Sonar gave a silent nod to Epsilon, acknowledging what she had spoken to him under her own breath, but did not respond even in secret with his power. Martyr had, at least, calmed down. Sonar was glad that he had stopped the older yet more inexperienced boy from making a lethal mistake, and even more glad that Martyr did not seem to be overly bothered by it. At least for the time being. The Wards leader made a mental note to check up on his teammate once the mission was done. He already knew that Martyr had to deal with... Other depressing issues and he wouldn't want them to become burdensome. Thankfully Margrave was on the scene, making the best use of his power they could possibly have asked for (not that Sonar would dare say as much, the guy already had an ego about him). Better yet Tulpa's manifestation appeared to help, utilizing Margrave's power. Sonar spoke a word of thanks that only the newest member of the team would have been able to hear. In a matter of moments each of the bomb collars had been neutralized in the most unusual of ways, transformed into harmless toys, smashed, then tossed aside.

Meanwhile inside the storm drain, Messiah still had Eyeblight pinned down and the two had engaged in a psychological showdown. His aura ability was well documented, especially when prolonged eye contact was made. Two men and one woman had been driven permanently insane, now living out the rest of their lives as gibbering wrecks in mental institutions only capable of being fed through IV. The heroine's stratagem, to mostly blind herself with her own light, was a simplistic stroke of genius. Her stammering only added to the masquerade. Yet with such a perfect plan, something seemed amiss. Eyeblight furrowed his eyes, to those that risked looking upon his face. His jagged grin turned to a jagged frown. Once Messiah had finished her own statements, the villain spoke once more. "No. No no no. This isn't right. I know fear. This isn't fear, this isn't real. You're not looking at me. You don't... You don't see me, do you? What is it? Is it that light? TELL ME!" Again his voice echoed as a chorus of dozens of Eyeblights screamed in different octaves, just slightly out of sync with one another. "YOU DON'T SEE ME! YOU CAN'T LOOK AT ME! NOBODY CAN LOOK AT ME! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST SEE ME?!"

Anger, yes. His words resonated with anger and rage, but something else too. Sadness. Deep anguish, the kind that threatened to drown not just the one to carry the well, but those around them. The Wards barely had the opportunity to comprehend the true meaning of the villain's words before a fire flared in his eyes. Orange and brown light burned through the holes in his sack clothing as he radiated some kind of energy, some sort of light. Whatever it was, it appeared to be entirely cosmetic, just a display, as his terror aura did not worsen, nor did he move from his spot. What he did do, however, could sink the hearts of those unprepared. "FUCKING LITTLE BITCH! PUTA! YOU MADE YOUR MISTAKE, NOW THEY ALL DIE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" The madman's smile widened and everyone heard a click, followed by a beep coming from within his straw body. A second passed, and then... Nothing.

"Uh... Que?" Eyeblight twisted his head around in various unnatural ways, through positions that would have broken his spinal cord about twelve different ways had he a normal body as he shifted around to get a look in the area without touching the heat beams Messiah projected. Then it hit him. There was one less Ward than there should have been. There had not been any kaboom. "Oh cojeme."

Meanwhile, above ground, moments after the failed detonation, Sonar gave the widest, happiest grin imaginable to his compatriots. "We're good! Margrave, Tulpa, you took care of the collars! Guys, Eyeblight's in a really awkward position, since he just tried to detonate and it didn't work. Hahaha!" The young hero slapped Margrave on the back and ruffled Martyr's hair, beaming a smile back toward Epsilon. Then he began removing bags off of the heads of the hostages.

"So little brother failed, then." Sonar and a few of the freed hostages turned to look at another of the hostages, a tall man still with his head covered. Something was wrong, though. He sounded so calm, yet displeased. Disappointed, really. Then the sound of thunder cracked right there, deafening everyone in the area. In a flash of light the man was gone, the sack and clothing he had been wearing had slumped to the ground, covered in burn and scorch marks. In the time it took most people to blink a man had appeared before Sonar wearing an ornate headdress with alternating red and green feathers, a horned skull mask, skeletal necklace, and tribal leggings. With an outstretched hand he took hold of Sonar's head and smashed the teen hero's face straight down onto the solid concrete. Then another crack of thunder shook the area, another bright flash, and the man had vanished. All that remained of the scene was Sonar, lying on the ground, unconscious. His helmet had been shattered, and he was bleeding.

