The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

No worries, thanks for letting me know. I think we might be on a hiatus for a while until exams are done and all that stuff is out the way so people can post without things dragging.
That's okay, no real rush. And I've had a busy and kind of crappy week myself, so I'm appreciating the break a little.
Hope your wedding plans are coming together well.
Yeah, I'm waiting for the others to get a post up before I carry on, as they haven't had a chance to post and avoid the bombardment. Or to comment on more players joining in.
I know, I was only joking! No need to be so defensive all the time :P
Though I always find it somewhat counterproductive when people play brooding loners with cool personal history - how's anyone ever going to find out if they never want to talk to anyone xD
Anyway, at least you and I are still paying attention to the thread, eh? ;)
That sounds like a good idea to me - breaking out in the middle of confusion would be good, as it'd give out characters some time to explore without being chased immediately, and a chance to get to know one another as well. And I agree about them being unconscious during the testing too, that makes sense.

Creating the aliens could be fun too! I like the idea you suggested before, making them a bit like the Covenant from Halo, with a number of different races all working together.
Well, I made a post to talk to people, but you decided to go be all broody and lonely xP
"Hey, wow a new person! I MUST IMMEDIATELY IGNORE THEM"
Yeah, I figure that I'd split people up into roughly equal teams if I do decide to introduce any more players.
Vigdis gave a warm smile as Miku introduced herself as the group dismissed.
"Hello," she said with enthusiasm, and a nod. "I am pleased to meet you, ah-" she read the young woman's name tag and repeated her name slowly, trying to get the pronounciation correct. "Ayne-jell weetch. I am sorry if I say it wrong," she said, her smile drooping a little. "My english is not so good, I have been trying to learn more, now that I am working with you all. I hope you can all teach me a lot." Realising she was talking mostly about herself, the big woman quickly changed subject, looking at Miku, and those around her.
"So, um - where is it you are from? I am eager to learn more about the world and it's places. It is part of the reason I joined the air force, you see. From where I am, it is cold, and very boring a lot. But you are Osean, yes? What's it like in your home country?" she said, genuinely curious and eager to learn more about her new wingmen.
If you've got one you want to put up, then I say go for it! Especially because Ramzam tagged your character in his last post, so you can answer.

Right, I've been thinking: We have a few people who are interested in joining, or joining back in. Hailfire has expressed an interest in coming back and joining us, Esailia was interested in joining a while ago before we had a membership explosion and she missed out as a result, and Fallen Muse was interested in joining in as well.
I'd like to let them join in, but I'm worried about overwhelming the thread with too many players. What do you all think, as it'd affect all of you too?
I'll add a very brief description of Shona's actions in line with what you've said in any of my further posts while you're away, and I'm sure everyone else can just assume that she's doing her bit as required when they post too.
Hope your trip goes well!
