The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Ariella's meeting with the captain was short, and to the point. He turned out to be a fatherly, if somewhat professional (and virtually stereotypical) british man, by the name of Bryson. He was patient and polite, and explained that their orders had them heading south through the Atlantic, and through the straits of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean. Once they'd reached a position off the coast of Libya, they'd surface and launch the aircraft for a number of reconnaissance sorties of the various airfields, airstrips and other key target areas in the country. He went on to provide more details, including their expected arrival time - and then instructed her to head back to the ready room and advise the squadron to strap in, as they were about to engage the ships Supercavitation drive, which would be quite an initial shock.
Eyes widening slightly, she did as he suggested, excusing herself with a salute, and headed back to the squadrons' rooms, a few decks below.
Finding Miyoshi there already, along with those who hadn't joined them for breakfast, she quickly climbed into her own bunk and explained the imminent situation.
"Apparently there's a 'supercavitation' drive, which I understand to be something along the lines of rocket engines along with a complex air-pocket system. Either way, we're about to get a kick in the pants of acceleration, and being strapped in might be a good idea. After that, well - we've got a briefing to go through. I think we're going to be doing an advance recon for some strikes in the desert of North Africa".
A siren sounded a blast three short times, and a pleasant, synthesised female voice advised all crew to brace themselves for acceleration. The lighting snapped into a red-shift, and a rumbling hum grew from below the deck and the rear of the ship. Everything seemed to fall quiet for a few moments, before acceleration pressed them into their bunks momentarily and a throbbing vibration grew in the structure of the vessel around them. It persisted for several minutes, growing louder, and almost unbearable - until it rapidly dropped away into a less deafening and intimidating, but still loud rushing hum in the background.
"Huh," Ariella commented, slightly dazed by the whole experience, as she rolled off of her bunk. "That was... different".
Lightly dropping to the floor, she took a seat at the table again, and began to look over the briefing information that had been forwarded to her padd.
"Okay," she announced to those in the room. "Pull up a seat, sit in your bunk, or otherwise bring your padds online and networked. I'm going to begin the briefing momentarily".
See above - I don't do many fandom RP's, but I have recently replayed Halo 4, and I do like the Halo 'verse a lot. It'd have to be something pretty good in terms of plot and story though.
Looks good to me - the only thing of note to mention is probably to drop the references to the UMP-45, Beretta M9, and the .50BMG as no real-world weapons exist in the setting. The weapons themselves are fine, of course. Regarding personal history, if you can just PM it to me, then that'll be fine - I prefer to have it for my own reference when I'm plotting and planning, so I can weave elements of peoples' backstories into things once things get moving a bit more and we get into the plot a bit more.

Regarding Kitsune Peril being old too, I imagine it's probably a contemporary of the earlier models of my own GEAR, so alongside one another they're in the process of being phased out and replaced with newer models, slowly but surely, but still plenty of them in service.

So yeah, if you edit the weapon descs and PM me over your personal history, I'll consider him to be approved.
I'm sure it'll be fine - as long as it's not too completely and utterly different to the others and you followed the GEAR docs and construction templates then ought to be fine.
Scott dropped to the ground alongside Jan, sinking into the snow up to the tops of his boots, before picking himself out of the snow. Again, the cold bit at him a moment, but then his attention was wrenched away as Medved made their appearance. Scott raised his MP5 in response to the guns pointed their way, but lowered it as Jan handled the situation deftly, talking down the Russian special forces and establishing the current status quo in the area. The situation sounded at least more straight-forward that many of their previous operations. Of course, the last time they'd been anywhere near this area, things had turned pretty hectic. The order to move out came, and lowering the SMG, he fell into place with the rest of the group, and began to move through the snow and slush through the forested landscape toward their objectives.
Thread updated with remaining briefing notes. I have teamed the GEARs into groups based on who's actually still active, given this rule:

Please try to post at least once a week to remain active,
and the fact that some people have now dropped below this threshold with no explanation or notice, and we've also had other people declare they're dropping out. As such, people have been booted from the player list. We do have two people (one PM'd me) potentially waiting to join though, so I will await their sheets.

