@Leslie Hall It has something to do with his magic flow though. I'll explain it so eventually she can come to the conclusion, she's the type that would figure it out.
The tattoo on his face is a magical limiter. His flame of emotions, in this case emotions that were buried, were sparked when he saw Alice and Jame's mother son interaction. The seal was activated. More or less he was induced into a state of unconsciousness until his magic can readjust. Thought I'd add in my own twist and turns lls.

It was funny, to Nabil at least, that his opponent was more or less like himself. Like the aged man in front of him, he had only felt a twinge of agitation that he had to continue this fight, that he had not ended it and could not carry on with his previous engagement.
The pole bent in his grasp and the marine leapt over his guillotine slash, landing not too far from him. For a moment more, he held his super-heated grasp on the pole before finally letting it return to its owner. It was a rather pointless weapon in his opinion but perhaps it was dangerous in the old man’s hand.
As he man spoke, Nabil tapped the toe of his boots against the ground, his eyes following the cracks of the cement as he—basically—drowned out the man’s cliché speech. Before the man could finish the naïve part about his death, Nabil directed his palm out towards the man; his eyes still on the ground.
“I’ve heard this all before,” he interrupted, turning his calm eyes onto the marine. “Each and every time has led to me walking away from a heated corpse.”
A current of heated air rushed from his palm. It would be hidden behind the normal flow of air, a surprise once it smashed into the man; Nabil kept his composure as a separate concentration of heat formed around him. Little by little, this gathering of heat formed into fifteen red-hot needles. They had stayed around him until he unleashed a volley of five towards the marine as well.
I’ll figure out your secrets.
