Not Your Average Fairy Tale

Gently, the person before them unfolded its arms, and pulled back its hood with two clawed little hands. Each limb ended into three short digits topped off with smooth and claw-like nails. Its flesh was stone-like, but not smooth, as if ash was clinging to every part of its body. It had a face vaguely feminine, and you would not be wrong to assume as much denoted her gender.

“Please, do not be frightened or upset. I will explain everything, if you just give me the time.” The small creature grinned, teeth bright white and sharp against pure onyx skin. There looked to be almost too many to fit in her tiny maw, and yet she didn’t seem to mind.

Bowing, she extended one hand in front of herself in a dramatic sweep. It was nearly comical the way the robe pooled around her tiny frame, like the outfit wasn’t really meant for someone of her size. “I am Terra the imp, an underling of the Great Mage Sarah Serenity!” Terra stood back up, still looking simply pleased as punch as she clasped her hands together. “You are all now citizens of the land of Yun. Currently, you are located within the boundaries of the great Sun Empire. I am sorry to have pulled you away from wherever you were before like this, but Lady Serenity is a mage of great ability, and one of her spells seems to have had unforeseen consequences.”

“I understand things are greatly confusing for all of you at this time. Please, if you have questions, ask them now.”

@JELDare It's totally fine! I definitely understand the mishap. I would just like everyone to know what's going on as well and easily as possible during this roleplay, as confusion and boredom are the two biggest killers of online RP in my experience.

I'm gunna give everyone who hasn't posted yet a few more hours to get their starters up before I begin to push the story forward. Players don't have to post everyday if they don't want to, but I intend on keeping things moving at about that rate, unless the majority of players have a different preference.

If you miss an event-heavy post and we've moved on, don't worry about it. I will give later joining characters unique entrances to the world after this point, and have several other work-arounds arranged to get new players up to speed without having to interrupt the RP and slow down the story.

The first in-character post is up! Everyone can start on their own opening posts now, and submit them whenever they like. As this is a free level role-play, there is no limit on how long/short your post needs to be. Please try to keep your spelling coherent enough that everyone can understand it, and have fun! The adventure is only just beginning. :3

Prologue

You had chosen the book.
A leather bound piece of literature, with a fancifully painted cover illustrating a magnificent world. Dragons, dryads, wizards, and more were displayed in a mix of battle and great celebration, under a waning crescent moon. The soft blue moonlight illuminates the mystical nature behind it all, and you had been drawn to it for a reason only known to you.

You had sat down, ready to crack into the lengthy volume, but when you opened it everything in the room around you began to stretch and pull. The colors of reality mixed together like splashing waves against a shoreline illuminated by a sunset, until they grew so thin that everything turned grey.

A lightheadedness overcame you, and you felt briefly weightless as the sheer nothing of this mysterious void swallowed you whole. Your vision faded, blackness reaching around the corners of your eyes and slowly seeping into the center, until you faded out of consciousness.

When you awoke, your senses where overloaded. A gently warmness of the bright sun overhead touched your skin, as you cracked open your eyes. You were not in pain, but the brightness briefly overwhelmed you, and you had to take a moment to adjust. Sitting up, you noticed you were in a meadow of tall grass, the occasional flower poking up above the points of the blades.

The sky was a myriad of colors. All pinks, blues, and golds were clashing and blending against fluffy clouds. Quite a few yards away, the edge of a thin forest crept into the field. To the right of one of the larger woodland trees, a dirt and stone path lay hobbled together. It was then, as you took in your surroundings, that you noticed you were not alone.

Several others ranging from human to dragon were in the field with you, all just as dazed excluding one. A small humanoid creature standing at about three feet with its hands folded in front of itself looks at you. It’s eyes shimmer with a purple polish, the only defining feature about it. The rest of its face is shrouded by a blue velvet robe, which similarly clothes its whole body. It looks at everyone in the field, one by one, and then says with a high pitched voice, “Greetings, Travelers. Do you know where you are?” It’s tone implies a hidden ‘of course you don’t’ to it, but in a gentle way.

Now that we have enough characters, I'll go ahead and start working on the introductory IC post. Expect that later today, or tomorrow. More people will still be allowed to join after we start posting in character, but making posts for the people who have already been accepted will be my #1 priority.
