The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
I have a lot of ideas for things to run, but like you say, it's thinking if people would be interested and keeping interest in it yourself for long enough that stops me from GMing more things. That and wanting to have free time to do stuff other than RP as well.
Yeah - the way it's kind of dragged to a halt is why I wanted to start something up of my own. I really want to play an Ace Combat-ish game, but this kind of seems to have died a death, unfortunately.
Well, we could always collaborate. I've been writing up some stuff in PiratePad. I'll PM you the link to it, and we can work together on it if you'd like?
Yeah, I thoroughly intend on purchasing the campaign ticket tomorrow when I get paid at the least, and possible a few other small things, but I don't want to spend much as I'm in financial struggles at the moment. I have enjoyed the whole experience so far, but I had no luck in connecting to the multiplayer last night after I tried it, and I haven't had an opportunity to try it again yet, but I'm eager to try again. I'm not sure where the problem lies, but I've heard other people mention that they've had issues as well. Either way, I'm eager to play more when possible. I should have time to enjoy it a bit more at the weekend when I'm not working.
On the downside, it's made me want to post more, and I'm kind of grinding my teeth that nothing much is happening >.< Seriously considering starting my own AC Game >.>
Yeah, everyone's kind of scattered around the base. There's an hour to kill IC before mealtime, and people have sort of drifted off in their own thoughts so far.
Also, currently downloading Ace Combat Infinity. I will come back and post once I have some insights into how it plays and such. Unfortunately, I am currently too poor to purchase any of the additional content, but I will add more info once I have done so.
Blade waved casually to Oliver as the tiger called over to him, giving a small smile at his comment. "I'll take my chances, man," he called back. "They ain't managed it yet, among all the other damn things that've tried". Venessa and Winter rolled up next, not too far after one another, and the fox stood up as the buxom snow leopard addressed him from ground level. "We'll get ta th' bottom of it one way or another. An' the engineerin' crew on the Claw is top notch. I'm sure they'll have yer pal there runnin' like a dream in no time flat. An' y'all are right too - a nice cold drink does sound pretty good ta unwind about now too" he tilted his head with a grin and a knowing smile as she took a sip from her hip flask. "Ah reckon there might be somethin' tucked away in mah personal supplies I can share around". Winter turned up a few moments later and introduced herself, and the fox scrambled down the back of his GEAR, using the built-in handholds to reach ground level, before nodding and throwing a casual salute to the vixen. "And nice ta meet you too. I was very impressed with yer performance on th' field. I'd heard about y'all before, and I'm glad ya decided to take up the offer to join. Hopefully though, when we get out in th' field, things oughta be a lot less, uh... 'restricted'".