The rest of you are free to react to the briefing post, and then go to the hangar. If you decide not to make a post, then please say you're going to wait until I post again, rather than just clamming up and not posting >.<
I would advise that it's probably worth speaking IC to your partners in teams for the GEAR pilots, and Esailia and Ken may have some worthwhile discussion too, and even though you've been dismissed, you're still free to ask Silv any questions you need to.

"Extra medical equipment would be a good idea, yeah," Blade replied to Ken. "Let's hope we won't need it, but if we do, then better to have it there. And yes, you'll be fully kitted up for combat. The ground crew will be uploading missiles and rocket pods to your heli as we speak".
Nodding to underline his statement, he turned back to the briefing screen.
"That 'bout does it fer the Q&A session. Final things ta note, people, before I dismiss y'all to begin prep. We'll be splittin' inta groups again. Ken, y'all will provide overwatch an' rapid response. Captain, yer fire team will investigate th' Crawlers as a priority, an' then move based on anything ya uncover, or anythin' the GEAR teams encounter. As we've had a few drop-outs, accidents an' transfers followin' trainin', we're operatin' with reduced numbers fer the meantime until we receive new pilots. So, we'll be down ta three teams a' two GEARs an' one team a' three fer the larger objective of th' centrally placed residential area. Everyone'll be tooled up fer general purpose engagements and max mobility, since we'll be spread out. Each duo of GEARs will investigate one a th' three landmarks I mentioned. As our numbers and GEARs have gone a bit all over the place, I've tried ta balance out the team, but like I said; we gotta make do. So; Team one will be myself, Mike an' Kuraiko. Team two will be Myrina and Arcade. Team Three will be Adrian and Aiden. This sorta makes a balance of scout an' GP GEARs in each unit... sorta... but it should work anyway, what with equipment swapouts an' such. Anyhew, Team One has the residential area, as it largest and most built-up. Team Two the irrigation facility and Team Three the Copper Mine. All the relevant details for each site have been uploaded to your PADDs. The procedure for the mission will be to recon each site, an' as soon as y'all encounter anythin', break away and raise the rest of us to converge on yer position to engage in full. If y'all are overmatched from the get-go, Ken'll back y'all up so ya can withdraw, an' the Claw will be on hand to provide long-range missile support an' all, but as stated earlier: we won't have overwatch from satellite, nor normal radio comms, only LOS comms. So, any fire support will be on a delay, and kinda laggin' behind. Most of our heavy weapons will be 'organic'."
"Once we identify the correct site, we neutralize or engage as much of the opposin' force as poss, and then the Captain can move in under cover fire, secure an' extract the hostages, while we cover th' extraction and then take care of any remainin' forces. Our job will be ta give 'em fire support an' heavy weapons cover as they perform th' extraction too".
He checked the time index on the screen. Under three and a half hours until launch.
"All right, y'all have yer orders. Go get yerselves ready; RV in the Hangar for final checks in two hours from now, then launch at 16:00 hours precisely. Amelia, stick behind so's you an' I can discuss th' tactical sitch an' our options in event of SHTF and th' like. Rest of y'all, dismissed!"
Geez, how many of us are still left?

I'm not sure, but there's more than a couple of people who are very much in danger of dropping below have dropped below the 'one post per week' limit and will get booted if they don't make a post, since they haven't said why they're not making one.
If people suddenly turn up when the action starts up again, then I'm going to be unimpressed. This isn't a 'Free' RP :P

Looking at the list of players, Winter hasn't made a post since the game began, and neither has Damo021. So, they're getting the boot. Slypheed also seems to have disappeared again as well. Nautilus also said that they'll be away for a few weeks. So, we're down to six again (or more like five and a half ¬.¬) Edited the OP to suit.
