The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
I thought it was a great shout-out, and described all the planes brilliantly. I will edit the OP later with everyones' Excalibur call-sign. Right now I'm a little busy - I have a job interview this morning!

The posts are so long ._. it'll take a while before I could post a proper one.
It's not mandatory to make posts that length - I just write a lot when I get into the groove and start enjoying myself. Also, it's not a contest anyway. TBH, a post can be six pages long, but if it doesn't get to the point or say anything worth saying, it might as well be half the length. Better to say something interesting and short sometimes, rather than long and pointless. Your posts will be fine I'm sure.
Blade was impressed with the intros from both the new pilot, and from the Infantry fireteam. Sykes dour humour bought a twitch of a smile to his lips as he mentioned his previous posting, and his thanks at being plucked from obscurity. Blade answered that with a smile and a gracious nod, before his eyebrow twitched skyward with the same humour at the mentions of his medical situation. He returned the salute and shook the mans' hand. "Pleased ta meetcha," he replied to the introduction. "I'm sure we'll get on well already, and while I can see yer certainly very skilled, I think you'll know what I mean when I say I hope we don't have ta draw on yer skills very often. Please, feel free ta help yerself ta drinks, an' I'll catch up with y'all later on". He turned his attention to the fireteam, who also looked well-presented and eager, much as the GEAR pilot had done. Nodding to her, he gave a small smile. "At ease, Captain. Thanks for meeting me, and I'm sorry you didn't get to join in on the exercise. Logistics is always a nightmare, as I'm sure y'all are aware. All th' same, glad ya could make it to us. I look forward ta workin' with you and yer unit. I'm sure there's a bunch we can learn from one another that'll help all of us out when th' fur really starts flyin'. In the meantime, please feel free ta relax a l'il wi' the rest of us an' get ta know everyone. We'll be workin' up the unit proper from tomorrow, an' fer now a spot of r&r is what's needed".
Blade made his own way to the bar, drawing himself a pint of amber beer a few shades lighter than his fur. Pressing one thumb against a drip of condensation after taking a sip, he seated himself at the end of the bar, and waved to Myrina as she entered, as well as offering a nod and wave to Winter, Ken and Oliver and a tip of his glass to them. "Good stuff out there," he remarked to the goat. "I was impressed with how ya handled yerself. Should be good workin' together wi' ya".
Sure, that's not a problem. They'd have a phone or something so they could be contactable. Do bear in mind I said it was 6:30am though, so not the best time for sight-seeing xD
That's how it starts. First it's clumsy feeding robots, trying to help and feed you, next it's John Connor fighting Skynet in the ruins of humanity. All because a robot hand can't find your mouth without giving you a slap.
The first post in the IC is up. A bit of scene setting that also reveals how we all ended up in Scotland and that everyone should at least be acquainted with each other if not introduced, before an emergency comes up.
The aircraft are all fueled and armed, ready to go on the ramp, with Ariella waiting for everyone to arrive and urging them on into the air. The full briefing will come then. Hope it's not too hard to understand, I figured it was pretty straightforward for an opening post?
