The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

FYI, Gents and Dames, I will be away for a couple of days on Friday. I'll have some access, but I won't be able to post much of anything.
It's my birthday the following week, so this weekend is Airshow visit day for me.
Cool cool. I will get a post up shortly.

Also, FYI, I think it's polite to inform you that I'm going to be away for a few days from Friday, until Sunday evening. It's my birthday the following week, and I'm heading up to an Airshow to celebrate. Hopefully things won't move too fast that it'll make a massive difference if I can't make any large posts for a couple of days, but I'll have a little access from my friends' house and on my tablet.
I was wondering where you'd got to. I'll send you a PM, much like I have with Rafale. You can introduce your character in a similar way, by having them be aboard the character already, and make an introduction there.
Scott toed the brakes to slow down as Wendy climbed into the Hummvee, nodding as she got in.
"Meter's running, miss," he said with thin smile. "Where to?"
Taking off with a slight spray of dust and gravel on the loose-surfaced road. He slowed somewhat as they moved through the streets, heading toward the location of the others. He glanced over at Wendy, noting her tight grip on her rifle and eyes focused on the road ahead. If possible, he'd get her the shot she needed, but keeping speed up to keep track of the hostiles was as much a priority as anything. Losing them would be the end of the mission.
Right, I've moved us on to the carrier, and also gave an easy intro for Rafales' character. Once everyone's made a post, I'll get us on to another bit of the storyline, and a chance for all our characters to actually meet face to face and talk to each other, since we haven't had a chance to actually do that yet. Once we've had a chance to interact properly and get to know each others' names (at least!), I'll cook up our next mission - something of an exploration and recon sortie.
As the squadron pulled into a third circuit, the radio came to life with another incoming message from Overwatch.
"Excalibur, new orders have come in. It looks like this was a diversionary attack, I'm sorry to say. The real target was in Europe - the UNWO launched an attack against military facilities all across Southern Europe and the Medeterraenean. Toulon Port, Gibraltar, Istres Air Force Base, Bases of the Spanish Air Force, Navy, Army, Italian Air Force Army, Navy... they've been hit with long-range missile or air strikes and even bombing runs in some cases. You're to report to your carrier immediately, which is heading south now from Plymouth toward the Medeterraenean now. Further information will be incoming. Good luck and godspeed, Over"
Ariella gave a hissing sigh and clicked her mike in response, before buckling her mask back into place, and speaking up to the squadron.
"Roger, Overwatch. Okay, Squadron. You heard the man - come about to a south heading. We'll get a vector from AWACS to the south and pick up air traffic control en route to the carrier. Stand ready in case we get a further tasking"

The AWACS vectored them southward, handing them over to another traffic controller as they flew at medium altitude down the length of England, passing over the industrial heart of the country in the North and Midlands, and then over the rolling green of the rural south. Large sprawling grey dotted the landscape with the cities below and smaller towns, before the south coast loomed into view, and they banked farther toward the west , heading out over the English Channel.
As the miles rolled by, they were picked up by the carriers' air traffic control at last, and directed onto a heading to land.

Whatever Ariella had been expecting to see when she saw the carrier, it wasn't what was steaming below them now. Wake streaming to both sides, the vessel was anything but a conventional aircraft carrier.
Arrowhead-shaped and sleek, the front section of the hull was split and opened aside into two clamshell-like covers, revealing a carrier landing/launch deck. To the rear was a raked-back sharks' fin-like shape of a conning tower/command tower. Visible beneath the water were further spread-out fins and hull-shapes of what was no ship, but instead a leviathan-like submarine, easily the equal in size of a much larger ship or carrier.
"Oh my," she said quietly to herself, even as the landing officer began talking them into the pattern.

The approach was a lot more hair-raising and unique than other carriers - for a start, one had to approach the ship from the front, rather than the rear, which lead to the thought of what would happen if you missed - and indeed, she had to wave-off the first time around, intimidated and nervous. Boosting power, the Kfir behaved well and climbed away, before she steeled her will and managed to bump down the second time around, slammed forward against her straps and rapidly towed aside and dropped down an elevator to a below-deck hangar more cramped and low-ceilinged than any on another carrier.
PA systems blared overhead in a constant chatter as the canopy motored open and the jets' ladder extended. Ground-crew swarmed to secure the aircraft and make it safe, while others readied themselves to receive the rest of the squadrons' aircraft.
Looking around as she unbuckled her straps and lines with the help of the crew, she caught sight of a V-22, stowed at the rear of the hangar along with a helicopter, and an F-14 Tomcat in splinter camouflage, already tied down and with maintenance crew at work.
Levering herself out of the Kfirs' seat, she climbed down, taking in the smell of heavy oil, fuel and other mechanical work, and waited for her squadron to arrive. The Tomcat evidently belonged to another member of the squadron; she quietly wondered where he - or she - had been delayed, and whether they'd seen action in the major thrust of the battle, rather than the diversionary assault that the squadron had dealt with - and whether he had any information and intelligence on their next heading.
Of course, all this in part was dwarfed by the realization that they were onboard a submarine, capable of acting as an aircraft carrier. The size - despite being somewhat cramped - was nonetheless astounding. What else was waiting to surprise them? She couldn't wait to find out.

I think I'll have to respectfully resign from this RP. Nothing bad towards any of you, however it's that I've simply just lost interest whilst I was travelling, I'm greatly sorry.

Well, that's a shame. Especially because we've barely even got started. What is it that's made you lose interest? Rather than leaving, maybe I can add or change things that will help, as it seems a shame for you to drop out of yet another RP with me :(
I love TF-Wiki. They have a wonderful sense of humour when approaching their subject, and the image captions just make it that much better.
I'll get a post up in relation to Queen, since she's just jumped into the car alongside Scott. I'll only make it a short one, but I thought it'd make sense to have some kind of reaction or greeting at least. Plus I kind of feel like I should for the sake of the narrative!
If any of you are wanting to post, get 'em up quick - I'll make another IC post tomorrow to move us on quickly, rather than keep things hanging around.