Inside the storm drain, the others heard the crackle of thunder, far too close for comfort, yet the skies had been perfectly clear just minutes ago. Eyeblight looked frightened himself, and a moment later the Wards could see why. A second crashing of thunder heralded a uniquely dressed villain appearing right between Messiah and Eyeblight. He felt the heat of her beams, but only for a moment and nowhere near long enough to cause any significant damage, as he grabbed the scarecrow man, and in a crash of thunder made far worse by the tight space and tremendous echo, both vanished from sight.

The envelope the three had provided for Arsenal proved to be pretty fantastic for convincing him that this was the real deal. For one, it included pictures of his father and another man, a man that the other three could confirm was their employer, more or less. Included with the photographs was a letter stating he could acquire nearly any hardware, any equipment or technology that Arsenal could want for, that he would be provided with a personal hideout, gun range, and workshop. Best of all, the letter stated that occasionally the targets would involve whooping the Protectorate and the PRT. The letter ended with a signature that simply said, "The Broker" in a rather fanciful cursive. A third document within the envelope was a single slip of paper which had three numbers. Account, routing, and an amount of $10,000.

Overlook's Bunker

@Banana

"I hope you'll excuse me if I decline and get back to HQ as ordered." The soldier was curt, but not rude. "And you don't have the time to get brewing. Pack anything you need to pack, because you're coming with us for now."

A Shipping Warehouse.

The sirens flared closer and closer to the body sharing twins, until finally the sound evened out and the flashing red and blue lights could be seen outside through the windows high up the warehouse walls. Would this be it for them? Would their vengeance, their mission, be over so quickly? Maybe they could barter with the PRT? Offer to join the Protectorate, in exchange for being pardoned? It was well known that the Protectorate offered such deals, so long as you weren't a known murder or crazed psychotic. So long as you weren't too dangerous.

"My my my, you've found yourself in quite a predicament, haven't you?" The voice came from the direction of the man they had just beaten unconscious. As they turned to look, it was not the unconscious thug, but someone else entirely that just so happened to be dressed up in a most bizarre and gaudy costume. It was difficult to tell if this person was male or female, as the striped loosely fitting body suit hid any sexual features while the clown makeup covered the rest. Yet this strange character, the twins felt, would probably still be quite androgynous even without these strange fashion choices. Even the weirdo's voice sounded very much like it could be either male or female, being just that perfect balance of soft yet deep, smooth yet hoarse.

"I've been watching you for some time. Well, I haven't been actually, but I have. It's complicated. Anyway, you're interesting! Man and woman, woman and man, both, neither, one and the other at the same time, but not! Heheh!" As the goofy figure spoke, they strut around the unconscious thug like a one-man (woman?) game of ring around the rosy. "You're in quite the pickle now, though! Luckily your bestest buddy Retcon is here to bail you out! Just follow me, and do the exact opposite of everything I do. That means I go left, you go right. I jump, you duck. Make sense?"

Oh boy. This was going to get complicated real fast.

Sonika - Denver Skyline

@j8cob

Furance stood ready as Sonika began her little "test." He pulled out two telescoping batons, one colored red and another colored blue, and took a stance. Then the Russian woman's little trick began. The air escaped his immediate vicinity, she could feel it. His breathing changed for a moment, but then a blast of heat flared up, displacing the oxygen and causing an entirely new airflow, separate from the one that Sonika had created herself. Furnace took in a deep breath, then exhaled gently. "I've had women take my breath away, but none quite like you. That's pretty rude, not to mention it won't work on me."

