"Ah, so you aren't here for the festival then." The barkeep, who looked at now Leifr and the patron who had the nobleman slumped over, also dropped his tone to a quieter one. He looked at the little girl as she spoke about this man being from a noble house, something which he seemed to recognize after staring at Leifr's garments for a few moments. "Heh, a noble huh? One who actually cares for the people. You're..." his speech stopped for a moment as he gestured for the patron holding Leifr down to let go, the tavern keep resting his arms upon the bar counter to get a little closer to Leifr.

"Much better than some other certain... nobles... who claim that they rule these lands." After that, he moved back a little, that statement having to be extra quiet for a very special reason. He also looked at the girl when Leifr began to speak to her once again. "Ah, so ya came back lass? Saw ya here earlier. Seen many people, but not too who wear those scholar robes. Scribes was it? I believe there is a Scribe in the next town over as well, but uh... I recommend staying off the roads for now lass." The man gestured for Lyrisa to take a seat, one next to Leifr being empty so that she could sit in it.

"Those rumors are right though laddy. Four people within this cycle have gone missing as of late. Good people to. Some say its those bandits up north others... say its something else. The chieftan doesn't want to talk about it though, says it'll ruin the festival. The guard captain, Captain Selvus, on the other hand wants to do somethin' bout it." The barkeep looked at Leifr's sword for a moment, then at Lyrisa, then back to Leifr. "You two look dependable enough. Captain' Selvus says he be looking for folks like yourselves, anyone with the skill and guts to go about investigatin' this matter. If you wanna earn some coin its a good thing to try as there is a reward for any information found. Captain Selvus can be found at the barracks on the other side of the village."

After that, his whispering stopped, the barkeep leaning back from the counter, grinning at both of them. "Anyway, enough about that. You want some swill for your thirst? Or perhaps its fillin' the stomach you're after? Well whatever it is, we got both."

Fumbling a Knowledge roll can either be really bad or really hilarious. Usually both.

when you Fumble a Knowledge Roll your chara believes whatever I tell them about a thing (this being incredibly wrong and usually bad).

To answer your question on whether or not Lyrisa would recognize the emblem, yes, yes she would (successful Knowledge Roll)

To answer if he recognizes the Scribes (who are known to be a scholastic order by the way, magic isn't really considered to be a good thing in this world, so those who practice it do so secretly even though those who just practice Arcane Craft know it isn't evil and that it is Sorcery that is).

Leifr... would not recognize the scribe emblem (cause you know.. poor knowledge roll).

Yea, those two things sound best, cause right now I have no idea (but its also late for me, and making my new chara, and making another new chara cause I am freaking indecisive, has drained me of ideas)

Well, Leifr did make an observation roll (a kind of automatic one really, no need to roll it)

Basic knowledge indicates that going to a tavern keep for info in a town is the best idea, and basic observation in this case would indicate that the tavern keep was the man behind the counter.

So yea, posted for everyone. Fiore is the only one who is actually GOING towards the adventure right now (Leifr is starting to head there... and Lyrisa is not even moving towards it yet)

But again, you guys are free to travel on your own or with one another. Its up to you.

A small smile formed on the guard's face. "Ah, knew you'd be interested, and getting to the point quickly as well. Both admirable traits." The guard gestured for the duelist, not that the guard knew who he was, to follow. "Your horse will be fine here, we can come back for it after we discuss the nature of this endeavor as we will need to see the guard captain." The guard, assuming that Fiore would follow, began to walk with Fiore towards the street to the guard's barracks, the likes of which were quite small, which Fiore would see once they got there.

In the meantime, Lyrisa began to study the strange tome she received, hoping to find out more about what she needed for her... secret project.

According to what Lyrisa remembers and understands from the tome, for the creation of a construct, something known as a 'Mana Crystal' was needed according to some of the translation notes in the text, most likely written by Ulrich, as it was written in a different language then somewhat roughly translated to the Galmin Tongue. Alchemically, Lyrisa would also know that certain special metals like steel were needed, but so were a few other strange metals and components, the likes of which were hard for Lyrisa's alchemical knowledge to comprehend. Still, according to other clues in the text, the 'crystal', as it seemed to be called, the likes of which Lyrisa had never heard of before, could be mined and was usually found deep underground, but where would be the hard part. Not only that, but the symbols and magics needed to power this creation were also a bit too complicated for Lyrisa to understand at the moment.

Still, before the process itself could be worried about, gathering the necessary materials was needed, but more knowledge would also probably have to be acquired as well. From Lyrisa's knowledge of geography though she would still have a long way to go if she wanted to get to an adequate 'underground' area, probably such an area being a more mountainous one, but again, this that was just a long shot.

When Leifr entered the tavern it would be quite bustling. There was a decently skilled skald playing in one area, gathering the admiration, and occasionally tossed Talm or iL, of some patrons. Tavern wenches were walking about, serving up drinks and meals to patrons as there was the occassional arm wresting or dice match being had here and there. If it was information Leifr wanted though, even he would know that talking to the tavern keep was probably the best idea, and he was most likely the man behind the bar counter who seemed to be quite large, but not fat.

No he was an incredibly muscular looking man with a somewhat rugged face and a black cloth tied over one eye, a few scars here and there on his arms or face, his white, somewhat dingy tunic being of a shorter sleeve variety, his laughter quite loud and his voice sounding like it could command a room as he talked with a few other patrons at the bar.

All in all, it seemed like everyone was having a good time, and with the festival coming up, it was easy to see why.
