so long as these yahoos don't post in such a way that totally prevents me from being able to do that for us.
Alright, I've come to a pretty major decision my friends. I had hoped that I would be able to pull this whole thing off single handedly, and to be honest I probably could... If life were neat and orderly, but it isn't. Many of you know that I'm now working a butt ton of overtime at work (essentially 12 hour days) taking advantage of it while it exists. I am also preparing to be a first time father. So these major events, coupled with all the other bits and pieces of my life, means that I must now do the unthinkable.

I am officially opening Capes of Denver for a co-Gm.

The co-GM's job is simple. They would take over the updating of all characters not associated with the Wards or the local villain team (now known as the Jacks). All major decisions should be staffed with me (character deaths, changes in motivation, major story developments, etc.) but for the most part you'll have total reign over your assigned sphere of the independent capes. The way that independent capes are run won't change (they are free to pop in and out of the main story with the two teams as they like, interact with each other as they like, and have their own personal adventures away from everyone else) so the co-GM would be providing stories for any independents that are off on their own, or are grouped together but would like a GM directed story.

Qualifications include:

  • A thorough understanding of the English language - Seriously. I mean, come on.
  • A decent understanding of the world of Worm and how it works. You don't necessarily have to have read the whole story (because seriously, it's hella long) but if you've mastered the Worm wiki that works too.
  • Have proven yourself dedicated and reliable in posting.

And that's it. So who is interested?