The hero brandished his batons, tapping them together threateningly, then took another battle stance. "I'd recommend you come quietly. It wouldn't be the first time I've had to hit a woman, but I'd rather avoid it if we can."
Altogether Hell had broken loose as the battle outside the asylum and in the entrance had broken through to this first prison block. The prisoners around continued to riot, even attacking some of Villiam's allies in the brawl, but it was of no consequence. The armless demon capable of using Manus had been preoccupied with Jonathan and the others while the prisoners continued to ignore V himself, meaning he was in the optimal situation. Speaking of Jonathan, the knightly crusader had the gall to assume to order Villiam, something the toxic spirit did not appreciate, but went along with anyway. Or at least appeared to. Keeping low to the ground he made his way beyond the fighting deeper into the prison, but he did not head for the door. No, guards or maybe even Nefas himself would be coming through the doorway. V instead went to the farthest wall so he could melt through the obstacle. If there were more prisoners, well then he would just have to set them all free as well. At this point however his trick would not be necessary. The rioting was at a peak. Any further prisoners would be force to take part if they intended to escape, and it was only a matter of time before the warden joined in himself.
@Sho Minazuki@EnterTheHero

Upon seeing with his own eyes the results of his strategy, Akoni could not help but grin ever so slightly. A portion of the creature's flesh rotted away, as though age had caught up to it, all thanks to a single eye puncture. The path forward was a clear one, and it seemed that this thing had no real defense beyond summoning its minions, making it an easy kill. Speaking of the minions, Akoni dodged out of the way of a clumsy skeleton, backhanding its jaw and sweeping its legs so the frail body collapsed onto the ground. Another came from the side, but found itself suddenly falling from the ceiling as it charged through a freshly opened gateway. These infernal things threatened to overrun them if they paid so little attention, and that blasted angel was still far behind dealing with the larger army. Akoni could only count on one ally for this fight. Luckily, one would be more than sufficient. Overkill, really.

"Thin out the herd," he ordered to Silas in a tone that sounded very much like a firm suggestion. "I will silence the bells."

Just like that two gates appeared before Akoni, the exits appearing above the creature. His devil arm, the Lammasu gauntlets, shapeshifted to include a single long blade designed purely for puncturing. Grounding himself in his position, Akoni began to unleash a small, short flurry of blows through the gates, punching his fist in each one, aiming to stab the Lammasu into the monster's eyes one by one. With every blow, the exit gates would vanish then reappear in a slightly different location. Punch punch, stab stab the old wizard attacked relentlessly! Such a tactic should prove marvelous against the creature, but left him open to attack from the myriad of skeletal beings. For this assault he placed his trust in Silas, in the Lumen Sage, and hoped that the Sage would not let him down. As frail and weak as skeletons were, Akoni was still an old man with no magic designed to enhance his physical body. All it would take from those things was one solid hit, and he gave them a perfect opening to do so.

Silas, do not let me down.
Will get an update out later today when possible.
@BCTheEntity@yoshua171@solokolos What's our current status? This has been waiting for a while now and I've no interest in letting this project die.

@Sophrus@Eklispe Do you need something from me to be able to continue with your characters? (Sorry for not saying anything earlier Eklispe, I just haven't had anything for your character since she just went to stay in her room while the rest of the team went out).

@Masaki Haruna Are you still interested given what I informed you previously?
@Masaki Haruna Not in the Wards or the primary villain team, but there are always independent/unaffiliated spots available.
Villiam did his best to create something akin to a smile on his face, truly a difficult task considering his body composition, as the freed prisoners played right into his hand. Ah, but of course there were those that did not exactly appreciate his methods of recruitment. They had been accounted for and the necessary precautions had been taken. V handled the three humans all his own, as it was clear there would be no help from his so-called partner Toby who instantly turned tail and ran as a large hole blasted open in the wall. No matter. Villiam didn't even move a single muscle (do I even have muscles? A thought he pondered for a fleeting moment) as the three humans came running down at him, only to trip and fall into a pit he had melted into the floor.

Then came what he had not expected. An armless demon wearing a poncho and looking none too amused unleashed its own form of attack, and one that the poison spirit knew not to underestimate: An attack in the form of Manus. As the magical disembodied hand shot forth at him, V allowed his body to shrink down into as small a puddle as he could muster, whilst falling back through the hole he had been burning into the wall. The result would lead to the hand missing, though some chunks of the freshly damaged wall inevitably fell, landing on his somewhat misshapen body. "Ow!" he grunted, reforming into his mostly humanoid shape. "Think about it, you can't get your antidote if you beat me unconscious!" he called out. Though just in case, this demon wasn't willing to listen to basic logic, or was otherwise intelligent to have already seen through the ruse, V prepared two more defenses. The first was easily hidden, more subtle, and incredibly deadly. He generated and stored a large amount of pure ozone directly into the palm of his left hand. If the demon attack again, he would send this deadly substance right at the creature's scowling face whilst wearing a smile upon his own. As for his second defensive preparation...

"That goes for all of you! If anybody takes me out, you don't get an antidote and are guaranteed to suffer an agonizing death!" No doubt that would do it. One more misstep, and Villiam's toxicity is the last thing that demon would have to worry about as the rest of the freed prisoners dogpile it into submission.
Now that was interesting. Quite a sight to behold. Akoni mentally chided himself for his internal pun, careful not to drop his guard as the mutated flesh beast approached slowly, summoning more of its skeletal defenders in the process. He had no real way of describing this creature other than as an abomination. Some sort of mangled hand-like thing with eyes all over its body (what was it with demons and angels and the eye thing, anyway?) that attempted to appear as a small group of humans in a disguise that never could have possibly worked on anybody with half a brain. Ah, but of course, this was earth. There were plenty of those to go around, weren't there?

Just as a skeleton attacked Akoni, and found itself suddenly falling from the ceiling for its troubles, Silas caught up and offered his own brand of sagely insight. He had summoned his two angelic hounds and now used a different weapon than Akoni had known from the Sage. There was no way that the army of skeletons had proven to be too difficult to handle with his normal gear, so Akoni figured that these were simply more appropriate for mowing down large numbers.

"I do have a plan," the old wizard gruffly responded. As he spoke, he shattered a skeleton apart with his Lammasu gauntlet, then ripped a shard of rib bone free. "These eyes only unnerve the inexperienced. To the trained, they make a-" Hurling his clenched fist downward, Akoni opened a gate to pass through, and aimed to not just stab into one of the many eyes littering the creature's body, but to nail straight through into the floor itself. "Perfect bullseye!"
@EnterTheHero You might want to edit your post. As I read it, the beings in robes with bells are the flesh monster. @Sho Minazuki correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, I'm starting up a post right now.
Kritch left almost immediately upon entering the prison, which frankly was to be expected. The rodent demon was the most twitchy, wary, cautious, and straight up paranoid of the whole bunch. Not that Villiam blamed him for it. After all, they were in Hell, not exactly known for producing the most trustworthy of citizens. Truth be told, his fleeing was already accounted for, and so the poison spirit paid Kritch's departure little mind. Instead he focused on getting as big of a riot going as possible, more vital now that the guard in the room was aware of himself and the one-armed kid. Making haste, Villiam slinked across to the cells. As he moved forward, he expelled a purple gas through the bars in the form of a cloud. Upon reaching the individual cells, he ran his fingers along the bars, corroding them with a thick fast acting acid.

"That cloud you just breathed in was a deadly neurotoxin, specifically designed to crawl through your body until the Manus can infuse directly to your soul, thus permanently ending your existence. You want to live? You want to be free? Fight Nefas' guards and I will produce the cure. Now riot as your lives depend on it." Villiam had backed himself up against the furthest wall from the guard at the end of the cell line. Keeping his back against the wall was for more than ensuring he kept sight of any prisoners that might wish to do him harm, for it was also his escape plan if his gambit went poorly. Of course he was lying about the nature of his poison cloud, spirits couldn't convert Manus into a substance then back into pure Manus, but they did not necessarily have to know that. No, it was a simple cloud of methane, mixed with a number of other chemicals to mask the distinct scent, but look foreboding all the same.
